This is a beautiful little sandwich shop that's becoming a must-go-to spot in The Gables. It's just off of Ponce de Leon, not too far from a few other great eateries. As soon as you enter, there are great staff members greeting you and giving you instructions for the best experience. I appreciated the information and the smiles. You place your order half-way into the interior at the register. I took some pictures of the menu because there's no overhead board or poster with the menu. So far, I've tried The Wally's, the BLT, and the Carrot Cake. I posted some pictures of each one. The Wally's is a terrific turkey sandwich with great crusty bread. One thing to consider if whether or not you have the teeth necessary to penetrate the crunchy bread. You get your choice of plain or sesame bread--the sesame is the one! The BLT might not be what you expected. This bacon isn't the thin and crispy kind that you might be expecting. Instead, it's more of a steakhouse, thick cut bacon with plenty of flavor, but no crunch. In fact, the flavorful fat is only great if you don't mind soft bacon steaks. The spread is very special in the BLT. It's a spicy and flavorful creamy dressing. The bread is also grilled, which is something to consider if you're getting it to go. It will steam and not retain the crunch that they were going for when they prepared it. It's still a good sandwich, just know what you're getting into. The carrot cake is good, but nowhere near being worth the price. It's also on the sweeter side. I'd only recommend it to those with an overly sweet tooth.
Frankie and Wally's lives up to the hype! The sandwiches were huge and big enough to share. They have a large selection of chip bags to choose from. And the atmosphere is so pleasant and welcoming with lots of outdoor seating. Definitely want to come back to explore the market items that they have. I do wish they were open more than 4 days a week because I do always have to check back on their hours before deciding to go.
Stopped by Frankie Wally's and ordered The Frankie. The sandwich was packed with flavor, with a great combination of meats, cheese, and toppings on fresh bread. Pricey for a sandwich but the portion was generous. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was casual and welcoming. Great food and I definitely will be coming back.
Went for breakfast today and realized I got there too late... or so I thought. Turns out I got there at the perfect time for their super limited Pauchi sandwich. I had no idea they were making it today, but I ended up being the first customer to grab one. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint. The seasoning was incredible, and the way the breading clung to that cutlet was next level. You can tell this was homemade because getting a crust that crispy and light isn't something you just throw together. I know these won't last long, so sorry to everyone who misses out... because you're seriously missing an amazing sandwich. On top of the food, I just love the vibes. Kathy, Wally, and the whole crew always make you feel welcome. Great people, great atmosphere, and amazing food every time.
Frankie and Wally's is the perfect example of how to balance character and incredible quality. From the second you step up to the entrance the place feels like you're stepping into another Miami dimension, one where you'll find some of the most unique snack finds and most delicious sandwiches in town. The small market area and ordering experience are so enjoyable and every staff member I have interacted with has been incredibly thoughtful and kind. I've also had the chance to meet both Frankie & Wally and getting to see them behind the kitchen and sharing the story and passion with every customer is a truly special experience. Now the food, the wally & the chopped cheese are my absolute favorites. Although they are on the pricier side for sandwiches, their size makes up for it and every time I have gone I have been able to share one with my partner. I have tried both the sesame and white breads and for some reason the white's texture was better imo. But they both were delicious nonetheless. Try to visit during weekdays for a calmer experience since it can get crowded super quickly and also often sell out of the crowd faves by the afternoon.
Idk I really wanted to love this place and maybe will try it again because out of all the sandwiches they had, only about two were available. Speaking only on the sandwiches I did choose I felt they were overpriced, as were very similar in flavor to Jersey Mikes, which I love. The flavor itself was good! Really good! But again overpriced, prices seem excessive but it is in coral gables... tried a strawberry matcha with tonic or soda water i think and it was gross, but thats on me I completely didn't realize what I was getting myself into. The service was great and was able to exchange for an iced coffee (which was okay, nothing crazy). If you would love a great coffee with a great sandwich, I would suggest you just get the sandwich here then go somewhere else for coffee. The staff are very nice though! So since I didnt get to try the ones I wanted, I will come back but only if already in the area.

