Went with my family to dinner here while we were on vacation at Hilton Head. We made reservations before we got there. The place was busy for a Monday night. Plenty of parking was available when we arrived. The hostess seated us promptly. My wife and I each got a glass of red wine. The drink service was a little bit slow. We ordered appetizers for the table. The steamed clams were flavorful. The white sauce was on point. We asked for bread to sop it up. The calamari was as crispy as it was described in the menu. The entire family enjoyed both dishes. For dinner we all shared several plates. The shrimp scampi was stellar. The shrimp tasted fresh and the sauce was balanced well with it. The chicken parmigiana was just the right size and taste for its price. The chicken was cooked perfectly too. The veal ravioli was a favor explosion in my mouth. This dish was the one I enjoyed the most of all the dinner meals on the table. For dessert, we all split the dessert sampler which includes Carrot Cake, Tiramisu and Cannoli. The Carrot Cake was moist and sweet. The Tiramisu hit the spot. I think everyone enjoyed the Cannoli the most. It seemed fresh and not frozen like many places serve. Overall, Frankie Bones was a nice place to go for a family dinner. The restaurant was clean. The bathrooms looked nice and well kept. The service seemed a little slow at times, but there could be many reasons for that. Nonetheless, I would go back here again for an enjoyable Italian dinner with my family. read more

The military officer association chapter just had their general membership lunch meeting at Frankie bones in Blufton. Our servers were Jill P and Kathia A.. I'm already a fan of the Hilton Head location and was excited to try their newest location in Bluffton. I'm happy to say that I was not disappointed! My 2 friends and I sat in a booth that was not only safe distancing but a high-back booth not crammed together like some places. We ordered delicious martinis to start. My rainbow trout was cooked perfectly and served with delicious rice pilaf. I loved the lemon butter sauce that accompanied my fish! The asparagus was perfectly prepared, as well. Our server was fun and checked on us often. We loved her pouring our chocolate martinis at the table! Yummy! We moved outside and enjoyed more martinis until after the last person left. Went here on a Thursday night shortly after they reopened following the COVID-19 shutdown. We decided to sit outside and the tables were well spaced six feet apart. Our server welcomed us right away and let us look over the menu, which was full of Italian and American dishes. I ordered the Chicken Paisano, pan sautéed breaded cutlets topped with provolone cheese, broccoli and lemon garlic mushroom sauce. Others in my party ordered a rack of ribs and the Italian Sausage Pasta. I wasn't super impressed with the Chicken Paisano. It tasted like breaded chicken saturated in gravy. It was just ok and I felt like I chose the wrong thing as I looked around at everyone else's meals. The ribs were great as was the pasta. Overall, the meal was tasty and the service was spectacular. We dine at Frankie Bones Bluffton moderately frequent for lunch. On our visit 8/28 our server was Jill P. She has not been on the job long flying solo and as we understood it was her first serving job. Well Done! Very personable and friendly. 1 Service was terrible - I guess asking for an unsweetened tea means that a customer does not get any sweetener?!! I had to explain that just because I ordered an unsweetened tea does not mean I don't want it sweetened with artificial sugar! OMG The waitress of oblivious! Serg group used to train their employees really well. Steve Carb (deceased owner) is turning over in his grave right now). 2 I ordered a "lunch special" Po'Boy. Came with KeyLime Aioli sauce. Thank God I had that put on the side! What in god's name is that? Horrible. I had to wait for a server to come back and I asked for cocktail sauce for my dry sesame loaf of bread where my shrimp was hiding in. I say shrimp because that is what it was supposed to be, but I guess in order to save money, the breading was so thick that you could not see or taste the shrimp! Now usually this restaurant is pretty good. Not this time. I don't know what is happening, but I will think twice before returning to this establishment. What a let down. read more

We've been in Bluffton for years but for some reason have never been to Frankie Bones. My son and I went today and had a great experience! He had the smash burger and I had the SW Chicken Salad. The portions were great for the price and the food was all cooked perfectly and delicious. We really enjoyed our server, Jill P.- she was very nice and personable too. Perfect Mom/Son lunch date! Frankly, I didn't even want to post an updated review, but after thinking how incredibly bad my lunch entree was today, I just had to. After a morning of errands, we were hungry and decided to go back to Frankie's for lunch at the bar. The pork schnitzel dish with spaetzle and purple cabbage sounded like the comfort food I was craving for. This is something I often make at home, so I was thrilled to have someone else do the work. When the dish came out it actually looked promising. The pork had been pounded down, was well breaded, golden brown and crispy. Unfortunately the kitchen forgot that food must be seasoned, not just after the fact by the diner but during the entire cooking process. The pork had no flavor, neither did the breading. The mini German style " herbed dumplings" were a disgrace. They were gummy, completely unseasoned and flavorless. The purple cabbage just tasted sour. No balance of the usual richness, slightly sweet and tangy nature of this preparation. We sat at the bar so drink service seemed to take priority as no one ever asked if we were enjoying our food. Done with you, Mr. Bones. I'll stick with home cooking. read more

First, and last visit. Waiter was fine. I ordered the hot meatball sandwich and my wife ordered eggplant parmigiana. The meatballs had very little taste and seemed to be mostly bread with a small portion of meat. The fries were ok at best The eggplant parmigiana looked like it came from an interstate highway fast food restaurant. Everything was bland, at best. Way below what we had heard. read more

Went to early bird on thursday Nov 3. Salad was good but soggy. Hubby had shrimp, fish and rice dish. Very very small portion. Shrimp tasted old. I had spaghetti squash and shrimp. My husband and I highly recommend this newly found restaurant in Bluffton, SC, near Hilton Head, SC and not far from Savannah, GA. The Food had great presentation, temperature, portions, and flavor!!! We enjoyed every bit until we couldn't eat anymore. Visiting my sister and husband. We took them to Frankie Bones and all 4 ordered steak. My sister's prime rib was ordered medium and came rare. My husband steak was ordered medium rare and was rare. That is 2 out of 4 correct. Manager and waitress offered to cook a little longer. Problem with this is everyone will be fine eating when your meal comes back. My husband had to remind waitress he ordered an extra side. Their margarita special was shaken at table and put in a martini glass. Did not taste like a margarita. The waitress was very experienced and friendly. Made every effort to provide service recovery. After all of this, my husband, who did nit finish his meal, had an upset stomach from his Caesar salad. He was the only one who ordered salad. Overall, I loved the environment and waitstaff. The kitchen may be behind the scenes but is the primary reason you go yo a restaurant. For the food! read more

Been 5 times during my last three visits and consistently experience the same issues. Overall a mediocre experience. It seems they are a bit disorganized between FOH and BOH management. Take three of the five times: the servers showed little desire to keeping our drinks filled or checking on us (and no we were not there at the busy times). This last time we arrived a few minutes after 8, our food was delivered minutes before 9, we asked for tea refills only to be told they closed at 9 and they had poured out the tea.. The food has generally been good although lukewarm not hot. We've been for breakfast too. Waited almost 40 minutes for our order; the server told us that it the kitchen is slow for orders because the buffet. The ambiance was fine; it's busy and guests seem to be enjoying themselves. It's a lively casual atmosphere. Three of the five times we have had reservations. Wish the service was better. read more
