Working in the Gables I tend to order delivery more than I should. I am very please with Al's. You can order online with no fuss and I love their site! So easy to use and the specials are updated every day. Now for the food. I have to admit that all I have ordered...two days in a row now, is the Body Builder omelette with real bacon instead of the turkey bacon that it comes with. This thing is massive and filled with red onions, peppers, cucumber, tomato, turkey and olives. I add cheese to the deal because...well why not! It also comes with sliced tomatoes. Now before you start thinking that I'm crazy for ordering such a large omelette well I cut it in half and I have half for breakfast and half for lunch and for around $10 you can't beat it! Great staff!!! Cute little place! My pesto chicken wrap and split pea soup were delicious!!! Perfect to run in for a quick lunch! They have sooo much from cookies to wraps, croquettes, coffee, candy, even cigarettes. There's plenty of seating even it's such a small spot. If I could give it less than a single start I would. Can you believe that I found a piece of metal, yes you heard correctly, METAL on my toast. I was biting onto the toast and felt something hard and as I pulled the foreign item I found a piece of metal. Seems to be maybe the tie that is used to wrap the bread or maybe similar to the metal piece that is used for ice. This is extremely unsafe and I'm not sure what they're doing back there but there is no type of safety or sanitation procedures in the kitchen apparently, me and my coworkers used to order Al's religiously. I love that they have online ordering through their own website and even provide a guestimate as to when your order will arrive, usually 20 minutes later. While everything is delicious here, my go-to's are: The Croqueta sandwich for breakfast, add eggs, with a colada. Deelish! also, the Veggie burger with cheese. What a surprise to find this mom and pop/hole in the wall restaurant in the middle of Coral Gables. It's a little difficult to find. Be aware you have to walk inside the building. It will be to your left. Once you enter there are few tables, seating 2-4 people at most. The lines, during lunch, are about 4-8 people long, and the ladies at the register handle everything with efficiency and care. Very good customer service. I have come here quite a few times and have been able to try multiple items on their menu. I'm normally not the type to write reviews on here but after the amazing experience I've had here I feel like I have to. Visiting Als coffee shop was an absolute delight. The rich aroma of their freshly brewed coffee, paired with a cozy ambiance, set the perfect stage for a delightful experience. The baristas were extremely friendly, crafted each cup with care, and overall have served me an amazing cup of coffee every single time I've stopped by. Aside from their wonderful coffee the menu offers a variety of breakfast and lunch options. So far I've tried their quesadillas, chicken sandwich, breakfast sandwich, Asian salad, a few of their wraps, the Philly cheesesteak (very underrated in my opinion), and they've all tasted amazing. They have a few tables inside if you'd like to dine in but the food also comes out very quickly so if you're in a rush it's a great place to order from. Every time I've eaten here the manager has been extremely friendly always coming out to check on the customers and asking if everything came out okay. I work in the heart of Coral Gables. I got a typical office job, 9-5, with an hour lunch break. In a town with so many expensive restaurants, Al's comes to the rescues for those of us trying to budget and have a great meal. It is not a large restaurant by any means, 4-5 tables that'll fit 15 people tops, but they deliver to pretty much anywhere in the Gables and they are quick! If you are near by, you can drop in and pick up your order, as they usually keep the line moving fast so you won't have to wait long. They got a good assortment of breakfast items at very reasonable prices... I enjoy the power breakfast, which is scrambled egg whites tossed with ground turkey, grilled onions and bell peppers. The pan con croqueta & breakfast quesadilla (a quesadilla stuffed with eggs and breakfast meat of your choice) are also very tasty. They used to have $0.25 croquetas on "croqueta Tuesday" but no longer run this promotion. Bring it back Al! For lunch, every day of the week they have a "recession special", a "bail out salad" and a "soup of the day". The recession special is a sandwich or wrap that for the day is $3.75. It is usually the same thing every week.. A "ropa vieja wrap" which literally has ropa vieja in it with rice... A "Mac & cheese wrap" that comes with popcorn chicken in it (my favorite). Media Noche & tuna wrap are also some of their other recession specials. The Bail Out Salad will run you $4.95. We're talking big salads here. The Asian Chicken salad and Popcorn chicken Cobb salad are at the top of my list. Great bang for your buck. Other great items on the menu are the Protein stir fry with chicken or steak, the chipotle black bean burger, pesto chicken wrap, egg salad sandwich and any of their cheese melts. They also have great sweet potato fries! My only knocks on Al's is their little credit card charge. If it's not cash, they slap an additional charge of $0.50 to your order. So if I want to go by and grab a snack; banana, protein bar, bag of chips, candy bar... And I don't have cash, my $1 banana is now $1.50. As for their snacks, unlike the rest of the menu, they are extremely overpriced. I'm getting rang up $4 for a protein bar that I usually get for $2 or under, $1 for a banana. It's a bit odd. Overall, I'd give it a 4 1/2 stars if I could, but I'm giving it a 4 because it ain't perfect. I'm still getting my breakfast tomorrow though Al, so don't hate me! read more

The best part about Al's Coffee Shop is that they provide extremely fast delivery. I order often from the Coral Gables area and receive my food in 15-20 minutes. My co-workers regularly order from this place because the food tastes good, it's reasonably priced, and we receive our food quickly even if we order at noon. I've ordered the pan con bistec many times, and I've never been disappointed. It tastes great and is only $5.49. I wanted to try something new so I ordered the BLT sandwich. It tasted OK (How can you mess up bacon, lettuce and tomatoes?) but the bread was very stale. That was probably my only negative experience with Al's. I ordered my food on the phone with Tony that day and he was a bit rude, but overall, their service is excellent. I always place my order with a credit card on the phone, and I don't really like that they write out my entire card number with the expiration date on the receipt. I have stopped by the this location a number of times in the past year. However, I will never go back to this place. The service of one of the girls behind the counter with black hair is beyond rude. She sees that I or other people are standing at the counter waiting to place an order and she does not help any of us until someone finally says something because she is too busy talking and laughing in the back with one of the other employees. Or, she will come up to the counter and help someone else that she knows instead of the people waiting at the counter. Yummy. The food is great for a quick lunch bite. I get delivery from them several days a week. They're incredibly fast, and the food is always hot. The delivery guys are usually on bicycle or scooter, and I'm only a few blocks away so my lunch arrives in a matter of 10-15 minutes. That's way better service than I can get from any of the other local spots. There's a broad selection of items on the menu, ranging from stir-fry to Philly Subs. The only (minor) complaint that I'd have is that the crinkle cut fries are sometimes over seasoned.
