This is a cute local spot The food and service was good but the dining area off from the bar is small. It was so loud, we ate quickly so we could leave. Not sure how to remedy such a situation. I've lived within a 1/2 mile of this place since it opened. Under previous ownership, the food wasn't anything special, the service was mediocre, hours were strange, but the building itself is pretty cool and historic. Fast forward to now, I decided to give them another chance with the new ownership, and it has improved vastly. I got the salmon and risotto, which is far more upscale than I was expecting to see on their updated menu. The drinks were great. Moxie falls fizz is quite honestly one of my favorite adult beverages. The service was great, she joked around with us. The owner greeted us at the door and thanked us when we left. In my eyes this restaurant has done a complete 180, and I will start coming here more often! Overall I'd give my most recent experience a 10/10. Great job read more

In the area Christmas shopping and decided to stop in for a beer and some apps but went for full on food. Really cool vibe with a great lunch menu. Came here for something different instead of our local pub. bright atmosphere and a cool bar that has an antique backdrop .. I like that is was not loud too. was told the building used to be a soda shop back in the day. Had a margarita which was good , a little on the weak side but maybe ask for a double? TLDR - Good but a bit underwhelming. Huge potential here, but needs a little work (sorry to say). - - - - Frank's is the kinda place you come into thinking you have found a bit of a hidden gem, and maybe if you come here more for libations than food, perhaps that is what you will get...but food-wise, maybe we got our hopes up too high because the food fell a little short. For starters we got the steak and cheese egg rolls (they were good, a little shy of great)...fine starter - would recommend considering. We also got (and were really excited to try) the Sheperd's pie croquettes. We loved both things...so combined they should have been amazing...and they were good, but before we dipped them in the gravy they were a little underwhelming. Overall, with the gravy they were a solid 4.5/5 so no complaints but I do feel like Frank's is missing an opportunity here - a slight tweak and these could be a signature app for this place! For mains we got the Worumbo Burger (very solid, just again missing a little something)...I do feel like the bread was maybe a little too bready...I guess I noticed that more with our 2nd main, the Buffalo Chicken sandwich which we got sans Buffalo. Essentially it was just a fried chicken sandwich and it was decent, but it was pretty skimpy and and pounded very flat on top of that-in the end you end up with a few ounces of chicken... I feel like whether it's because of these hard times of inflation or just the kitchen manager needing a little more care on quality control this place could be much busier/a destination spot! Based on the menu, I thought they were going for a gastropub vibe-but it's more basic. I talked to some friends who are local (Brunswick now but life-long Mainers) and they agreed with our take-they just came once and it was underwhelming and they didn't return. This makes me sad, because it could easily be so much more. I will add service was great. The aesthetic of the place was solid. Overall a solid meal that was just lacking a little bit here and there to earn a 5 star. I may come back eventually but we def. won't rush back because while everywhere is fairly expensive these days, there are a lot of places where it least you will leave eager to come back ASAP! read more

I'm not sure how this place has such high ratings, maybe we came in on an off night. We walked in and everyone at the bar stopped to stare. We were so uncomfortable we froze then the bartender told us to sit wherever we'd like. Before we could sit the server told us if we sat at that table she would move us for another party. So we moved to another table. We were so shocked we just sat down. Everyone in the restaurant was looking at us during the entire meal. The server took our order and got everything (but the Alfredo) wrong. Wrong sides. Wrong food. Empty drinks. We ordered loaded fries and she brought plain fries. When we asked her for the food we ordered she brought out old cold cheese in a cup and told us to top our own fries. She wanted us to build a bear our own food. She promised to bring out bacon that never came. The burgers were the worst we've ever had. The wings were good and the Kraft Mac and cheese was fine. If you're in the market for a burger in this town, just drive to McDonalds. Horrific service. Terrible food. Weird and rude ambiance. Yikes! At times the restaurant can be very busy but even the then I never feel overlooked or ignored. Their sweet and spicy Thai wings are some the best wings I've had anywhere. Hubby and I are trying to support the locals as much as possible and found this place on the recommendation of a cashier at a supermarket. Asking for a good burger in town, immediate answer was Frank's. How about steak, again Frank's (with the tip that the sirloin tips would ruin your taste buds for any other)...spot on, they were delicious. How about wings? Just go to Frank's she said with a smile. We did and the food was amazing. I am a connoisseur of mashed potatoes. I am very particular and I know how they should be if done correctly...not out of a box and like the person making them actually cared. These are those mashed. I was a little disappointed they didn't have garlic mashed...the guy taking our order (who turned out to be the manager/owner) suggested the homemade garlic parmesan dipping sauce to pour over. OMG! Best suggestion ever. Creamy garlic and parmesan on hot ,slightly chunky mashed (they know how to use salt/pepper/butter in those bad boys!) Yeah, heaven on a plate. The chicken tenders and wings are good size and crispy as they should be. The fries are skin on and golden. We have since been back multiple times and the burgers are better than most restaurants that just serve burgers as a staple. Come in for the great food and nice beer and wine selection, watch a game, or just relax with some homemade chocolate mousse or a slice of cheesecake. Frank's is such a great place - it's the Cheers! of Lisbon Falls! Always a friendly greeting and the food is amazing. Good drink choices - try something new! They often have a cocktail I've never had and I've never been disappointed. I have memories of the space from back when Frank (of Moxie Store fame) still ran the place with his little museum and shop, and I'm so glad it's been preserved in many ways so the "flavor" of Frank lives on in both name and atmosphere. I came in here with two of my friends. It took quite a while for the bartender to wait on us. The drinks were OK, though the bartender didn't seem to want to wait on us. The atmosphere was very nice and all the old pictures on the bar were a great touch. The food was very little to desire. Their chicken bruschetta had so much vinegar on it that that's all you could taste. The vegetables were freezing cold. The pasta on the side was a marinara which was absolutely disgusting. The Cajun chicken had no spice whatsoever. There was nothing that was fabulous about any of the food. The hamburgers had pork in them so you could not get them to order. I believe that if somebody adjusted their menu it would be a great atmosphere to be. I would not go back in for food, unless it changed. read more

