Since my bad experience 4 years ago: I find that ordering directly with them on the phone versus through the app is the best experience. I literally have been coming here for 32 years. They must have recently completed an interior/exterior renovation finally, it's about time! One of the reasons why I was ordering is cause I couldn't stand being inside. My experience yesterday dining-in was a better environment. However, the place was practically empty. I'm pretty sure I know the reason why. It cost me $69 for a half sandwich soup combo, and half a pastrami sandwich with a side of chopped liver, and a hot tea. The tea plate was very thoughtfully appointed: hot water container, cup, honey, lemon, and a good quality teabag, served on a stone plate. My half pastrami sandwich was quite divine, the Ryebread was very fresh, but there was a little bit too much fat on the pastrami. The coleslaw was a little bit on the older side. And the chopped liver matched the expression on the waitresses face, it also was served without any bagel chips, crackers, or rye bread, nor was I asked if I wanted any of those items as typically you spread chopped liver on something! Their napkins are literally like using rough bad paper towels. I believe their utensils are oversized. My guest was extremely doted on, the waitress said that she was making it a half sandwich and soup combo, but I don't think that's what I was charged. How can two half pastrami sandwiches, a bowl of lentil soup, and a small scoop of chopped liver with a cup of tea come to $69??? My experience coming here in all my years is that the place was extremely packed- any time I came. Even my next-door neighbor who lived on the block for over 50 years would come here weekly. They used to have almost the best matzoh ball soup on the planet, not so much anymore they've changed the formula. The matzoh balls used to have flavor and be soft. I make a mean matzoh ball soup, and when I'm not feeling well, I used to buy it from here to nurse me back-to-health- Nature's remedy. But not so much anymore. their chicken soup had become the price of liquid gold. Stopped in to pick up a pastrami sandwich to go for a taste comparison to another local deli not too far away "B**nts". The restaurant is similarly decorated with an old time local town cafe type feeling. The staff was friendly and restaurant was clean. The pastrami sandwich was served on rye bread (we had asked for a roll). This pastrami was thicker cut with a bit more fat content than the competitor. Normally I do not like fat on my pastrami but for some reason I definitely like this sandwich quite a bit more than the other one. The other members of our party didn't agree but I would definitely choose this pastrami over the other with preferably a roll vs rye slices. Overall a solid 4/5 and good sandwich! read more

Stopped by a couple of weeks ago to grab some deli items. We haven't been ordering take out as much as we used to because I don't care for the online ordering system that is used now. You can't request customized orders, such as "substitute Swiss cheese for American cheese", so you have to call in and try to get the update made after placing the order. Also, they no longer offer discount specials, which was a motivating plus for years. We wanted to get some sliced turkey and cheese to make sandwiches at home. Stopped by and Florencia helped us. She was absolutely 5+ stars...super helpful and lovely to work with. We noticed a tray of cookies that had just come out and added a cookie to our order. I did not realize that baked goods were make onsite. Just left there on a Monday night. We have generally been pleased with Frank Weiler's Deli. Oh boy, not tonight. Tonight was not a good night. We had mediocre food and very poor service. The place was crowded and I could only see one server. Unfortunately, when the server finally saw us, she said three times she would be back. I watched people who ordered while we were waiting get their food. She finally returned and took our order. For whatever reason, she seemed annoyed with us and we gave her no reason. The server was just rude to us when she wasn't ignoring us. I could give you a laundry list of everything but let's just say we won't be back soon. Driving by from Nordstrom Rack on Victory and made a u-turn as I caught a glimpse of this business to the right. I never knew it was there. Its in a strip mall where the parking is a bit challenging but doable. I love the Weiler's on Parthenia (I think thats the street), but anyhoo, GREAT deli sandwiches. Fresh and very generous with the meat. They also have great soups. I love the chicken noodle with the matzo ball. In addition they have a large