I know this is very cliché, but I really never write reviews however, I had such a good experience here I couldn't help it. First of all, there are not a lot of bicycle shops around the area I live so when I found Frank's I was happy he wasn't too far. My first experience here was about 2 months ago when I need to get an inner tube for my son's bike. We brought it in and he fixed it immediately and also made some other minor adjustments at no charge. I immediately felt very comfortable with the owner Frank and was grateful for his help. A week ago I decided to return to Franks. My two daughters have out grown the "little kid" bikes and were wanting to up grade. I took them into Franks and they loved it. Franks has a very good selection of some quality bikes. Each of them found a bike they liked. We ended up purchasing two bikes and he even threw in some extra stuff which really made my girls happy since they were buying the bikes with their own money. In the end the service was great, the quality of the bike is very good, and I would definitely recommend going there for any of your bike needs. I received a used mountain bike from a client. It was in pretty good shape, but so wanted to make sure, so I brought it in to Frank's for a tune-up. Service was quick and courteous. I left the bike and they called me to pick it up a couple of hours later. For $50 it seemed like decent deal, but also a missed opportunity. As a mountain bike newby, I was hoping for some advice, maybe a little adjustment of the bike to fit my height and leg length, etc. Some tips on what gear to buy...like a lock, a carrier bag, a better seat. None of that was offered or suggested. Maybe next time I'll look for more of a specialty shop. read more

Came to get my bike flat tire fixed. The guy was very kind and assisted me with brining in my bike. I felt I was in and out in a reasonable time. He took his time inspecting everything. He made sure nothing was wrong with my tire (I was suspecting I needed replaced) and that it was only the inner tubing. He even helped me fix my lights in the front and back of my bike and repositioned them in a better spots. I truly appreciate it. read more

Needed to get my Walmart mountain bike tuned up. He was open on a Sunday nontheless. Nothing crazy, and I'm a casual bike rider so I couldn't tell you brands, or gear, etc. I rode in and he was friendly and said he could get it done within a couple hours. He charged me $50 and like he stated it was ready in about 2 hours. Worked tip top. He also explained to me it's a decent bike, I told him I don't plan to ride any mountain marathons on it, he chuckled. He explained that Walmart tends to paint the wheel rims which may effect the braking, which I wasn't aware of. I definitely plan on going to his shop for my biking needs. So this past Sunday me and my wife decided go get back into the bike scene after a long time away from it so we went and bought a used bike for myself and we were gonna go to franks and by my wife a bike and when we went online he was closed at 3pm (on Sunday it's totally understandable) We went to a few shops locally and all the other shops were very low on inventory. So we decide to go home. We made our way past franks at about 5pm (supposed to close at 3) and he was open! I was stoked. We stopped by and frank was doing his thing working on bikes. We asked him why he was still open and he said "well there's a lot of work with Christmas" this told me frank putting his customers first. Thanks Frank!!! Franks shop being completely stocked with new bikes we were able to find my wife the perfect bike for a great price. We were satisfied. We also bought some parts for my used Bmx bike that I picked up and again with plenty of inventory I was able to get everything I needed. I did need my rear rim fixed and I told frank I'd bring the bike In the following day. The next day I brought in my Bmx bike for a tune-up With it being the holidays I didn't want him to stay late and fix it so I told him I'd be back after the new year and left him my number. Today (the day after Christmas) he called me to let me know my bike was done. When I came in today to pick up my bike. Frank went above and beyond and fixed up my bike almost like new. He had some old parts laying around (way better then what I had) and he went ahead and put them on my bike free of charge. When I asked him how much ....he said merry Christmas. Didn't even charge me for the original tuneup I asked for. I'm so glad I bought my wife's bike here and I'm glad I went to him for a tune up. Frank you are the man!! I'm usually not one who goes out of my way to to leave reviews all that often but do leave them from time to time and this is one of those times I couldn't hold back... I had bought a bike for my son and I and also a bike rack to haul them away in the car we were in and spent over $1400 right then and I felt I had a great experience with Franks Bike Shop and don't get me wrong Frank is a really good guy and all and hate to leave a review like this to a really cool guy and originally walked away happy as can be until I just noticed the very exact bike I purchased at Franks for close to $900 online at Dans Comp and about fell out of my seat.... The Sunday Blueprint I got my son was the same cost at $389 but why was the GT Pro Series thats shown in the pictures almost $300 less?? I get that prices slightly differ from shop to shop or website to website and all but WOW I never expected to stumble across it for that much difference! I know Frank did nothing wrong and I never had to buy the bike without shopping around first but I figured it would be roughly that price everywhere give or take a few bucks but not a few hundred!! I can't help but wonder why the one was the same cost as your shop but the other be so dramatically different?? I shop online a lot and never have I seen ANY product that I am shopping for with a price difference like that one, EVER!! I feel like a complete fool for going thru with that sale and can't say that I will not look everywhere else first next time... That's just a ridiculous amount to make off of one bicycle and then see afterwards and kick myself in the ass. That honestly only happens to me when I see something that Costco started selling and even then its only been about a $100 bucks cheaper at most. All I can say with my review to anyone who reads this is to be smart and look around before you just jump at it like I did. I wish I had. Came to Franks to purchase a bike for my 8 year old daughter. He was busy with other customers, but he made sure to know our presence was acknowledged. His assistant came over and helped us find a bike for my daughter. Before you know it, i was buying another bike for my older daughter. The prices were a bit more expensive that Target or Walmart, but the quality of the bikes was much better. The look of the bike is awesome, makes me wish i had it when i was 8. I came in here today to just look around and probably buy some stickers & the dude here came off as cool. I bought some demolition pegs for $25 buck and give him a $100 bill... he gives me $72 dollars & I had to think about it for a second.. I thought he gave me the wrong change so I said to him "how much did the pegs cost?" Hes says "$25 and then some" I didn't get a receipt or anything so what the fuck? First time customer, new to the area. Frank took great care of me. Installed a child seat on my mountain bike and made us feel very welcome!

First off, I fully understand that if a customer that is being waited on, who arrived before me, means I have to wait my turn. I have no problem with that. This was the case when I visited this shop. So I patiently waited my turn, while watching another customer being waited on. While waiting and listening to their conversation for about 10 min, it sounded more like a social visit. The previous customer had his needs clearly satisfied and now the owner and customer were swapping stories. I left at this point. There are other bike shops in town. I would give Frank's Bicycles 5 stars as great place to hang out and BS with owner, but if you want to actually buy something, go someplace else. read more

So much for #SmallBusinessSaturday... Headed to "Frank's Bicycles" (La Mirada location) to check out a bike I found on bikeexchange.com which said would be in-stock at this store. I headed over there today and got there a little before 4pm and the store was closed. Their Yelp listing + Google business listing shows their store hours for today were 11am-5pm. A sign on their door (at the La Mirada location) showed their business hours for today were from 11am-6pm. That same sign also had an address for this (second) location in Whittier, and this location's business hours for today were 11am-5pm. Since the two locations were only 7 minutes away from each other (and figured that if the bike itself wasn't available at the Whittier store, I could at least inquire about it in person + check out other bikes from their inventory), so I headed over to this location and got here at 4:08pm only to find out that THIS STORE was ALSO CLOSED. I'm sure I'll be able to find this same bike elsewhere online, but it just sucks knowing that I made a trip to both locations during supposed business hours and neither of them were open. read more