What a great first impression. I wasn't sure what I'd be walking into for an opening night but I was nothing but impressed. Even though they seemed very busy, our server Brandi was awesome she kept our drinks filled and was very friendly. I was able to meet one of the owners, Dennis, who was very friendly and seemed to have a passion for Lisbon and the history of the building. We ordered drinks to start followed by wings and burgers. The wings were very good and the burger was delicious, I wasn't sure how I felt about lemon aioli with a Moxie onion jam but the flavors were great and the burger was seasoned perfectly. I'm looking forward to making this a normal hangout and I'm happy to have a place like this close to home. read more

I don't write reviews often at all and I really love frank's, but last night I was quite upset with the food I received. I ordered the Cajun chicken BLT and it was the first time ordering this sandwich. We got take out so I was unable to say anything to them right away. When I opened the box, I immediately noticed the bacon slices were a good half inch think and like chewing on a chunk of fat. Then when I got into the sandwich it tasted great but the grilled chicken wasn't any thicker than a slice of deli meat. It tasted great, but left me feeling a little unsatisfied with the quantity. Hopefully if I get the sandwich again there is actually a good piece of chicken so I don't end up hungry! read more

We went last Saturday at 4pm, I'm pretty sure we were the only people dining at the time, maybe one other person at the bar when we came in. This should have been the first sign. We are fairly new to the area and this place was very highly rated and recommended. The first thing we noticed was the menu selection is pretty small, not the end of the world. I ordered a burger, requested it Medium-rare, I was told "we cook our burgers to 160* because they contain pork." OK, that's fine. My partner got a brisket sandwich. The meals came out in a timely manner. My burger was cooked rare, very rare. It was very greasy. The Brisket sandwich was bland and needed the sauce that accompanied it to be edible. Fries are basic frozen fries, nothing too special. On a plus side, they did have decent vinegar for them. Our drinks were not refilled until we were almost done our meals, they had been empty from almost the beginning of our meals. After we finished and I cleared our table, with dishes, trash, and debit cards sitting on the end of the table, it took 30 minutes to get our check. For the price of the meals, the limited menu, and the quality of the food we will not be coming back. read more

As someone who lives in Lisbon I am so excited to have a place like Frank's! I had the same waitress both times I came and she was very attentive and friendly. The owner is always there and he makes sure his customers are happy. The first time I went it was just for drinks- I tried their house margarita but it was just a little too salty for me so this time I stuck to beer. The prices are good and they have a decent enough selection. For an app we had the onion rings and they were great- not soggy or greasy and I enjoy thick cut rings like that. I wasn't starving, so for my entree I ordered the nachos with no olives and added chicken. It was a huge portion and it came with a house made pico that was really flavorful and fresh. My boyfriend ordered the Cajun chicken BLT and loved it. I snagged a few fries from him and they were really good too. It's a great little place, you can see some of Lisbon's history on the walls and I'm glad the locals have a place to go and hangout now. There are people of all ages, some to dine and some to drink. This was our first time coming to Frank's after drooling at the pictures of their food online for so long. It was well worth the trip. Everything appears to be scratch made, and our food was packed with flavor. We are big buffalo chicken fans, and boy did Frank's deliver. My wife had a very large buffalo chicken salad. I had the buffalo tenders with red skinned mashed potatoes. The perfect amount of heat layered on crunchy and juicy chicken tenders. Save room for dessert because the chocolate mousse was fantastic. We've been twice to Frank's and this place is overall a solid dining experience! Service is GREAT! All the servers have been prompt, polite, and friendly. They have a great selection of tap and bottled/canned beer as well as full bar. Chicken tender app is fantastic, crunchy, and recommend their Caribbean jerk sauce. I've had the brisket sandwich with onion rings as well as the steak tip dinner. My husband usually orders one of their burgers. Everything we have eaten has been super tasty. I love a good brisket so naturally I was very excited to try out the brisket sandwich only to be TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED. It was totally lacking in flavor, watery and stringy - like it had been sitting in water bath for days. I got the Augustine Bacon Burger with no adjustments and it was honestly delicious. The moxie-onion-jam was interesting but not overpowering. A note for those rare-meat only folks: these are mixed beef/pork burgers and Frank's is required to cook them to temp (160). It's clearly marked on the menu but it's worth a mention for pre-planning. My wife got fettuccine alfredo and her take was "better than some Italian restaurants I've eaten at." The menu has a good mix of standard fare and ritzier options.
