Live in the area and stopped in with my girlfriend on a Friday around 7pm. We asked if they had table service and the counter guy said, "Sure, have a seat." Place wasn't busy, so far so good. Server comes over, hands us menus, asks if we want drinks. We say yes. He points to the cooler and says, "It's over there, help yourself." Not exactly Ritz-Carlton service, but alright, we rolled with it. A few minutes later he comes back to take the order. My girlfriend orders a slice and a salad. I ask for a chicken francese sandwich. Also asked for a cup of ice for the soda I apparently became responsible for serving myself. A little while later the server returns and says, "We don't have that sandwich on the menu." Fair enough. I told him I knew it wasn't listed, but since they make chicken francese, I figured putting it on bread wasn't exactly a NASA-level engineering project. He disappears behind the counter, comes back looking slightly uncomfortable, and says -- and I swear I'm not making this up -- "He doesn't want to make that now." Not "we can't." Not "we're out of ingredients." Not "the kitchen is slammed." Just... "doesn't want to make that now." At that point I realized I may have accidentally interrupted a very important evening of not making sandwiches. We left the unopened Diet Coke in the cooler where we personally retrieved it from, tossed a couple bucks down for the luxurious two sips of water, and headed to Annabella's -- where, shockingly, they managed to perform the impossible feat of turning chicken francese into a sandwich without causing a kitchen crisis. Now I remember why, despite living a mile away from Tony's, I hadn't been there in years. With so many great local pizzerias and Italian spots nearby that actually seem interested in serving customers, there's really no reason to go back. I stopped in at Tony's for lunch this afternoon and thought this pizzeria was very good. Lots of pies to choose from at lunch which, for me, is important. The servers behind the counter were helpful and friendly. I should really just try the plain or Sicilian slice on my first visit, but they had an interesting looking chicken, bacon, 1000 Island slice that was too good to pass up. Nice thick slice with a good crust. 1000 Island was an alternative to Ranch that I haven't seen before and was tasty. Plenty of street parking (not sure if they have a lot in back). Lots of seating. Ordered 2 pies from here, one cheese and one buffalo chicken. Picked them both up after 25 mins and both pies were still warm enough that we did not need to heat them up. Still had the crunch and that is exactly what I needed after many failed attempts at finding pizza that had the crunch and perfect under carriage and doesn't flop. Restaurant was decently packed which was a good sign and the ambience of the restaurant reminded me of old school Italian pizzerias. Service was quick and the gentleman at the register was friendly, and very nice. I will be back to order from here more often. read more

They don't just have pizza though. When my famz introduced me to their menu, I was overwhelmed with options. The awesome thing is it seems they have everything you could think of. If it's not on the menu, I bet they'd make it for you. I love pizza! This time, however, I opted for a different plate - chicken & eggplant parmeggiano. The flavor was actually pretty good! I loved the crisp of the eggplant and how it was sliced thinly then layered. Our orders were for pick up. When I thought I'd have time to do some work, the food was already ready. That's fast HOT food! Big compliments to that, especially during dinnertime. My famz mentioned they love ordering from this place. I didn't doubt it. Fascinating place. I ended up here after a group outing where the host said "I'm ordering ahead" for a plain pie. That's not me, so I held out to get to Tony's and see what they got. In a word, Mexican. In two words, Latin American. I'm not just talking the hosts here, I'm talking the pizza flavors themselves. They have all your standards, and then they have some fascinating options that are built on Latin American flavors. As you see from my photo, there were slices of chicken fajita out. I grabbed the two with chipotle sauce and left the two with ranch, but trust me, there were a lot more varieties than just that. Anyway, this place is apparently trusted to call ahead and deliver when you arrive, so that's good service. Plenty of room for a party of 8 - we sat immediately upon arrival at 8:00 pm - so not just a takeout place. As far as pizzae: * Mine was delicious, but not cheap - two slices and a drink ran me $12! * Cheese pizza is nice and thin, but some of their slices are definitely thick crusted. I made sure to stay away from those. It may be an option, not sure. * Pepperoni that someone else ordered was super-oily, more than I'm used to with the 'roni. * Someone did order a square slice, very thick crust, and remarked