I had been craving pizza all this past week. So when my youngest son chose Fratelli's for dinner, he didn't get an argument from me! Tonight, he and I shared a 16" olive and sausage pizza. Normally, I can't live without pepperoni, but I honored my sons' choice and it was amazingly good! The crust had that smokey char on it and was so crisp it didn't droop when you picked it up. On other occasions, with additional family members, we have also enjoyed the wings and the salads. The Big Sky special is our go to, and highly recommended. I've been to this location several times and it never disappoints. The service is always friendly no matter how busy they are. They even expanded into a space in the strip mall behind the restaurant to handle the take out orders and relieve how crowded this old Pizza Hut building gets. Living in Phoenix, I've noticed all the popular "boutique" pizza shops springing up. And I've tried several of them. Did I Yelp! about any of them? No. They are good. And they are a trend. Extremely sad to be giving this place a two star review. My family and I brought our friend from out of town to our favorite pizza place, only to be so disappointed. We waited over an hour in a half for our pizza, everyone including the manager kept making excuses on why it was taking so long. Fiona one of the waitresses needs a class in customer service. She was rude, disrespectful and kept rolling her eyes. I understand it was a Friday night and extremely busy but that is no excuse for lack customer service. It was such an unpleasant experience that I'm not sure if we will even be back. Once we received our pizza it tasted horrible and the whole pizza was burnt. The only reason why I'm giving this review two stars is because the manager finally refunded our money after going back and forth. Fratelli's has the best pizza I've ever had. The crust has just the right amount of crisp but still a little chewy and not to bready at the edges. Good sauce to cheese ratio. Happened in here on our way through Flagstaff. The pizza combinations were unique and we ended up choosing the Flagstaff on gluten free crust with a side spinach salad. Both were just okay. Disappointed! Enjoy the lunch specials at Fratellis west side. Stopped into the east side location with the same expectations. Sadly, not the same. Got the dice, salad and drink for $8.00 added jalapenos to my slice for an additional $0.50. No worries. Slice came out with 9 pieces of jalapeno, roughly $0.0556 cents per slice. One would think, maybe errantly that for an extra $0.50 you'd receive a decent offering of jalapenos. Nope. On the west side, they'll even provide more jalapenos, no dice here. I have never once had a take out order with "everything" I ordered in the bag. Once they forgot my soda. Once they forgot my side of marinara..... you get the point. We arrived around 5:30 pm on a Friday. To my surprise, It was already busy. We lined up and ordered their special pizza to eat in the car for a short road trip. I forgot the name but it had buffalo sauce. We waited quite some time for a small pizza (25-30 min). But it was so good. I love the crust! I do not care for the tangy sauce but my husband loves it. We did take-away for pizza and salad on a Saturday night. Pros - - GF crust! And it was thin and yummy - tons of topping choices and some really interesting specialty pizzas. BF got a pepperoni and I got Rout 66 on GF. He said his was delicious. The pepperoni was stacked high and cut thick. Mine had a great kick and was full of flavor. Next time I'll do without the bacon though. Or perhaps try something new. It was hard to narrow down my choice to one. - side salad was field greens, not just iceberg and romain. No waiters/waitresses. -basic pizza joint decor and seating arrangement, with the addition of a "bar" where you can eat pizza and watch TV while watching the cooks toss their pizza dough. -one male and one female restroom, there was a wait the whole time we were there Service: -cashier was pretty friendly, it was cool to be able to watch the kitchen staff making pizzas -not that it really matters, but this place was entirely staffed by your stereotypical Flagstaff hipster Liberal Arts major. If you absolutely detest mustaches, ironic t-shirts or thick-framed eyeglasses that are not actually used for vision correction, don't come here. -wait time for pizza was less than 10 minutes -staff cleaned bathrooms while we were there, something I actually appreciate that they do DURING their shift and not just at the close of day. Food: -my dad and I ordered a small 10" Pesto Cashew pizza (basil pesto, grilled chicken, mozzarella, red onion, mushroom, bleu cheese and cashews, minus the cashews.... $11.25) and I had a soda ($1.99). -we both really liked the pizza and had three slices each, left feeling full and not at all unsatisfied. The crust was nicely flavored and had a good density/chew to it. The pizza was not at all greasy and the toppings were perfectly cooked. YUM. I like that they offer vegetarian and gluten-free options right on the menu, makes it an easy choice for bringing people with dietary restrictions. Literally the best pizza I've ever had. I no longer live the area, but now that I have a Yelp account I feel obligated to write a review for this place--it is THAT good. There are two locations... one on 4th St, and one just south of the tracks in downtown Flagstaff. Both are equally awesome and I would recommend both to anyone. The 4th Street location is more suited for families (the building seems to be a former pizza hut) and tends to get crowded around dinner, especially on Friday nights. The location downtown seems to be a hot spot for lunch, but tends to be less crowded in the evenings. If you are in a rush for dinner it may be wise to avoid the 4th St location... it is a popular post-game pizza joint for local youth sports teams. For lunch they have two specials to choose from: one slice & salad, or two slices. Slices are huge, thin, and taste amazing. Dinner is the usual pizza joint menu. I should note that the full pies aren't as thin as the lunch special slices... but if you ask them to make it thin they will. The dinner specials, which are named after local themes, aren fairly priced. The staple order for my roommate and I was the Lumberjack special: Large one topping with breadsticks and two cans of soda. We usually ate there to catch the sports game, as they have plenty of large screen TVs with the full line up of sports channels. A.M.A.Z.I.N.G! Ever been in a restaurant full of miffed customers? I gave Fratellis one last shot after increasingly disappointing experiences, and this one was even worse than prior experiences. All the customers were complaining about long wait times and lack of service. No quality control on my order with one tiny pizza wedge amidst huge pieces not cut through entirely. Cheese sticks with all the cheese melted out. 30 minute wait time after the time they said to be there. No apologies. Super unengaged staff. The pizza was ok, it was everything else that did them in.
