Went to Franks Diner for breakfast with my son and wife this morning. We had the Ham steak and eggs and My wife had the patty Melt. The service was quick friendly and reoccurring. The ambiance is a 1906 train car. Prices have gone up a little and the menu is very different from other restaurants as they offer things like elk and boar. One of the best breakfast spots in Spokane. Fried green tomatoes are outstanding. Coffee is fresh and tasty. Portions are huge, but you can order smaller/cheaper portions. I had the huckleberry oatmeal and ate it for two breakfasts in a row because the serving was so generous. My husband had the elk sausage and really enjoyed it (I didn't like it...but keep in mind that I ordered oatmeal!) The 5-year-old had waffles...which were fluffy and came with lots of whipped cream! This is so cute!! We were met by lovely hosts and severs and only waited 10min for a booth! I asked if the Hollandaise was homemade and was promptly sent out a bowl of Hollandaise for me to try. It was okay but not great so I ordered the Boar, Bacon, and Eggs. John ordered biscuits and gravy and Mary scrambled eggs and cremated or beyond crispy hash browns. Passing this one morning in Mead, WA (just N. of Spokane), and knew it was going to be perfect for breakfast. It did not disappoint! What a fun spot - decked out in a rail car. Wonderful people. I ordered Frank's Classic Eggs Benedict. One of the best I've had. And even though that filled me up, their sign outside kept flashing that their Crispy Deviled Eggs were available. I figured this must be pretty special news, since even the menu pointed out, "when available." So I snagged an order. I wasn't exactly sure what to expect. Unfortunately these might be best left to the locals. I really wanted to like them, especially since I love deviled eggs, but I think I prefer mine not deep-fried. Franks tends to be busy on the weekend I suggest going early. They have a nice gazebo you can wait in outside and a very small both to wait in inside. The food was great. Hash browns were nice and crispy and the biscuits tasted homemade. I suggest the staff clean their menus though because they were all sticky. I also like bigger chunks of Sausage in my gravy. The north location is in a better area and the train car is a fun, warm atmosphere. read more

Franks Diner was right across the street from the North Spokane RV Park that we stayed at. It looks like a 1940-50 streetcar Diner. Don't let the outside fool you because they serve up some great breakfast. Came in about 9:30 on Monday July 3rd. Place was already full. About a 20-30 minute wait, so we walked next door to Starbucks for a coffee and waited for Frank's to text us when we were up. Got there, and they had 2 seats at the counter facing the grill. Absolutely the best seats in the house. They only had 2 cooks, but they were CRANKING out the food. Really enjoyed watching these 2 cooks working in sync and making sure that the Hash Browns and Pancakes were lined up and were all getting cooked on 1 grill. The other grill was a masterpiece. This cook, Moki, was moving quick and gracefully. Cracking eggs with one hand and working the grill simultaneously with the other. We could see him grilling the omelet ingredients while he was preparing the eggs for the omelet fold. It was thing of beauty watching these 2 work. And the staff was sliding back and forth grabbing plates and topping off the ready orders. REALLY fun to watch. Wife got Bacon, Eggs and Hash Browns, which were all done to perfection. She even asked for crispy Hash Browns and there were perfect. The Bacon was cooked perfectly and the Eggs we cooked just right. I opted for the simple Biscuits and Gravy (3 Biscuits). The were not exactly like Grandma's, but still really good. I could only finish 2 of the split biscuits. Overall, the food was one of the top 10 I've had and I even tipped the cooks a few bucks for the show. Well worth the price to watch. Came back a few days later and got some of the Crispy Deep Fried Deviled Eggs and the wife got Chicken Fried Steak. Again, a great meal and worth the price. Check them out. Prices were good, ambiance is pretty neat, and the food is great. 5 stars all the way. ONO GRINDS MOKI !!!! read more

Spokane doesn't have that many good breakfast spots but this is definitely the top 5. The ingredients are all fresh you can sit at the bar area and watch them make your food on the flat grill step by step just like the old days. The charm inside is great, feels nostalgic. The oatmeal bowl is huuge and very hot! Takes about 10 minutes to cool down but worth it if you don't want to eat meat. The only downsides would be that it's a little bit cramped inside and the heater outside is busted so if theres a long line get your name in early and wait in your car. It's close across from starbucks and retro donuts so ya you cant beat that! Anyways will definitely be coming here often read more

This was a very nice breakfast for my wife and I on a Sunday morning. After getting ourselves on the list we waited about 35 minutes to get a seat, which just about what they predicted. The outside waiting area has coffee available and is covered to keep the weather off of you. It is also heated during the cooler times of year. After being seated we were attended to right away with menus, water, and waitstaff bringing coffee as needed. Our order was taken quickly and the food was delivered promptly. My wife had the Orange Cranberry French Toast and it was awesome. The bread had the feel of a rustic homemade style and the taste was outstanding. Rich, but not overly sweet. I had the Works Omelette and I added gravy to the top. I was also fantastic with the egg feeling fluffy and loaded with ingredients. I also had the biscuit as my bread side order and it was as close to homemade as you can get. Very good quality meal at a diner. This meal and a couple coffees came in around $40 so be ready for that. Really one of the best quality breakfasts we've had though. We'd definitely go back when the budget allows. read more