that it felt a lot lighter than he expected. I don't know if that's different than Tony's usual, or what to make of that. All in all, if you are a pizza traditionalist, this place may or may not work for you. I think that unique flavors is a selling point, and the pizza is good enough quality (from an NYC standard) where I would come back for those. If I was local, maybe this would be my joint, but I'm a few towns away and I'm not about to ditch my local place for Tony's. But that's pizza 'round these parts. I popped in to this place tonight after a long train ride home. The waitress served me 3 hard-as-rock slices. They had obviously been sitting around for hours. When I asked her why she didn't just put in a new pie she just shrugged. I guess they have no shame letting a pie sit for hours so they can squeeze out an extra dollar on stale slices. I can always count on Tony's for some solid and reliable pizza. A plain slice is where it's at, but they also have a counter filled with interesting speciality slices. I've tried a chicken and broccoli slice and it was loaded up with chicken and veggies. I recently ordered a pie and it was perfection. Slices feel a little bit smaller than some other pizzerias. Normally after two slices I'm stuffed, but I could have gone for a third. But the sauce is really quality and the pizzas were super cheesy and topping heavy. What more could you want? I also added on a caprese salad. The price was super fair at $6 and the salad came with a huge amount of fresh mutz, roasted red peppers and tomatoes. The menu is huge, and although I've mostly stuck to pizza they have a ton of various entree and sandwich options. For fast and delicious pizza I'll certainly be ordering from Tony's again in the future. read more

Being out of state, I placed an order online through the sliced app. I meant to select delivery, and accidentally placed pickup. Immediately after, my dad called and explained what happened. They said that they could not change the order to delivery, and I would have to cancel the order, then reorder. My card had already been charged, and you cant cancel through slice app. So, I had to pick up the order. For out of towners, the roads around Tony's are confusing. Parking is around back. Since we were in the area, and on the same street, we decided to stop in for icecream at scoop station. While in line, my mom called my phone to say that a person from Tony's pizza called the house asking if I was going to pick up the order. (I noticed my home number was on the app). We called Tony's back to let them know we were next door. Coke products are listed on the app, so i ordered 3 coke 20oz. We arrived about 5 minutes later to the pizza place (which was next door), and no coke products available... only pepsi products. At this point, i was just like "whatever, im too tired." When we got back to our hotel, my calzone was mislabelled, but thankfully, it had correct ingredients in it.... ALONG WITH AIR. See picture. Gets the job done. I tend to be in the area and like to drop in every once in awhile. Pizza is average, but satisfies a craving. They tend to have a nice variety of slices in their display. I recommend their ziti, Sicilian, and plain. Today I tried their tuna melt and it was very good!!! Ate half, saving the other half for later. The food was good. However, it was packaged poorly and made a huge mess for me to clean up. I ordered linguini and spaghetti and got linguini and penne. Got a small piece of chicken parmigiana and a small piece of eggplant rollatini. Meal didn't come with a salad (which most dinners do) and the bread wasn't sliced correctly. Giving them 3.5 rounded down to 3 because I do like their pizza (sauce is quite tasty and is a really enjoyable slice ) but I have a bone to pick. One of my biggest gripes is Italian places that can't make a decent fried calimari. Breaking out the most generic cookie cutter rubbery stuff and asking us to poney up $$as if it were top quality- But in reality Just really generic. I'd expect better from what seems like a decent place. Haven't yet tried their food other than pizza or calamari. Places should just Figure it out or stop selling it already. Never again. Called 6:16 on a Thurs. Order of chicken, mozzarella sticks, sandwich. 