The chocolate chip cookies are a must and tend to sell out quickly. I'm already looking forward to coming back to try their famous lasagna. The space itself has a warm, welcoming, at-home feel. Wow wow wow. I have been dying to try Frankie and Wally's and I loved it so much when I popped in for the first time that I went two days in a row. It's that good. First of all - I love the team member who welcomes you when you walk in - OG - he is so funny and friendly! This is a curated grocery shop and also sandwich spot which is beautifully decorated and super welcoming. When you order, there are two lines - one for coffee /tea and food and one for just food. I hit up the coffee line both days because a girl needs caffeine. I love my oat milk lattes. On my first visit I got the bacon egg and cheese - divine! The most buttery pressed croissant and perfect balance of sweet and savory with the tomato jam and crispy bacon. The next day, I opted for Il Padrino - their version of an Italian. Damn. This was massive and great. So I am going to talk about the price - this sandwich was not cheap, it was $25. However - it is huge, and you can definitely split it so in girl math that's $12.50 - a win in my book. I ate some there and had the rest as my second meal later. Also - one of the things you can tell about these sandwiches are that the quality of the ingredients in them are superior to your regular deli sub. You truly do get what you pay for, and at Franky and Wally's you are getting a wonderful sandwich and supporting a local business. There is seating indoors and a beautiful patio outside. Can't wait to go back!

Run don't walk here if you truly enjoy a good fresh sandwich. The price is a bit high for a sandwich but you get what you pay for !!! High quality meats, fresh veggies on the sandwich and great service .... I can't believe I haven't gone before .. Oh and don't leave without the chocolate chip cookie !! This place is so beautiful! It's like a retro diner meets European market! I like how there is 2 separate registers for coffee and food, and all the cute groceries you can shop for. I ended up picking out sourdough rotini to try at home. For coffee i had a regular iced latte with oat milk. The quality of the latte was very good. The tuna sandwich is okay. The bread is tasty and fresh, but the tuna tastes pretty fishy. It needs more mayo and more seasoning. You absolutely need to try their chocolate chip cookie! It has so much chocolate and the sea salt is a great touch, too. I ate outside in their little courtyard area. So nice. Make sure to keep your doorman, he was so friendly :)
Went back again....yes that good! I don't normally eat bread but I found myself craving another one of these subs...yummy! I didn't mention this previously but the ingredients are super fresh (shaved paper thin) which is super important for the texture. The lettuce is also shaved, so so good I can't recommend it enough. I had been wanting to try these sandwiches for a long time and apparently you have to get there early because I couldn't even try the chopped cheese or the strami which are two of the most popular ones. Out of the four options left I opted for the "Oh Honey" with turkey, bacon, cheddar cheese, arugula, tomato, mayo, honey mustard, salt, pepper and olive oil. It wasn't what I went there for but still a solid delicious sandwich. They're not skimping on portions at all. The honey mustard it's the cherry on top. Washed it down with one of the best iced lattes I've had in a while...Star Anise cinnamon latte. Service is also top notch and place is kinda cute, not gonna lie. I will most definitely be coming back for the chopped cheese and strami.
If you're planning on going on a weekend, get here early or plan on waiting in a line. It moves quickly, but just like every other Miami hot spot, it will be packed. Staff is friendly and eager to help. The ambiance feels like you're at a family owned deli that sells niche items. It gives upscale bodega. The sandwiches are massive!! But they are so refreshing and packed with flavor. The ventanita coffee with guayaba cold foam was unique, but not sure I'd spend $10 on it again. This place is great if you have time to spare! I don't recommend coming in large groups.

Absolutely amazing experience from start to finish! From the moment I walked through the door, I immediately felt right at home. OG was incredibly welcoming, kind, and personable and truly elevated the entire experience. You can tell there is so much care put into making every customer feel special! The atmosphere is beautiful, warm, and inviting, and the food was absolutely incredible--so fresh, flavorful, and delicious. This is the kind of place you find once and immediately know you'll be coming back to again and again. I'm already looking forward to bringing my husband here next time! I finally made it to Frankie & Wally's this Saturday on a rainy day, and I was excited to try it since my husband had been there before. Overall, my honest opinion--it's an okay spot. The sandwiches were fresh and nicely made, but the bread was a little too hard for my taste. The iced latte was pretty standard, nothing special, and tasted a bit watered down. The place itself is beautiful and very charming. The patio is definitely a highlight and a great spot to sit and enjoy your meal. I also tried the carrot cake--it was nice and sweet (not overly heavy), but I wasn't a big fan of the frosting. In general, it's a place I'd stop by if I'm already in the area, but not somewhere I'd go out of my way for. That said, it's still worth trying at least once. read more

Just average really crowded and cramped. Separate line for coffee/food. I ordered an iced anise cinnamon latte and was charged an additional .50 cent for it iced. Really unnecessary charge that ive never seen at any coffee shop. The drink itself was nothing special and came out to $9. read more

