Days Inn by Wyndham Royston - 1 King Bed Hot Tub Room

The front desk staff was also the owners - efficient at their job. Breakfast was your typical Days Inn complimentary bfast. Not my taste but the room and foods looked clean and there were a few people partaking of the bfast.

I booked our room a few weeks ago making sure to let them know we are a handicapped family and would be bringing our two service dogs and our cat. I called the night before we left to ask if there were any suite rooms available on the bottom floor and was told there were. The gentleman I spoke to moved our reservation. Upon arrival at about 6pm, there was about a 10 minute wait as they figured out who needed to check us in. A young man, bare foot and soft spoken, checked me in. Multiple times I had to tell him that I couldn't hear him. I presumed that they got what they needed from my online reservation and the discussion we had. The young man ran my card and off we went. Our weekend was just fine in the room. The AC/heat worked great, hot water was great, TV options were solid, etc. Wifi could use some help, but we didn't depend on it so it wasn't a big deal. There aren't many places that aren't pizza that deliver to the area, either, but we brought our own food so that wasn't a deal changer for us either. The morning we were due to leave, my husband and I started loading things up in our truck and walking our dogs. The staff about lost their minds. Finally, the manager came out and started demanding that we come to the office and pay the pet fee immediately. We told them we'd check in with the office as we were leaving and returned our key cards to discuss this concern. I presumed at that time that there was an oversight since I had already provided information about our pets to the office. Once we were fully loaded up and ready to leave, we got into our truck and headed toward the office. The manager ran out into the parking lot and attempted to keep us from moving our truck even though we were telling him that we were going directly to the office. I don't know what these folks have experienced, but it's probably best to get the police involved instead of putting yourself at risk of being run over by a patron. One of these days, this dude is liable to get hurt. In any case, we explained we were headed to the office they just needed to calm down. Upon returning the key cards, we explained that we had already mentioned the pets and assumed the young man that checked us in had charged us already. Apparently not. I'm not sure how others can prepare for this, but I'm not sure I'd say this location is "pet friendly". As I explained to the manager, I understand that he's had some past problems with patrons but that is not us and we were forthcoming when we set our reservation that we would be coming with animals. We will probably try a different location next time we're in town. Neither of us are comfortable with being chased through a parking lot, especially when we've done nothing wrong, and there's already a card on file that could just be charged if there was an issue. No need to block our truck from leaving over $66.

A coworker suggested I stay at another hotel about an hour away, based on his stays in the past. The lady who checked me in was nice and friendly. My room looked nice at first glance. The underside of the toilet seat and its base were not clean. Mildew in the shower and along the bathroom floor. It was late and the hotel was full so I wasn't offered options of another room. There was no hot water in the shower the next morning. I waited about 20 minutes and still no hot water. Waited some more but had to endure a really cold shower on a very cold day. I mentioned the lack of hot water to the front desk clerk who said there is only one hot water heater and it always runs out when the hotel is full. I suggested the hotel upgrade the current equipment or get an additional one. The clerk just shrugged her shoulders as if it would never happen. Since I was running late, I picked up the grab & go breakfast bag. Another big disappointment as the banana was brown and the bagel was past its expiration date. Another fail! Next time I will listen to my coworker and stay in another town. I suggest avoiding this hotel until they get their hot water situation fixed.

We reserved one of the king's and the room was huge! We almost didn't leave. Short and non-windy road from Greenville SC and so worth it. John and I took a weekend getaway for a leisurely weekend to Bridge Creek Inn. There we enjoyed the mountain views while exploring the wildlife, activities, and downtown shopping. Bridge Creek Inn is touted as Clayton's Living Room, a community gathering spot. You can catch a game or enjoy a cocktail from the Vandiver, their on-site upscale tavern. And being in the middle of downtown, it's THE place to stay and explore everything that downtown Clayton, GA has to offer. The moment you walk into the lobby "living room," the hotel greets you with natural wood beauty, soft wood furniture, darker wood ceiling, and plush and cozy seating areas that dot the lobby. It's calming from the second you enter. Gather by the fire, grab a quick coffee or snack at their cafe, and people watch from their cozy lounge area. It's the place to relax and unwind. Upstairs, our room was the spacious King Suite with 180 views of the mountains and downtown! Simple and clean, yet modern and new, it was a beautiful room. The bathroom was light and bright, large shower, and pristine vanity. Heading around the corner is a cozy seating area with leather chairs made for a fun reading nook. The bed area drew your eye with a dark blue accent wall, mountain decor, and a comfy, large, king bed. Plus, we could look at the Mountain View all day. As we mentioned, they have an upscale tavern restaurant on site, The Vandiver, a main street tavern. Only open for 5 days when we visited, the space has some serious casual steakhouse vibes. Think exposed wood beams and circular booths. We're impressed with the delectable shared plates, sensational dishes, and elevated cocktails! Like the Venison Wellington that's super tender and juicy deer, cooked perfectly without a hint of game. The meat is surrounded by a perfect pastry that's crunchy on the outside, yet flaky and gloating in a moat of rich and deep jus around it.
