Today is Monday and they usually have a deal which is on the sign outside of their business which says Mondays and Thursdays 2 plane pies with a liter Coke for $25. I went in and placed my order, two large pepperoni pies. I come back inside 10 minutes later, and my pies were finished. I asked the guy behind the counter who made the pies. Do I get a soda? He said no I asked him about the sign outside. He said it says two plain pies. "I don't know why you're so upset" he says. I said I'm not upset but I paid $35 for two pepperoni pies and I get no soda? He said for the price that I paid here, anywhere else would be more so I should be happy. Okay No problem. Last time I will ever come here and the pies are even even that good.

First time back here in years!

The pros of Frank's Pizza include....Plenty of parking, lots of seating inside, reasonable prices. The cons....Pizza was average at best. I had a slice of sausage which was a bit dried out. Maybe a different slice would have been a better choice, maybe not. There are plenty of different type pies to choose from. There are so many amazing pizzerias in northern NJ, this one didn't quite cut it for me.

Update: August 2021.... We had dinner here twice this week and take out once. This place is amazing -everything we've ordered has been absolutely delicious. You must try Franks in Roseland on Eisenhower parkway. Great pizza, excellent dinners and fabulous garlic bread too. They are always friendly and very appreciative of your business. And their prices are very reasonable!

I stumbled upon this little jem by pure accent and needles to say I am happy that I did. The pizza quality is very good, not too thin or thick. The toppings were flavorful and plenty. I also shared a garlic not which wasn't pictured, it had tons of garlic and was lovely.

Not worth $8.51, even if it were the last panini on earth.

I hate writing bad reviews, but I feel like I have to for this place. I've been coming here for a few months every now and then. The pizza is always okay, and the people who work there seem nice enough. They don't post their drink prices on the fridge, and they have signs saying "no free refills". It does scream cheap, especially if you know that the cost of soda syrup is a matter of pennies. Today I decided to try a panini special, which is "eggplant, spinach, roasted red pepper, and mozzarella." Sounds good, right? Nope. Two thin, pre-frozen fried eggplant patties, some frozen spinach, and a sprinkle of red pepper and cheese. I paid $8.51 for this, and the value is honestly just not there at all. So much for a healthy choice at lunch. (My bad for not asking if the eggplant was grilled or not.) If you want a great vegetable Panini, try Brookside Diner instead. $10 gets you piles of fresh grilled eggplant, red pepper, zucchini, mushrooms, and mozzarella, and comes with soup and salad or fries.

Pizza with eggplant and fresh mozzarella!! Yummy!!

Missed NJ Pizza. Frank's Pizza is definitely yummy. This was my second time there. I would have rather had fresh tomatoes instead of the red peppers. :). Last time I had fresh mozzarella, tomato and basil that was really yummy too.

No complaints there. Service was... philosophical. The place was empty, yet it took a while to be noticed. The staff seemed deeply committed to important discussions with friends. Once I finally received my pizza, I stood by the door, hanging like a lonely pepperoni, waiting for someone to remember I existed. Apparently there's another register somewhere in the back. So I took a small pilgrimage through the restaurant, paid, and escaped with my dignity and my slice. They do have a seating area to the left. I didn't explore it. At that point, my relationship with the establishment had run its course. Would I go back? If I'm starving and the parking lot calls to me again... nah...

I ordered a large plain pie around 8:45 p.m. and picked it up at 9. When I got home, it was obviously an old pizza that had been reheated! It was cold, hard, stale, and not fresh at all. I called the store to let them know, but instead of apologizing or offering to make it right, the person on the phone argued with me and insisted it was freshly made. It clearly wasn't. The lack of accountability and customer service was disappointing. They close at 9:30, and if they didn't want to make a fresh pizza that late, they should've just said so because I would have gladly taken my business elsewhere. After this experience, I won't be coming back.

***3 1/2 stars***…read more Maybe it lost something in transit or I didn't get the right pie, but I wasn't blown away by this place. I've had Tony D's on my list for a while, knowing it had a solid reputation amongst the North Jersey Italians (and what better demo to have it from?). Yesterday was a perfect opportunity to order/grab some pizza and bring it over to my top-tier chum in nearby Montclair for lunch. I didn't do a ton of recon so maybe there was a more obvious/modern method to ordering, but from what I could tell, this place was pretty old school and I just picked up the phone and called over - honestly can't remember the last time I did that, but it brought a nice whiff of nostalgia for me after years of ordering on apps. Didn't realize that Tony D's is literally right around the corner from my BFF Cloverleaf, so the location is pretty convenient if you're in the area. The parking in Caldwell can be pretty annoying, and even though I'm sure I could have rolled the dice I paid a little less than a dollar to park up the street further into a residential neighborhood. Given that Tony D's is exclusively delivery/pickup joint, I think they should pay for the spots right in front as a courtesy to their customers coming in and out; maybe they do and I missed it but if not... Anyway. The guy behind the counter was VERY nice/friendly, and even though I was a few minutes early based on the estimated ETA off my phone call, the pizza literally had just come out of the oven and was ready to rock. From that vantage point, top-notch service. The specific pie that seemed to be their go-to was the Drunken Grandma, which is usually one of my favorites (vodka sauce on pizza should be much more prevalent in my opinion) but I wasn't crazy about the chunks of tomato on it. In hindsight, would have been easy to pick off or even to request that they not be included to begin with, so that would be my recommendation based on this experience. I opted for a square plain pie, especially since I knew that a few young pups would likely be sampling the wares; seemed like an overall safe bet. Optics-wise, I thought it looked very good, and I don't regret going square here. The crust for me was probably the best part, and I made sure to strategically grab all of the corner pieces once we started eating. Nice crisp to it for sure. The overall taste of the pie just wasn't my thing. I wasn't crazy about the sauce (maybe another argument for the vodka sauce, right?) and the cheese was just okay. Tasted to me more like generic by the slice pizza, which isn't my preference. My top-tier chum liked it more than I did, so definitely could just be an issue with palate preference here but this might have suffered from inflated expectations. I'd give them another shot if a similar circumstance presented itself, but I'd go with the pie it's known for - there's a reason the Drunken Grandma is front and center in almost every review. Learn from me.

Delivery would be 45-60 minutes, so I set my timer for 30 so I'd be ready to put the light on in the vestibule for the driver to see. Before I knew it, I got a call that the delivery driver, Joshua, was at the door! It wasn't even 30 minutes! He must have cooked my food on the way over! Joshua was very pleasant and the food was very hot! I ordered a large half sausage pizza with a side of fried mushrooms, which were both delicious. The pie had a nice thick crust, which is how I like it. I never eat the bottom crust, but break off the thick crust and scoop up the toppings. It was perfect! The fried mushrooms were tender with a very crispy & tasty coating. They were a nice size and there were plenty of them...even had some left over. Everything from placing the order with a very sweet lady to my last bite was great! I definitely recommend trying this eatery.