selection of breakfast items and deserts. been coming here forever, and took my wife for valentines day one day late on Sunday. food was good as usual and we ordered a "turkey pastrami" to go for my son, he does not eat pastrami. when we got home he noticed that it was not turkey pastrami so he could not eat it. I called the restaurant...no answer. I emailed the restaurant....no answer. So, here I am. I understand that mistakes happen but when the establishment does not respond to attempts at contact, I guess that says a lot about their commitment to good food and customer service. We were in town for an event, and after leaving the mall, we found this restaurant. We were seated quickly, got there before the lunch crowd Megan S, our server, was very pleasant, and accommodating to us. I asked for recommendation on the reuben sandwiches and she said if you like corned beef and pastrami, she said get the Super Reuben. Pastrami and corned beef mixed together with melted Swiss cheese and thousand dressing, and homemade sauerkraut! Plenty of meat on the sandwich, and moist too. I chose potato salad for my side. I love a good potato salad and I was not disappointed. Small cubes of potato with chopped celery to add crunch to it. My husband had the roast beef dip. Nice layer of roast beef slices and a cup of au jus to dip. He ordered it with onion rings instead of fries, he is allergic to potatoes. After our order was taken, Megan brought out a small.plates with pickle halves and homemade sauerkraut. The sauerkraut had a strong pickle taste, I loved it, tasted fresh. The pricing on the sandwiches is a little steep, but it does compare to our local deli in Torrance where we are from. I ended up bringing half my sandwich home, which I ate for dinner later. It was my first time trying out this restaurant. Let me start by saying that the service blew me away. The servers here are very attentive. They constantly came to my table and refilled my drink. They also made sure that I had everything that I needed. The portions are very generous here. The prices are just right for what you are getting. I ordered the jalapeño burger with curly fries. This is one of my favorite spots to visit when I am back home in the SFV. I have been quite a few times, it is such a great staple for breakfast. The staff is always very kind, we take a seat at the same booth nearly every time, and the atmosphere is pretty much always laidback as it is a chiller crowd. This deli has been our go-to breakfast place for a few years now. The lunch/dinner fare is equally as wonderful. I highly recommend the following for breakfast: Veggie omelette, blueberry pancakes, eggs Benedict (a MUST if you like these!) Lunch/dinner: Any of their homemade soups, especially matzo ball, split pea (amazing!), sweet and sour cabbage. Their sandwiches are huge, so do yourself a favor and get the 1/2 sandwich with soup so you can have room for both. The service is first rate, as is the ambiance. You know you're in a good deli when you're immediately struck with the wonderful smells once you step inside. This place is first rate! My only gripe is that they close at 8 pm. It used to be 3 stars, maybe 3 and a half, but today it became a 1. Here's why. This story is one hundred percent true, hand to god... One of my all-time favorite foods (at least top 3, maybe even numero uno - I've never even thought about it that much to decide) is Creamed Herring. My Jewish dad was born and raised on the streets of Brooklyn (Williamsburg to be exact), and, being his son, I began eating that and all of the deli staples as a very young lad. I crave the stuff. If I don't have it for a couple of months, it becomes like heroin; the Jones is so great that, at some point, I MUST go and get some. It's bad enough that it is getting harder and harder to find in markets, but I had this experience today that saddened me so much I just had to vent about it. I have been craving it for a couple of weeks now. The last few trips to a couple of different markets that usually carry it were fruitless; they no longer stock it. I had to take my better half to the dentist today in Woodland Hills. On the way home, I remembered we would be passing Weiler's Deli, so I said to myself, "Self - we're getting some Creamed Herring today." I know you probably think you know where this is going, but it's even more shocking than that. Weiler's is a so-called "Jewish Deli." I knew I would be paying a premium price straight from the deli (that's my mother in me), but at this point, I didn't care. We walked in, and I said we'd like to place an order to-go (we were getting sandwiches also). I asked the girl behind the counter how much the Creamed