15 to 20 mins. I arrived 25 mins later at tonys, two kids and one lone diner. Empty. Gave my name. Not ready. Then 2, 3, 4, 5 people placing orders. I just moved away from the counter to make room. At one point, a wrapped up order was argued over in the kitchen. Hometown Pizza Shop and more My family are long time customers of Tony's Pizza across from the train station in Morris Plains. It has always been OK as our go to pizza source however recently we've ventured out to several other pizzerias even though they are not as close to home. So while Tony's is convenient, where you know there will always be a table waiting for you, there are other options that may be better if you are willing to travel a bit and maybe wait to be seated. Just a few years ago Tony's Pizza transitioned to new ownership and some differences are apparent but other things are the same. The menu seems to have expanded, and there are now daily specials beyond pizza that seem intriguing however on our most recent visit we had a Chef salad and pizza. The salad was OK and large enough for two but could have been fresher. The pizza was also Ok however, even though we asked for extra sauce, but could have used more and had a little too much melted cheese. The garlic topping we asked for was definitely prominent and there was a good amount of meatballs on the pie. The interior of Tony's is bright and clean, and not so noisy that you have to yell to talk to your dining companions. You are welcome to bring a bottle of your favorite wine and the waitress will open it and provide glasses. Tony's s a cozy spot to relax in at the end of a busy work week and there is ample parking, either on the street if you're lucky or in the lot at the back. So it's a stress free outing. We don't head to Tony's as often as we used to mainly because we have broadened our horizons on pizzerias we want to check out, and there are many for sure, along Rt 10 and in Morristown, Denville, Randolph, Florham Park and elsewhere. So I think on our next visit I may return to a pasta entre instead of pizza to see how it compares to what I remember from many years ago. read more

I find it hard to remember the last time that I had a slice of pizza as bad as this. It was loaded with a bland cheese that was too heavy for the flimsy crust to hold. Try as I might, it was impossible to hold the slice without the cheese falling off. I saw the sauce, but caught no taste of it. Just moved to town and decided to try a slice here at Tony's. I can easily say it was one of the worst slices of pizza ive ever had. I threw out half of the plain slice i purchased for $2. The mozzarella they use oozes out loads Orange oil and there is no flavor at all. The flop of the slice is ridiculous with all that heavy coagulated cheese and oil on it! Reminded me of pizza i had in 3rd grade at the cafeteria in elementary or even high school. Whoever is making the sauce and buying the products at this establishment clearly doesn't know what they are doing. I will never be back. So disgustingly gross! read more

Tonys pizza is out of this world good. It's difficult for me to eat pizza anywhere else because my standards are so high. With this being said, I refuse to eat at Tonys anymore because the managers are beyond horrible. No customer service whatsoever. A lot of people claim others are the best pizzerias ever, truth is there is not best pizza ever in the area. Tony's is an above average good overall pizzeria. Solid pizza, solid meals. This is my favorite pizza place in Morris Plains. Last night had 2 slices with their caesar salad. The salad....the portion is HUGE with croutons, plenty of dressing (a rarity in today's world)...I couldn't finish. The pizza - a bit more sauce it could have used and it was a little dry. I thought the waitress service was very good. The waitresses were very nice, smiled a lot and brought the food out right away. Only thing was, the dishes came out one at a time, not all at once. Tony's is a very average NJ-style pizzeria. Very thin, crispy crust, but with little chew and bite. Typical sauce-mostly bland and uninspiring. Cheese is flavorful without being overly greasy. My most recent visit to Tony's I had a plain and a pepperoni-the pepperoni was sparse, too thin (to the point that it excessively curled when reheated) and overall flavorless. The Pizza here is easily the worst I've ever had. Every time I get a pizza here, it comes out like a soup. The cheese is very melted and you can't separate the pieces easily at all. A lot of people are annoyed when they accidentally take the cheese off their slice when getting it out of the box, but your gonna have to live with that here because there's no other way. If you're looking for good pizza in the area just go to Lovey's. It's very close by and has great pizza. Personally, Lovey's is my go to spot. Just go there instead of Tony's. The penne vodka was way overcreamed and the sauce was bland. The meatballs in the spaghetti and meatballs entree lacked any kind of seasoning. The spaghetti sauce tasted tinny. I just tried Tony's for the first time and it did not disappoint! I believe my husband grew up eating here as it is a nearby neighborhood joint, and wanted to support Tony's during this difficult covid season. I really wanted to try the caprese panini, and it is so good I can't wait to have the other half for lunch tomorrow. The tomatoes taste so fresh and flavorful and really add a kick to the panini. Glad it came with fries too! Garlic knots were fresh and soft and went great with the accompanying sauce. My husband also got cheese pizza and chicken wings.
