BUYER BEWARE if you're coming from out of state. I was working a deal on a truck, had a deal sheet prepared for me, and got far enough into the process that i started to apply for financing. Took the credit hit and I started shopping for flights to Kentucky. Then the a relayed message from the "manager" came up telling me they wouldn't sell the truck to an out-of-state buyer. Wouldn't even speak to me on it. Disappointing to take the credit hit but good thing I didn't book the $400+ plane ticket first. Here's what doesn't make sense: if you have a policy against selling to out-of-state buyers, why advertise your inventory nationwide? Why spend time working a deal and preparing paperwork only to pull the plug because of where the buyer lives? It feels like either the dealership doesn't know its own policies or they don't value customers' time. Either way, it was a frustrating and disappointing experience. A simple "we only sell to Kentucky residents" at the beginning would have saved everyone the wasted time. read more

I would not go back there. We bought a brand new Rav4 and have come to regret it. No one explained the car to us and six month later we still don't know its functions. It is low key alright. This is the worst sales and car experience I ever had. Went to look at another car elsewhere and this salesman really really tried. Dan Hicks is a expert at gouging people. First , I was not informed that the Highlander had nearly 8000 miles on it After the sale , I got on your site and put in my cars infor . It was over 4000 of what Hicks give me . Then to add insult to injuries, Felicia did not know anything at all about the Highlander. I told her the infotainment center was not showing the settings icon and she did not know or contact anyone about it . Dan said he would have the cross bars removed then came back and said Toyota had put the wrong covers so they did not remove them. The road noise is very bad with them . The first deal offered was $10 off the vehicle. We should have gotten up and walked out at that point, that was our mistake. After buying eight cars from Frankfort Toyota over the past decade, I can no longer recommend them. Here's why... I recently bought a Certified used Camry from them. A few weeks later, I took the car on its first road trip and discovered that the tires were out of balance at interstate speeds. I was told that my certified warranty wouldn't cover rebalancing the tires. A couple weeks later, I noticed that part of the rear window defroster wasn't working. I asked the dealership about that, and they said it was covered, and asked me to bring it in. I was then told that if they found any indication whatsoever that the problem was not a manufacturing defect that the repair wouldn't be covered, and that I'd owe them a $150 checkout fee! In other words, I would have to gamble. I also brought up the tire balance issue again, and got the following snarky, hateful, condescending response... "We are more than happy to repair your vehicle, [but] anything not covered by your Certified Warranty will be your responsibility to pay including quoted diagnostic fees, maintenance, tire balancing, etc. If you are okay with this, [then] we can move forward, and if not we have nothing further to discuss". Frankfort Toyota used to be different. They cared about, and worked with their customers in a spirit of fairness. Obviously, that is no longer the case. They are now just another callous, greedy dealership, hellbent on making their owners even more filthy rich than they already are. They don't deserve my business, and will never see me again. We purchased a used Hyundai Tucson 40 days ago. Although we asked for the car fax report they did not provide it until after the sale when we told them we found documents in the glove box saying that there a had been over $5000 in repairs at a collision center. They did nothing except say that they had serviced it and they could do nothing more. Now with less than 1000 miles since driving it, the car wouldn't go over 55 mph and started making noise. Found out from a local shop that it is the catalytic converter and the repair would be $4000. The dealership was notified and we were told they couldn't do anything and it was our responsibility. They sold us a lemon and are taking no responsibility. Would not recommend buying from them. read more

I bought a Rav 4 here a year ago and gave a glowing review. Sales team was great! However, their service department (Johnny-yes you) desperately-DESPERATELY-needs training on how to have a conversation with women. I had a concern about an issue with my vehicle. I asked if it was under warranty. Johnny treated me as if I was his sixteen year old daughter that just had her third wreck! Scolded me, told me it wasn't under warranty, and when I asked to speak to someone else her ordered me to have a seat in the waiting area. Yes, as a 55 year old woman that has been employed as driver for the federal government for 25 years, I took my scolding with my head down. And then, I thought, what am I doing?! I will never set foot in this place ever again. I was looking to purchase a 2014.5 Camry. I told the salesman, Steven Tewell, that i didn't not need to trade but was looking to see the best deal i could get and if i got a good deal i would trade. By the way, Mr Tewell