I've been ordering from here for a few years now, and they're usually pretty good. Unfortunately, my last experience left a bad taste in my mouth -- literally and figuratively. I ordered a large plain pie around 8:45 p.m. and picked it up at 9. When I got home, it was obviously an old pizza that had been reheated! It was cold, hard, stale, and not fresh at all. I called the store to let them know, but instead of apologizing or offering to make it right, the person on the phone argued with me and insisted it was freshly made. It clearly wasn't. The lack of accountability and customer service was disappointing. They close at 9:30, and if they didn't want to make a fresh pizza that late, they should've just said so because I would have gladly taken my business elsewhere. This is truly a local pizza place, we often (weekly) pick up pizza, wings, salads, wraps and soups. But we dined in this weekend which we have in the past but this time I was promoted to write a review. The dining room is cute and cozy, very old school feel but clean. The server was super friendly and prompt and attentive without being overbearing. They have a liquor license which is a plus. I had Cabernet which was lovely my husband had a peroni. Bread is served with a delicious olive tapenade. I ordered their vodka chicken parm which was not the best I've had but certainly delicious. The chicken was juicy and crispy and not too thin. The sauce was very good. Our daughter had the gnocchi bolognese and my husband had the chicken arrabbiata and although he liked it, felt it could have been spicier. Overall a great experience and we will dine in more often. I find the food here to be much better than the local Italian restaurant near by. read more

I was in the area and needed a quick bite to eat so I stopped by. I was happy to be able to get a quick plastic free meal. I paid about 13$ for 2 slices and a bottle of soda. The slices were a good size and i was happy they had some drinks that weren't in a plastic container, but damn! The plain slices they had didn't look too appetizing so i went with the margarita. They were very good but 4$ a slice is too much. They were advertising a lunch special, 2 slices and a soda for 6$. Go for lunch! This will be my last time at this restaurant. Reservation for a large party was made 10 days prior and we arrived to a staff already overwhelmed by 2 other large parties and no table set for us. When I stated we had a reservation, there was no book for the staff to even check. Why take a reservation if you are not going to write it down and have enough staff to serve your guests??? 2 tables were hastily thrown together, overwhelmed staff struggled to serve with no time to clear appetizer dishes before mains were served. Last weekend, I took my partner out to dinner at Fortissimo. We were in West Orange that afternoon and instead of trekking home and cooking, it just made sense. Also, both of us had been to the pizzeria when we were kids (we're talking 90s here), but haven't been in recent years. So why not do something different and try it out? It exceeded my partner's expectations - he raised an eyebrow when I first suggested it (the last time he was there, it was after his Mountain Top league soccer game) - but we had a fantastic dinner and would definitely come back again. So I dine with a vegetarian (who occasionally goes gluten-free); and we were able to order a fulfilling meal here. Below is what we ordered: - 1 large tossed salad with dressing on the side that we shared - 6 piece buffalo wings that I housed on my own - 1 personal cauliflower cheese pizza with roasted pepper, garlic, and spinach (~$20) - 1 personal regular drunken nona pizza pie (~$13) - 1 grilled veggie wrap that he sampled and then took home because we ordered with hungry eyes Salad was fresh. Wings were really good, the pieces were a generous size with a flavorful sauce and the right amount of heat. My partner said this was the best tasting cauliflower crust pizza he's had and would order it again. My drunken nona pizza was awesome and will be my go-to order. And the veggie wrap was a hit when sampled and also when eaten the day after. Our waiter was cool and took care of us. Also, when we entered, the guy at the counter greeted us and said we could take any table. There were about three other parties seated in the dining room area, and a few people ordering or picking up take out at the counter. The dining room area has nice dark wooden tables/booths, brick on the walls, wine racks and there was a piano in the middle of the space (surprised to see the piano). Stopped by for lunch for my first time here. I went for a slice of the chicken parmigiana pizza. While I didn't love this slice, I probably should have started with a plain on the first visit. To start the caesar salad came with one sprinkle of parmesan meanwhile the grilled chicken in both pastas ordered at the table came with a balsamic glaze that impacted the taste and flavor of the pastas. It was horrendous and completely unnecessary. Meanwhile the curly fries that came with another dish were horrible as well, lacking in flavor and freshness. I've been eating here about once a month for the last 11 years. I have a pretty good selection of food and different daily pizzas. Today they have a very creative menu based upon the Super Bowl. I always prefer the Insalata de Mare- it's a delicious combination of chilled shrimp, scallops and calamari on a bed of shredded lettuce with light olive oil and lemon. I have no clue why it is on the appetizer list and not under the salads but who cares. You usually have to ask for Italian bread with your meal because they usually don't bring it out otherwise. They always put a birthday candle in a cannoli for free if you're celebrating someone's birthday in your party, which is a nice touch. Update 9/4/2018: This is the third time I have been here when a lunch special is missing one of the main components, yet it's the same price. No compensation. I had a late lunch here earlier today. A friend of mine told me to meet her here. First time ever eating, or hearing about this spot. I WILL BE BACK! Excellent small restaurant, looks like a family owned business. Our server, unfortunately I didn't ask her name was super attentive and friendly. I made it simple. This place is hit or miss at best. I've been going here for years primarily b/c my kids know the name and it's close by. A few weeks ago we ordered wings and asked for "mild". They sent me some sweet bbq - not what I expected. Not good at all so we tossed it. Yesterday, the kids wanted pizza so we chanced it - although hubby said "remember, they're hit or miss" but I called anyway. This time when I called I spoke to a young lady and specifically asked for not sweet, not bbq mild hot sauce. I was assured that would be the case. When we got the food it was the same sweet bbq (grrr). I called and the young man that answered apologized and asked me if I wanted a new batch. I said yes, please. I drove back to the restaurant to return the food we didn't want and that same guy said... oh, do you want a new batch? I said, yes, please. I gave him the bbq batch (my mistake I guess). About 10 mins later that same young man brought me the new batch. I decided to check before leaving (bbq is dark brown, hot sauce is more orange), and although the order seemed very much globbed on since it was the right color I didn't complain. However, on my way out I realized that the order wasn't even hot. It was barely warm! So I went back to the counter and told the young man and he said (with a look on his face like - I know it's cold), do you want a new batch. By now, I said no. I complained that what had just happened was deceitful. I was asked to move away from the front. The next young lady that attended me said she was the manager. I told her I wanted a refund. She did it and gave me a revised receipt. When I asked for other confirmation she couldn't provide it. Someone close by suggested I ask for the owner. That young lady called the owner who interrupted me more than listened and in my opinion defended the staff. What a shame. We definitely won't return there. There was no utensils to eat with (told must make a request- to a hotel? C'mon man) The food was not seasoned or had any flavor at all, everything tasted the same. BLAND!
