Popular brunch spot & a good option on Sundays when not every place is open on King's Street. There is a bit of a wait (could be over 30 min), depending on the size of your crowd. Our waiter was super busy & at times hard to flag down. He did a nice job of refills for the kids, but when the food came out, we literally had zero napkins and zero utensils. That is basic stuff- I shouldn't have to flag down people for when getting seated. I ended up finding another waiter who was helping to bring out our food and asking him for napkins and cutlery. The beignets here are not what you expect- think super mini ones versus the classic ones you get from Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans or other joints. We would have placed two orders of them except I knew the brunch plates would be big, and we wanted our kiddos to eat their meal before filling up on sweets. I got the Meeting plate- double portion of crab cakes on top of fried green tomatoes with grits and a huge buttermilk biscuit, where I didn't finish the biscuit and had one of our kids eat half of it. I was craving some fried green tomatoes but also wanted seafood so that worked out! My partner got the fried green tomatoes BLT and loved it. One of our kids got the chicken and waffles, another ate all of the fried chicken tenderloins, and our third really wanted buttermilk pancakes that were a hefty plate. No shortage of being hungry at this place! The food was good, but I would not say it was anything too different than any other brunch place-but for, the fried green tomatoes & other southern offerings like grits that you wouldn't get in other parts of the country. There are only two wash rooms, so there can be a wait especially when you have a long line of ladies waiting FYI. Prices are not too bad and standard for brunch so still an alternative when you are looking for fuel to fill up before doing your shopping on King's Street. read more

Cute breakfast spot close your hotel. Being from the north I was searching for good biscuits. I ordered the eggs meeting street which was a fried green tomato, crab cake, poached egg all stacked and covered with hollandaise sauce. Served with hashbrowns and a biscuit. The tower of eggs and crab cake was good but heavy. You could order single or double and I don't know how someone could eat double it was very rich and heavy. The hashbrowns were crispy and seasoned well but the biscuit was very hard on the outside. The inside was soft though and good with jam. My husband got biscuits and gravy and said the same thing about the biscuits. Overall good and lots more on menu we didn't try. read more

Im not sure the hype of this place is worth the wait, but overall this place is a decent brunch spot. Joined the online wait list prior, which I highly recommend, and still waited about 45 minutes. Service was friendly but very hectic. I got the crab Benedict which overall wasn't bad. The crab was fresh and the biscuit was very good, eggs were over cooked and sauce was average. They have nice brunch drink options aswell as a full bar. Inside is nice and they have a rather large bar with plenty of seating. read more