is the owners brother. I was looking to trade my fully loaded 2013 Santa Fe. They low-balled my trade by half of original MSRP for a one year old car! When they showed me the proposal we stood up and walked out. They continuously asked for the payoff balance which i would not disclose. They want that information so that they can trick you into believing you are getting a good deal. One of our vehicles went kaput recently. After learning of the repair cost to the vehicle, my wife contacted one of the salesmen, Eric, and told him what was going on. He told us to not repair the car and that he would be at the dealership at 8:30 the next morning. We arrived about 8:15 and met with Eric. He answered our questions, had the car we were interested in brought up, pointed out the features of the car and possible upgrades, then lead us through the purchase process. I am trying to trade in my 2017 Dodge Challenger for a vehicle at Frankfort Toyota, but they offered me $4,000 less than several competitors! Glad I shopped around and for other offers rather than just "biting the bullet" and letting them get away with it. Again, beware if you are thinking of trading in! Left this review on the Yelp review site for Toyota North America since they were so awful, but the problem started here..... FYI... corporate told me this was on my local dealership as quote " they would have informed me of this problem after I bought the vehicle because they run the VIN when it's brought in for service to see if they are any outstanding issues"....... imnplying that I did not take care of the vehicle. Joke's on them.....I did bring the vehicle in to Frankfort Toyota after I bought it and was never informed of anything. Despite all this, Toyota never took responsibility or offered to help. Horrible customer service......rude and antagonizing. I bought a 2008 Highlander in 2015 from my local dealership. It had a little less than 100,000 miles, and was in really decent shape for it's age. I figured this vehicle would last me another 100,000 miles or so. At 115,000 miles in late June of 2018, I was in my parking lot at work and oil started pouring out of my vehicle. Thank goodness I wasn't driving or I would have needed a new motor. It drained 6 quarts of oil in 10 minutes. My local dealership told me not to worry, my extended warranty would cover it. While the vehicle was in the shop, I did some research and discovered that this model Highlander had been built with a faulty engine oil cooler line. Apparently a recall had never been issued on the part, just an "extended campaign" on the part. I was never informed of this when I bought the vehicle, nor in the 3 years after purchase. I was also informed by Toyota that the extended warranty they sold me when I bought the vehicle would not cover this either. I was pretty upset.......Toyota knew this model had a bad part, but I was never informed and Toyota refused to take responsibility. Luckily, I was not driving the vehicle when it happened or Toyota would have told me I was on the hook for a new engine. My local dealership told me to call the corporate office as they were aware of the issue and would help me. What a joke! The lady I spoke to at corporate said "Well we mailed a notice for this to the owner in February of 2015". That's great, but I didn't buy the vehicle until September of 2015. The conversation got much worse from there....the woman I spoke to (a supervisor no less) become rude and belligerent. That was absolutely the last straw for me.Toyota refused to take responsibility for this issue. I fixed it and got rid of the vehicle, as I didn't want to be responsible for any future issues from having 6 quarts of oil spray all over my motor at a high velocity. I guess I should count my lucky stars that I wasn't driving, and my engine didn't blow. I got rid of the vehicle, and purchased a brand new Chevy. Smart business decision Toyota....could have spent $400 fixing your defective part, and I would have been happy to purchase a brand new vehicle from you. Somehow I guess that makes financial sense to you, but not me. I will never purchase another Toyota, and neither will anyone in my family. Seems to me, in the end, it will cost you a lot more than just replacing my part, but that is how you want it. Toyota's bottom line is their most important consideration, not providing good customer service. read more

I AM POSTING THIS WARNING FOR YOUR BENEFIT, get everything in writing. Select "sort by lowest rating" to see what they are capable of. Deceptive practice (to promise me a second key and not putting it on the paperwork is deceptive), threats (by the owner) and stalling tactics (not answering the phone or returning my calls), a very unpleasant experience. I will remove this post when I receive the key I was promised. I will get a key myself on the 22nd, after that the post will not be removed. The fact that the second key is not on my paperwork is the fault of the salesman and this is not why they should honer the promise they made to me. It appears that they do not value their own promises. The owner has now told me that he will not honor his promise because I have posted this complaint, which I posted because he made a veiled threat He stood up and said to me "we can do this the easy way or we can do this the other way." I felt