Just an update: It has been over 7 years and this tooth is still completely fine without any further work needed.

I was put at ease from the moment I walked in the door. From the welcome I received, to the hygienist and Mr. Peritore. He looked at my mouth and told me I didn't have an infection which was a source of controversy for weeks. He told me what the issues was with my teeth and how they could be fixed which was an answer to my prayers. I prayed to be pointed in the right direction of someone who can see the problem and fix it. I wish I would have found this dentist office months ago. It's close to home and it's a nice office. I was crying due to my mouth situation which has been causing me deep anxiety. I no longer cry tears of sadness but tears of joy. I go back next week for my treatment plan. I went to this location because it's right in my neighborhood... Very NICE ....the staff was very accommodating and easy going ....all beautiful & friendly women (which I loved) Dr P sat with me himself to discuss my options for invisiline and even gifted me with a gift bad full of dental health goodies including a small cooler -wow...I really love gifts and they do this to all their new patients ;))) Now when it came to my cleaning I went to another dr (female) Dr Clemons? Oh I forget, but she was AMAZING!! She didn't hurt me one time and still managed to get every bit of plaque around my gums...no pain what so ever.... The best cleaning I've ever had. Usually I'm bleeding and severely sore afterwards... Dr checked my gums after my medical treatment. He told me Wyatt others didn't.... i need to take care of my gums snd teeth. They helped me get all the benefits then i used my hsa through my job. A co worker suggested i come here and it's close to the L train. I came after work. They gave me a toothbrush and mint toothpaste abd floss and s nice cup. The guy is a con-man. Do not trust him. Very rude and unprofessional. He yelled at me saying he's been doing this for 30 years as I told him I didn't think I needed Invisalign. He's an Invisalign sales man. Uses bullying and scare tactics. When I asked for further information about money and procedures he got all defensive and said I had a lot of other problems to correct first. Big phony and creepy. I also saw him roll his eyes at a new nurse as she had trouble with the x-ray. Although, the new nurse was super nice and courteous. I got a second opinion and I do not need Invisalign and was told that some Dentist push Invisalign because of its payouts. I don't trust this dentist, and I found him to be horribly patronizing. Additionally, be aware that Dr. Peritore considers polishing teeth to be a "cleaning", plaque removal not required. I went to Woodpoint Dental for a routine cleaning and was a patient of Dr Rao's. When I went in for my cleaning appointment, the hygienist informed me that she would only floss and polish my teeth because the dentist who took my insurance, Dr. Rao, wasn't in the office that day. I wanted them to also scrape and remove plaque from my teeth which I have always found to be standard care from every other dentist I've seen. Now, you should know that I went into the office already when Dr. Rao was in and he told me to come back for my cleaning because hygienists aren't in the office on days that he works. Catch 22, right? This is how my interactions with Peritore began. I asked to speak with the dentist on duty and explained to him that I wanted my teeth cleaned. He acted like there was not problem and told me not to worry, they were going to clean my teeth. After the hygienist told me she was done and hadn't scraped plaque from my teeth, I told Dr. Peritore, that was not a cleaning. And he threw up his hands and told me a polish is a cleaning. read more

Not only does the dr and his support staff try to sell you on every single thing they possibly can, but they can't keep appointments. They can take the appointments, but they can't keep them!! I Arrived for my 3:00pm scheduled filling appointment at 2:50pm. I told them I hadn't eaten and that I needed to hurry to get back to work on a very important case (lawyer here). I Was injected with numbing solution from the Dr. who absolutely wreaked of cigarette smoke from his hands and his breath smelled like an ash tray, it was truly a disgusting experience. I sat there numbed for an entire hour! Finally I had enough and got up to find the dentist sitting in his office chatting with some woman. The entire hygienic staff was no where to be found despite me knocking on every door and yelling out "hello!?" several times. My entire half of my face was numb, I was starving, I had been sitting in the office chair for over an hour being tortured with Kenny G and I had had enough. I motioned at the dr from outside the office to come out. He came out and apologized that "time just got away from him." I said - in a half paralyzed fashion how extremely unprofessional and unpleasant this experience was. He the rolled his eyes at me to the other woman in his office and audibly sighed. At that time, I asked him if he really thought I was going to let him stick needles and drills into my mouth after how he has behaved. I grabbed my stuff and told them all in slurred speech - I'm leaving! And got the hell out of there. Do not go to this so called dentist - he wants you to buy things from him, he wants to stick you with needles, he DOES NOT want to do dental work. F YOU. I was numb until 8pm and my entire wife of the face is sore. As a lawyer I may do something about this as this dr is extremely awful. read more