The waitress really over sold it saying certain entrees were "to die for" when I would say it was an extremely average meal. The cocktails weren't very good. Our waiter started off being a little rude about our friend's gluten allergy. "Oh this is southern cooking, it's all gluten, you came to the wrong place." As if gluten allergies do not exist in the south (where we are also from!). Then another waiter spilled so much water on the table next to us and NEVER CLEANED IT UP. There was water dripping off the table and on the floor by us the entire time we were there. The waitstaff bringing plates just shoved them in our faces; no spatial awareness. They just expected us to grab them by practically getting out of our seats. And the food was honestly subpar. Toast! All Day was an interesting restaurant, but I didn't have the greatest dining experience here. There must have been a miscommunication between staff members, because after we were seated, nobody came to serve our table, and we had to ask for a server. We weren't the only people that this happened to, as another group of patrons sat next to us, and then got up and left after not being served for an extended period of time. After flagging down a server, the experience was fine, but nothing spectacular. Out waitress wasn't very attentive, which was a little frustrating because we were on a timeline. This was kind of disappointing, because I really did like the ambiance of the restaurant, and it would have been nice if the experience was representative of that. They had a really cool open-air brick oven for pizzas, and I loved the aesthetic of the bar as well. Luckily, they had a few IPAs in a can, and my friend said that their drink was pretty good as well. All-in-all, Toast! All Day was a cool restaurant, but the poor communication between staff members kind of put a damper on the experience. We had breakfast here and overall really enjoyed it! The food was tasty, the portions were generous, and the prices were very reasonable--especially for Charleston. The coffee was also great, which is always a plus. The only downside was my eggs Benedict--while the flavor was good, the eggs were cooked solid all the way through instead of being runny like a proper poached egg. It wasn't a dealbreaker, but it did take away from the dish a bit. Still, everything else we tried was solid, the service was friendly, and I'd come back again for another breakfast. V E R Y Tasty Brunch First visit to the Trip Advisor Award Winner for Best Breakfast in Charleston and Toast deserves it. We were walk-ups and a had a very short wait n a bright Sunday fall morning on King Street. We were seated in the main dining room and were quickly tended to by our waiter. Our two spicey Bloody Mary's were very tasty and decent sized pint glasses. We ordered two egg entrees and the Bacon & Ham omelet was terrific - hot and flavorful. The highlight of our Sunday brunch was Toast's huge homemade fresh biscuits - Wow - wonderful served warm. Toast is a success and has a bright interior decor. Breakfast all day - well at least until 3:00. Brunch in Charleston is a 'thing' I guess. We got to the restaurant around 2:00, so it wasn't crowded. There is a nice bar too and they say they have great pizza. Being from Connecticut, I'm sure their pizza is great by Charleston standards, but I have big doubts it could compete with Connecticut pizza. So we will stick with breakfast food I had the veggie omelet with grits and a biscuit. Let me say - this was the biggest biscuit I ever saw - and it was good. So were the grits and so was my fluffy omelet. My husband had eggs, biscuit & corned beef hash. And the hash was wonderful. Homemade. So good. It was busy the day we went, but not packed. We sat at the bar... it was not full. The bartender was all over the place.... not efficient at all. We ordered bloody Mary's ... took 20 minutes. We ordered our food, but then about 15-20 minutes later, she told us she thought she put it in wrong. Looked to us like she never put it in at all. So, we told her again what we wanted. Took over 30 minutes for the food, that was after the second time we told her our order.... so really, we waited over 45 minutes. The food was NOT hot. Eggs were cold. If there's one thing I'd give five stars for, it's the service and drinks! I ordered the shrimp and grits with an espresso martini. Since I regularly order shrimp and grits for brunch, I was disappointed with this dish. It lacked flavor, and the portion size was quite small for the price. The ambience was very nice. It was clean and appropriate air-conditioned. We seated immediately, which was very good. I noticed that this fresh grease orange juice was $12 a glass but regular orange juice was four so I asked for orange juice. I told her I wanted the regular orange juice and she informed me that the regular orange juice was out and that the fresh squeezed was $12 a glass so I asked her to substitute. And she told me she would just bring me water. So I said I'll have apple juice then and when she said, can I help you to my husband she said I am very grateful to help you. Meaning she was DONE with me . The food came out in a timely fashion. It was well presented. However, my white toast had a staple in it. A metal staple. At that point, I decided that it was probably no longer safe to eat there. I have to get on a plane in a few hours, and I was concerned that there was actual metal in my food we offered to pay for the coffee and tea that we drank and then we left. They did tell us not to worry about the coffee or tea, and we are very happy to leave. Attention to detail lacked we will not be returning. read more

After arriving in Charlestown, a little after noon on a Saturday, we were on the search for brunch or lunch. Most places had to wait that was one and a half to two hours. Then we found Toast All Day. We were seated within a few minutes of arriving as there was only one party in front of us. We sat in the back dining room near a window and although it was a table for two, we had plenty of room. Our waitress Crystal gets 10 stars from me. She greeted us within minutes of being seated. Once she discovered we had never been to Charleston, she walked us through the menu and made suggestions. She took our drink order and came back with a few minutes. I ordered a fried green tomato BLT with a crab cake and fries. My wife ordered the basic breakfast. When the food arrived, everything looked great. The crab cake was on my fried green tomato BLT and for $8, I definitely would have expected it to be bigger. I ate it separately and discovered that there was no bacon in my BLT. Crystal was slammed with a big party but saw my face and came right over to help. She brought more bacon than I could even eat out to me. It was perfectly cooked! I added it to my sandwich and must say it was delicious. The manager even ended up taking 15% off the bill, which was appreciated. My wife enjoyed her breakfast but did burn the roof of mouth pretty bad on the home-fries because they were extremely hot even after a few minutes of letting them cool. Overall, I enjoyed this place and would go back. Service was phenomenal, food was great, my only issue was kitchen accuracy. read more