threatened we he said that and I think that was his intention. I also filed a complaint with the BBB and Toyota of America headquarters not because they told me to wait 17 days for a key but because the owner became upset and used a veiled threat against me. Original post: I bought a used car from Toyota of Frankfort but it only had one key. I told the salesman I won't buy a car with one key so they promised they would get me a second key but after a week, nothing. I went down there to find out when they would give me a second key and the owner got mad at me and told me to wait another ten days. Very strange service in my opinion. I would not recommend them to a friend. I also had a problem with their service department. Their master mechanic replaced my timing belt, water pump and serpentine belts on my 2004 Solera but failed to properly tension the longer serpentine belt. Additional note; most of the people that gave a five star rating only posted one time. Could this be a coincidence? Could they have been coerced? Could many of them be be friends and family? This review is for the SERVICE department at Frankfort Toyota. I first went to Frankfort toyota in January when I purchased our van. The experience was wonderful and we were very satisfied. I then went back about 3 months later for a routine service maintenance. We were able to get a shuttle ride to go grab breakfast and then our vehicle was ready waiting on us when we returned. Again, wonderful experience. Here I am, about 3 months later. I made an appt for today to get my car routinely serviced again at 230. I called ahead of time to double check what all of the service included this visit. I spoke to beth (?). I asked about warranty since last time I did not pay for the service. She informed me that I did not have warranty on it but that the first 4 maintenance visits were free- 2 tire rotations and 2 tire rotation/oil changes. I then confirmed my appt time. I arrived about 5 minutes late and checked in. The worker asked if I had warranty, I said "no, i'm not sure what it is I have". She said ok and told me the estimate- same thing as before. I then went to the waiting room. I was previously told my appt would only take about 30 minutes. I sat in the waiting room until 330 when I got up to ask how much longer it would be. After I said I had been there "about an hour" It was corrected to "50 minutes" by the worker who called to check the status and said my car was finished and they were finishing up paperwork in the back. I went back into the waiting room and sat for about 10 more minutes. When they came to get me my van was waiting. I went to the checkout and was charged for the visit even though I was told prevously I wouldnt be. I mentioned this to the worker, who, rather rudely said "well I asked if you had any kind of warranty and you said no". I told her I had spoken to beth and she said "well thats why I asked if you had any warranty". I paid for the visit and drove off...only to find that my "maintenance required" lights had not been reset. I turned around and went back thru. The same worker told me that I had to reset these manually. I've never had to do this before and had no idea how. She showed me how. Overall, I am not happy with today's visit and would not recommend. It is disappointing, because my husband is going to be looking to purchase a new toyota truck in the next couple months, we had our mind set on frankfort toyota but I really do feel we need to consider other dealerships. I expect consistency and I did not receive that today. I really do not think I will make the 30 minute drive back next time (I live in lawrenceburg near the BG parkway). I can have my vehicle serviced somewhere closer with consistent customer service. read more

I was looking for a certified used Toyota since they are supposed to pass an alleged 160 point inspection.The Toyota I test drove and ended up buying was fine until I drove it for a few days & noticed the rpms would fluctuate alot when I was cruising at around 40 mph. I also noticed some dings and chips in the paint. Also one of the power windows didn't work right. They fixed all the issues it had, but I don't think it really deserved the "certified" title. I also didnt like the shady up selling tactics Dana the finance guy tried shoving down my throat with the way over priced extended warranty with scare tactics of all the things that can go wrong and that I'd be spending a fortune if it wasn't covered under the extended warranty I needed to purchase from them. Whatever you do please dont pay the asking price for the extended warranty if you decide to get it. They tried to sell it to me for around $1,900, but I got them to give it to me for alot less.....do your homework on what you should pay for a warranty before you buy a car please. Also the crock of crap about applying the special coating to the exterior & interior was dumb & useless. Just google the coating treatment to learn more about it. Just be forewarned and be sure to do your homework on car buying before you car shop here or anywhere. Also if you decide to buy an extended warranty pay for it separately if you can afford to cause if they work it into the loan you will have to pay more in interest for it and the registration will cost you more too. Bottom line...do your homework! read more
