Frankie's Village Restaurant was one of those random stops that just worked out. Middle of nowhere, long road trip, and then you walk into this place and it's exactly what you needed. Feels like a classic American diner, the kind you don't really see much anymore. People laughing, talking, just enjoying their time. The waitress was really nice and friendly, made everything feel easy. I ordered the 2 eggs with links, hashbrowns, and toast. Eggs came out perfect, over easy, with that golden yolk ready to run the second you cut into it. First bite with the yolk spilling over everything... exactly how I like it. The links had a nice snap, good flavor, and the hashbrowns were crispy on the outside, soft inside. Simple meal, but done right. Everything tasted fresh and hot. The whole experience just felt different in a good way. One of those spots you're glad you found. read more

Had breakfast here and it was great! The prices are super reasonable and the food was fresh and tasty. The coffee was very good and was always topped off promptly! The server was very friendly and welcoming. There were several local men who obviously come here regularly and eat together, which is always nice to run across. I appreciated the cute decor, even the air vents on the ceiling are painted like sunflowers. Definitely would recommend. read more

This is a great spot right around the corner from the Little League Fields in Roselawn Indiana. We rolled in here today after playing & winning a Indiana State Juniors softball tourney game in the rain! Great place with really good food and service! Coffee was really good and strong. We took over the place for a late lunch on Friday afternoon. Went really well! read more

It's got the same local folk in it every morning and it's got mediocre coffee with mediocre food and served with a hearty serving of local smiles. A local place for a local time. Driving home from Chicago to New Jersey I learned that there were some rare Phalarope (birds) in Indiana. Getting an early start I detoured from the direct route to see them. I passed by Frankie's on the way out. It looked just home town enough that I might get some good cooking. I was right. Started of with a small order of biscuits and gravy on the recommendation of the waitress. Minutes later I had two fluffy biscuits slathered in a slightly salty sausage gravy. There was the slightest tinge of heat in the sauce as well. Next to the plate of biscuits was a small, single slice of cantaloupe. Im not a biscuits and gravy master so not sure if this is how they are always served, but the cantaloupe cut the brine of the gravy leaving my mouth satisfied. Very good! Needing a bit more I ordered the Country fried steak and eggs. Eggs where good as was the biscuit. The country fried steak seemed a bit like a battered fried hamburger. It was ok but didn't really rock me. Overall the food a Frankie's is good. However, one the day I visited my plate was being shared with some very aggressive flies. That might be typical in farm country. I'm used to sharing my plate with flies when camping, but prefer to not do so when in a restaurant. Service was adequate. When asked what was their best dish I received the dreaded everything is good. Experience tells me when everything is good it all falls into the fair Catagory. Get the biscuits and gravy here, but make sure the flies aren't there that day. I washed it down with a nice hot cup of coffee that was unpretentious, thank god, and good. There's lots of places to get high end coffees and far to few to get a good ol' cup of joe. read more

In town to visit family and stopped in. Good food and really nice people.Will Definitely go back when in town again.

Decent place for breakfast. Havent been here in at least 5 yrs or more. Back then the turn off was the smoke. I live in Illinois and Indiana at the time , still allowed smoking in public places so I stopped going there. These days it fine, the place doesn't smell like smoke. The food is very good! Had a medium order of biscuits & gravy ( they have 3 sizes of orders, dependent on ur hunger) a side of bacon and coffee. Set me back $8. Decently priced.There were some locals in there on a monday morning at 9am so thats an indicator thats its a good place. Interior decorations haven't changed since I was there last. Service was good. They had some sausage chunks in the gravy so that was a good thing. Service was friendly and all things considered I will be returning . This place is worthy of a breakfast stop. Not sure about lunch. read more

Nice village restaurant here... they offer Traditional American fair at a great price! The waitress was busy but kept us attended to and was quite nice. This is a rural area~ so don't expect a high-end, fashionable place. They are very down-to-earth and simple in their fare and also in their decorating. Great for an after church brunch! read more

Visited this past week and the food was fairly decent diner food. It was clean and our server Lori was working hard to keep everything clean and her customers taken care of. Nothing fancy on the inside but decent for the price and great service. I would go back. read more

Side of the road diner. Tacky interior, with tables close to each other, no real decor other then a miss mosh of framed old pictures. Everyone inside seemed to know each other and they talked over each other across the tables. Friendly atmosphere. Speedy service. Low prices. Only $3.95 for grilled ham and cheese, fries not included. Started with fried mushrooms thay come with ranch on the side. Mushrooms are plain you will need to at least add salt to give them flavor. Ranch is nothing special, probably bottled generic brand. My diet drink was served in a cup that had more chips then I cared to count. Table was wobbly too. My Reubens was barely edible. Dried out meat (2 slices) and dried out bread. The extra fries I ordered are frozen crinkle cuts with no seasoning. Hubby had Monte Cristo and he believed it was bought frozen and micro waved. Makes sense as we could hear the micro beeping from where we sat. The coleslaw that came with was okay and he didn't even finish it which is unusual for him. Bill was $23.49 We gave her $30 and only got $1.51 back. Keep in mind we left $5 tip on table. Just drive by... not worth stopping in. Too expensive for crappy food. read more