My new favorite place! I've been nearly once a week for the past month -- their iced vanilla latte is one of my favorites in the city and completely craveable! Consistent, creamy, balanced and perfectly sweet with house-made vanilla bean syrup! The Il Padrino is my favorite of all the sandwiches I've tried so far! The Wally comes in second followed by chopped cheese. But Il Padrino with the hot peppers and sesame bread is where it's at! Cute curated market, farm fresh eggs!! And great service every time I've been. The garden patio in the back is so cute and just lovely to enjoy the nice weather, an iced vanilla latte or matcha, and your sandwich read more
this place has become part of my weekly routine! Was a girl on a mission and finally got to try a sandwich and a matcha! and let me just say... wow! I got the ill padrino on sesame bread and it was delicious!! It was super flavorful, fresh and a great size! Very expensive for what it is for example 2 small/kiddie latte's $15 and you have to order at a separate cash register. So i went to the sandwiches order area for a $20-25 sub. about 10:20am & was told i could not order until 11:00am Ok so we just left. There has been 3 restaurant failures prior at this location in past 15 yrs and this one imo has not started off on the right track even though this soft opening. All new, has a small market inside. The adjacent parking lot can not be used you have to pay at street meter, no cash payments for food, small amount of seating inside. I was not impressed however it is located right off Ponce de Leon & Palermo just West of the Loews Hotel if you go. read more

The food is very delicious here. You can tell that it is very high quality, and the taste is what shines. I've gotten the BEC on brioche and croissant both times, and it is very good. It has a nice spread or jelly that really makes the sandwich unique. The staff is super friendly and helpful, and it has a nice atmosphere. Come in here. read more

Frankie & Wally's is located just blocks from my home & a few doors down from my hair salon. I had been waiting with bated breath for what seemed like an eternity for them to open so could not have been happier when they did. Popped in recently for a coffee & a quick bite. First impression? Not a fan of the 2 separate lines: one to order food & one to order coffee. Totally unnecessary & caused quite a bottle-neck right at the entrance. Anyways, placed my order(s) to eat in then sat down to wait for what seemed like an eternity. The space IS adorable. Very "instagramable" & lots of things to look at while you wait (& wait). When they finally called my name, they had accidentally packed it to go. Didn't have the heart (or the patience) to let her know, so I just took my to-go bag & walked home. Coffee was ok. Sandwich was decent but was missing something. Maybe the onion jam was too sweet along with the roll? Maybe the egg needed more salt & pepper? In any case, good quality & definitely plan to be back since they only recently opened & may just be experiencing some growing pains. read more

Space is great. Big open terrace out back with a bunch of tables. Service is slow. They actually told other customers "only open 3 weeks" so give us a break. That's not what I'd want to hear. Besides really good sandwiches. They have other mustards. Spreads. Jams. Coffee. Etc to purchase. Which i did. . I got what I'd call an Italian combo. A generous portion of meat and cheese. A few too many dressings for my taste. But it was good. The bread looks better than it is. It looks crispy on the outside. It's not. But it's not the same soft bread most miami sub shops use. It's better. It's Just not an Italian bread feel. Prices are crazy. $17 for a tuna fish one. $20-25 for a meat hero. Big enough to share. Over priced restaurants usually don't last in Coral Gables. Their location is in a lower rent district for the area. U won't find it walking around town. It's not a high traffic street. So maybe it can spend some years there. I'll go again. read more

I was born & raised in New York; so I practically lived off deli sandwiches. Frankie and Wally's hands down has one of the best deli sandwiches in the Miami area. However, this place definitely gives gentrified Deli so the prices are obviously high. ( just about $30 for a turkey/cheese/bacon/ lettuce/tomato sandwich & an Arizona's iced tea ). overall, though everything is really good, and the store itself is aesthetically pleasing. read more
The place is gorgeous and charming. The staff is friendly and service was fast. The "IL Padrino" is their take an Italian sandwich. It is well stacked with lots of meat, super fresh veggies and served on fresh bread with great texture and freshness. Probably the best Italian I've had in Miami, that being said is it worth the $32 price tag after tax and tip with no side or drink? That's for you to decide. read more

The sandwich was excellent, as fresh as can be. I had the Wally turkey sandwich and it was exceptional. The restaurant was the nicest looking sandwich shop I've ever been in and no one has been in more than I have, well few people anyway. The market was eclectic with local produce and high end products such as tinned seafood. My only complaint and why I took a star off was the delay from placing my order to receiving it. I am going back because the sandwich is well worth the wait and even more importantly this was only their second day so I'm sure they will improve their production. read more