THIS IS A BAIT AND SWITCH When I called for a consultation, they told me that they would accept my insurance. That was an outright lie. I found this practice on ZocDoc after waking up to intense pain in my jaw. Despite my rudeness (I get grouchy when injured, I can admit that), the staff was very pleasant and helpful as we navigated my insurance. The practice itself is beautiful and modern, the staff remained pleasant and friendly throughout the experience. The Doctor confirmed my fear that I needed to get my wisdom teeth removed and worked with my schedule and medical conditions to find the best fit for this case. Went in for a cleaning and to have a sore tooth checked out. The cleaning was akin to my teeth being brushed and there was no more thorough plaque cleaning or even flossing performed. I was told I had two cavities and made an appointment to have them taken care of. When I returned for this appointment he only dealt with one cavity. I told him he had previously told me there were two and he assured me that was incorrect. I asked multiple times as I was quite confused by this change in plan. When he was finished I checked with the front desk again and was again assured there was only one cavity in my mouth. Five minutes after leaving the office I received a call saying they had been mistaken and I had a second cavity. I was told there were no available appointments for a month to have the second cavity taken care of. Incredibly unprofessional, especially given that I inquired MULTIPLE times with different staff members about this. What makes it even worse is that the filling he did put in is still incredibly sensitive to hot/cold months after the appointment. Needless to say, I switched dentists to have this fixed and the other cavity dealt with. read more

I went to Dr. Franks clinic few weeks ago for a check-up and dental cleaning. My dental hygienist Jonathan was very thorough. He took his time cleaning my tooth one after another and showed me how to floss and brush my teeth properly. After the procedure, I got to talk to Dr. Frank about a tooth that needs to be extracted and a couple of fillings. He told me to come back to his clinic and they should be able to come up with a package for me with the pricing. Two days ago, I went back and had my tooth extraction. Man, I was glad to Go to his clinic for it! He was very gentle and easy. Unlike few doctors, he was very careful and I felt like my mouth was respected and cared for. (Some of the doctors open your mouth and makes you feel uncomfortable, well not Dr Frank and his associates). I've always been scared of dental clinics but Dr. Frank and his team made me see theirs differently. The clinic itself is very clean and organized. I felt like I was in a spa. They even gave me a blanket and a warm neck pillow and offered me coffee/tea. (like seriously?!, they give you the full service! Like no others) Not to mention their background music is on point. All the staff seems happy to be working with Dr. frank and with each other. This is like the Disneyland for dental clinics. You leave the clinic with a healthy teeth and a bigger smile on your face. Dr Peritore is a good dentist but this office has major issues with how they quote and charge patients. They initially quoted me for quite a bit of work based on my insurance coverage, and pushed me to get a deep cleaning that was "absolutely necessary." At my next appointment the woman at the desk said that the girl who quoted me the first time was "just a temp" and that my quote didn't include said deep cleaning but that I really needed it. Okay so I pay several hundred extra dollars because they're acting like my teeth are going to fall out if I don't get this deep cleaning. The female hygienist also pushed me to get Arrestin in 10+ spots at $80 each and I had to tell her multiple times no I absolutely cannot afford that. I also had several cavities filled on later dates and in total payed them about $800 in copays with the majority covered by insurance. Now several weeks after the work was done the insurance has denied that my "necessary" deep cleaning was medically necessary and won't cover it. I'm also questioning why I was pushed to get Arrestin if they didn't even have the evidence to support the deep cleaning in the first place? Arrestin is for very deep pockets, and they failed to provide the insurance company that I even had deep enough pockets for a deep cleaning! Regardless that's $820 more dollars to Dr. Peritore and the office won't return my phone calls. If you have have infinite cash to spend on dental care then by all means go here, but if you'd prefer not to be pressured into services and jerked around and end up paying way more than they told you avoid at all costs. **Update** after about a month of trying to get a hold of someone at the office I was finally told I will not be billed for the procedure my insurance denied. Along with everyone else, I found him to be a slimy salesman more than a dentist and despised interacting with him. I kept going in for cleanings because the hygienist were fine and I didn't want to deal with switching dentists. My last cleaning I went in and immediately told the hygienist I was 6 weeks pregnant and she acted surprised I didn't want to do X-Rays (what?) Then at the end of my cleaning she said I had deep pockets in my gums and needed an antibiotic bead treatment (Arrestin) immediately. I asked her if it was safe in pregnancy and she said it definitely was and because it's "topical you don't have to worry about it causing effects elsewhere." I felt weird about it and declined (which she made me feel guilty for and told me "with your second you will be more laidback.") Thank god I wasn't because after asking my OB and a quick google search, I found the medication has been definitively shown to cause birth defects! My OB actually said her theory about it being less harmful on the gums was so incorrect because it's one of the fast routes of absorption to your bloodstream. I am so happy I walked out of there for the last time, DO NOT GO HERE, there are plenty of 4-5 star rated dentists on Graham or the other side of Meeker! read more

