We chose Fratelli's Bistro as it came up in Yelp as serving Gluten Free meals. in fact it was just pizza and salad and that was just fine. Good GF pizza, nice thin base so all good. The restaurant is a relaxed casual place, lots of locals, and a relaxed casual place to dine. There was also a bar if you fancied just a drink. It was good value with good service. read more

Family owned and operated says a lot about the restaurant. The food is great but the service is even better. Hot pizza baked fresh and their signature pasta dish with green chiles are two of our favorites. I heartedly recommend the white wine . Ambiance is nice with tables , booths and barstools. Had the best server I've seen from Texas to California and back! Wish I'd caught the name, bright blue eyes and super kind with my little girls who made a little more of a mess then was necessary sorry! The pizza was fresh, Chicken and Pasta was perfect and that Gelato was too good to pass on! Had a late dinner here with my family and it was definitely a pleasant surprise. The service was fast and extremely friendly. We ordered the garlic parm wings, a pizza (half carnivore, half kitchen sink) and the Pazzo Pasta, everything was excellent! The wings especially were our favorite! Wow, wow, wow, we started with the chicken wings. Excellent crunch and flavor. It is a must get when you visit. Me and my son shared a pizza that was half pepperoni and half kitchen sink. Which the kitchen sink has everything. Great taste and very fresh ingredients. My daughter had Alfredo pasta with shrimp which she said was excellent and the shrimp were fresh. Stopped here on our way through New Mexico, great service and great food! They even have an outdoor patio, which we sat at since the weather was nice. We ordered the super yummy Alfredo fries and they did not disappoint! We would definitely get those again, or possibly figure out how to make them at home.. Tried the mozzarella and artichoke that isn't on the menu but is recommended and it was only ok, it can't replace the caprese. Last we ordered a large pizza to share which was great! It was half veggie and half Alfredo with spinach and mushroom(forgot what they called it). Guess Alfredo was the theme for us. The pizza is a thicker crust, which the family loved, especially since it was cooked so nicely. Slightly Crunchy outside but the dough inside was soft. For desert we had to try the gelato, they even let us sample as many flavors as we liked. My favorite was the toasted coconut. The only reason that I didn't give it five stars is because the prices were rather high for what we got, our bill totaled $75. We would stop here again for sure given the opportunity! read more

We got takeout while stopping for the night in Gallup on our way to Phoenix. We got 2 calzones (one of which was the Heart Attack), the New Mexico Po Boy pasta, and a chocolate chip pizookie with Oreo gelato. It was all fabulous. The calzones were huge (we got the same size). One would have been plenty for two people but we wanted to try different flavors. I was disappointed that they didn't have the Wild Mushroom Ravioli but the Po Boy pasta was delicious albeit very spicy for my taste. The side salad that came with it was fresh tasting and crisp. The Pizookie was awesome but it would be difficult to mess that up. The gelato was smooth and creamy and yummy. It was a bit on the pricey side so not something for everyday but I would definitely go back if in the area again. Highly recommended! read more

What a great experience! My family and I were in town for a ballooning event and it was late and they were so nice and accommodating of the amount of people that we had and concerned we came about 30 minutes prior to them closing. The staff was very friendly and the decor of the restaurant is cute and makes you feel like you're in little Italy. The food came in very large portions and we had no complaints of any of the food. And between my large family and I, I believe we ordered everything on the menu. For desert we had their homemade gelato which was delicious! When we are back next year for the Red Rock Balloon Rally, we will be back! read more