Herring was. She looked right at me and, stunningly, said, "What is that?" I looked at my wife, looked back at the counter-person, and, twitching with my jaw hanging wide open, said... NOTHING! I gathered myself and, after a moment or two, I said to her that it was a fish and could she please go and ask someone if they had it. I saw her discussing it with another person. She came back and said that they don't carry it. I truly don't know which I was more surprised at: the fact that a Jewish Deli didn't carry it, or a person working at a Jewish Deli didn't even know what the hell it was. I knew when Trump became the presidunce that I did not understand the world any longer, and it had passed me by, but this seals the deal. There's a lot of great food and an abundance of apostrophe's going on here at Frank's Weiler's Deli in Woodland Hills'. But we'll live with it 'cause the food is packed with delicious'ness. Every bite was magical beyond words. But since words are how we roll, here goes. I don't think I've ever tasted better SWEET POTATO FRIES. They hit 'em with a savory seasoning, then crisp 'em up just right. (The fact that I got stoned in the parking lot probably didn't hurt, but I digress.) You should know that they serve ice cold, CORONA's here - with a frosty mug. However, when asking for a wedge of lime, I was given a cup of lemons'. But there was no need to make lemonade out of those lemons'...I just drank the beer and all was right in my world. I felt in desperate need of a PATTY MELT. I can't say why. Maybe it was those fennel seeds in the rye bread...or maybe that medium-rare, thick and well-seasoned patty calling my name. Whatever it was, it was outta sight. Our son got the ULTIMATE OMELETTE loaded with onions, sausage, bacon, avocado and all sorts of other things that looked rather sinful yet extremely necessary. Those little-burn-on-'em hashed browns' were perfect. Other things I noticed at our table: a piled-high CORNED BEEF SANDWICH, a CHOPPED LIVER SANDWICH w/ EGG'S SALAD and some LIVER AND ONIONS with freshly steamed tasty carrots. They had to call the owner, Frank, who said he can't honor the price. I had a $20 credit for the Chinese Chicken salad I order last week and had to return it because it was soggy. They had to call Frank to get permission to give me my money back. If you ordered by phone or viewed online and were quoted a price without mention of fees, that should be the final total. Charging more at pickup without prior disclosure is a form of deceptive advertising, which is illegal under both SB478 and California's Unfair Competition Law . You may be entitled to legal remedies: You can demand the advertised price. You could file a complaint with the California Attorney General or local district attorney. I ordered a pastrami sandwich and bowl of mazoball soup and shared it with my wife. The food is very sub-par deli food. The mazoball was absolutely vile and had no flavor and was tough in texture. The chicken broth was similar to Cambells canned soup. The pastrami sandwich was cute. Made on mini rye bread so you get two quarters of a sandwich that looks like a small whole sandwich. If you're hungry and sharing a regular deli sandwich will do the trick. This place is a joke people. Maybe Jewish deli isn't they should be calling this place? I visited Frank's Weiler's Deli while driving around for food. I was expecting a small local sandwich shop form the outside and was surprised to see a restaurant equipped with seating and a large menu. On a weekday afternoon, it was PACKED, and I wasn't quite noticed for a few minutes. I was in a rush and decided to order takeout. I was told that my food would be done in about 5 minutes, but realistically I spent about 15 minutes waiting for my food. I ordered a Woodland Hills Classic since it seemed like a basic sandwich, and reluctantly paid about $25 in total. I got my food and rushed out to enjoy it, and upon opening it wasn't sure whether to feel amazed or surprised at the amount. The sandwich was served on a classic square bread, and the bread tasted good. All of the main ingredients (tuna, bacon, avocado, tomato) were fresh, and the Muenster cheese was also a good addition. I have to admit the fries were on the saltier side, and I wish they would have given a little more. Overall, I think the food was great, but service was lacking. We used to be regulars at this place, going there every Saturday. Their food is good and their service is decent. However, there's this one busboy who has continued to be rude to us. He ignores us, hasn't brought water when we asked, coffee isn't topped up. It just makes for an unpleasant start to the weekend so we found another place.