they charged me $250 dollars on an x ray on a single tooth... Before I came in, they said they had a free consultation where they will diagnose me. They said this to make me come in, couldnt be further from the truth. If they know you are using a voucher, they will over charge you so they can make more money. If you are using a voucher, dont let them know you have it until after they quote you. I saw online a x-ray for a single tooth is 75-100 dollars. They charged me $240. If you make my mistake and let them know you are paying with a voucher before hand, they will overquote. They only have the voucher deal to lure you in and arbitrarily charge to fit their needs. Will not be back, you shouldnt either. Plenty of hontest dentists out there, dont get screwed. Oh they do give you a gift bag a mug and toothbrush with their contact... in case you want to come back. I am SO HAPPY I found Dr. Peritore and his amazing staff! They are all so kind, smart, and funny. Dr. Peritore is very good at diagnosing and fixing all my problems (many of which were caused by my former dentist who was a HACK!) They have a comfortable waiting area and procedure rooms, and they have tons of swag that they give you if you need it (water, headphones, toothbrushes, etc.) But just as important as their high quality of work and lovely offices, I feel that they care for their patients in a very real way. Even with good insurance, it can be a struggle in NYC to find doctors that you can afford and that you feel won't take advantage of the average person's naiveté to the workings of our healthcare system. At Dr. Peritore's practice, I never get any surprises, and they are very up-front with the cost of everything they need to do. If cavities are found during my cleaning, they always give me a sheet of paper showing each filling and the cost to me after insurance BEFORE I undergo any work. During the cleaning, they give me optional add-ons and their prices before I say yes or no. I don't know why more doctors don't operate in this way, as it actually makes the patient WANT to come in more. The staff also remembers you when you return, and they remember things about you, so you really feel like they are friends as well as healthcare professionals. I found Dr. Peritore via 1-800-Dentist, even though I was a bit skeptical because of the source and the fact that I had no clue about 800 dentist. I have to say, from the very first phone call I was quite impressed with the courtesy extended by the front desk Personel, Amber, she's very sweet and efficient. When I made my first visit, I was blown away....the welcome my daughter and I received was super awesome ( my daughter is 12 and said she felt extremely comfortable. In a dental office?!) they checked us in right away, Jen the hygienist that prepped us is beyond amazing, we love her. Dr. Peritore is really really nice and is by far the best dentist I've encountered and will be the only Dentist my family and I will be using. I'll recommend them to ALL my friends an family. I have visited Dr. Peritore for years and recently had a root canal and veneer replacement. Both were emergencies and he and his staff got me in and taken care of immediately. They are extremely nice and helpful and efficient. His new office is beautiful, clean and peaceful. If you want a no hassle, highly skilled dentist, he's your man. The prices are very good, as I compared several quotes and Geoffrey is amazing with helping set up payment plans if you need to. I am not a fan of having dental work done, but I actually like going to this office. I highly recommend him and have recommended to friends and they were very pleased as well. read more