My 9 year old twins split a small bacon and pepperoni pizza (perfect size) and said it was the best they had ever had in their lives! We also ordered naked wings which were crispy and delicious! This place claims to have been featured on Food Network. That's either a downright lie, or it was Restaurant Impossible on one of those episodes where the restaurant is already too far gone for Robert Irvine's help. The cleanliness of a restaurant is usually a telling sign of how much the employees care. After all, presentation is the first impression to a customer, and nothing says "we care" like an immaculate establishment. This restaurant either doesn't care, or has such a high, arrogant opinion of their own food that they feel cleanliness can be overlooked. While there wasn't really any major issue (nor any major highlight) regarding the dining area, the bathrooms told a different story: one of carelessness and disorganization. With cleaning supplies scattered across the floor, a permeating odor, and dirt on every surface, it certainly didn't spell "Food Network" restaurant; it felt more like the bathrooms at the Raiders stadium after a big game or even perhaps the portable bathrooms at a construction site. The second sign of care is the organization of the waitstaff. Once again, for a place that was purportedly appraised by Food Network, this was severely underwhelming. After placing an order for pizza, the waitress, who had clearly forgotten to put the order in, neglected to visit our table in the meantime for even a minor update on the inordinate wait time. The third, and final, chance that a restaurant has to redeem itself, is through the food that it claims is their specialty. Without a doubt, Fratelli's claims to be an Italian restaurant, but the truth behind that is still up for debate. The pizza, something that should be simple for an Italian restaurant, came back as though it were the result of a day one culinary student. The crust and toppings were clearly pre-made and frozen, the tomato sauce had come from a jar, and the pizza overall lacked any kind of seasoning. Frozen pizza rounds do not rise correctly, and let's not forget that pre-grated cheese is covered in cellulose to prevent caking, a property that changes how it will melt. These are facts that even amateur chefs should have a grasp of, but, sadly, were lost among the staff at Fratelli's. Until this place undergoes a severe management change and/or remodeling, these problems will likely persist. The Food Network recommendation is obviously an accolade that was received long ago, during a time when the restaurant was clean, the waitstaff were attentive, and the pizzas were actually made from scratch. However, if that were ever true at some point, today's Fratelli's doesn't even retain a shred of this past. Pizza Hut offers a better value for pizza, and that's coming from the same person who just complained about pre-made ingredients. read more

Just driving through Gallup on our way to Albuquerque and we found this little gem. Gluten free pizza! My daughter and I both enjoyed our pizzas (if you like cheese I recommend ordering extra) we would definitely come back if we found ourselves in Gallup again. Service was great, AND they have gelato!! Pizza is pricey, our gluten free with two toppings was $18.95, comparable to their other pizzas plus a couple dollars for the gluten free crust. read more

Due to work assignment, we are staying in Gallup long enough to try out pretty much every restaurant in town on weekends. Hubby had been brought here on a previous trip to town and we have come back twice since, including last night. Crowded, busy, glad it is open late because we often are driving back from a long day trip. We have had the white pizza, chicken scaloppini, and carbonara. I can say they use cream, which is what makes these dishes wonderful, and unfortunately deadly for me... Because we are living in a hotel we have found ourselves both craving salads so it is a real treat to get a nice one here. Service is very good. Both visits we have taken a medium gelato back to the hotel, which we can share for 2 evenings. One of hubby favorite places in the area. I just need to find something without dairy in it but there are still plenty of options. read more

The portions are HUGE, the prices reflect that as well. It's expensive and the restaurant is always cold. The service is usually fast and friendly. Totally outstanding! Traveling back to our home on California's central coast, Gallup was an accidental stop for us. On the advice of our hotels desk, we took a short (away from 491 mostly) drive to Fratelli's. The owner, Ruth, served us with the personal connection and care so often missing today. And the food!! "Ruth's" lasagna soared to the top of my long-time lasagna survey. Every element from the pasta, the sausage, the whipped ricotta, to the sauce was perfectly executed. My wife had the New Mexico linguini with green chili sauce and more of that delicious sausage. The wine selection, by the glass or bottle, was very good, and the prices for all--$7/glass & $26/bottle--can't be beat. The Chianti is excellent! Don't get us started about the amazing house-made gelato! As I said, Gallup was an accidental stop this time. From here on Gallop, and Fratelli's, will be very much on purpose. Oh, boy... where do I start? I was so looking forward to trying this place since the moment I moved to AZ and drove by it. These two stars are for the fresh bread I got (we went on a Saturday am) and for the young guy who was very apologetic for the slow service. Lemme save you some frustrations here: this is NOT authentic Italian food. This is americanized Italian food and, as always, not in a good way! The young girl who waited on us just brought the food and left, she didn't even get back to get the money, although the place is not that big and she was always in the vicinity, serving other folks. Oh, well... I had the eggplant parmesan like I've never had it in an authentic Italian place. I had on my plate exactly four small pieces of burnt breaded eggplant on a bed of pasta with an overwhelmingly acidic tomato sauce that hid the taste of the parmesan and the eggplant. What a disappointment. I just eat it because I was really hungry and ready to go on with my day. The place has a few beers on tap and a small selection of wine. Haven't tried any of the drinks because I was the driver but decided to try the gelato.... Folks, real gelato is creamy, as in dreamy-creamy, it's that way because it's soft and high in fat content. Well, not this one... This one is more ice and has a flat taste and texture. I was surprised to hear the gelato was made in the house... Yeap, you guessed it!
