This is my local Fred Meyer (Lake City in the hizzzouse - Gawd that was lame), newly renovated. Fred Meyer is one of those super stores, where you can buy groceries, underwear, polyester pants, houseplants, blue eyeshadow and bathtub caulking all in one trip! The recent renovation seems to have made ample room for the newly improved organic and natural foods section. Prices are fairly competitive with QFC, and oftentimes cheaper. But what is it with this Fred Meyer? I still can't place the vibe on this store -- part ghetto, part QFC University Village, part wannabe Whole Foods, part tanning salon. I say tanning salon because if you ever have the chance, or shall I say OPPORTUNITY, to check out with Ernie, the fabulously tan checker (did someone say George Hamilton?) then you will know what I mean. I've only lived in Lake City for 3 years and still can't get a vibe on this hood. It seems that the local Fred Meyer is suffering similar identity ambiguity. While the grocery section is ok, the clothing and other household/personal items sold upstairs are kind of expensive (at least for my cheapskate tastes) and you might be better off going to a non-onestop wondershop store for the aforementioned. read more

Wow - ordered a deli sandwich here, and the woman who made it acted and looked like she'd taken too many tranquilizers. Super, super slow to move, talk - and no facial expression whatsoever. And on top of that, she forgot to put lettuce in it, though it's the kind of shop where you put a check mark next to what you want. Easy to review the sandwhich before delivery, wouldn't you say? Before I got my "service" from her, another woman had given me the paper with the checklist options and then simply disappeared! And you know what? Though the sandwich was pretty cheap, it tasted pretty cheap, too. Go to the Safeway deli counter - - there's some real options there! read more

Please note: This review is specifically for the key department at this Fred Meyer. Individual employee "Keisha" attempted to help us. After spending fifteen minutes making one key for the person in front of us, we attempted to walk up and give her the number for the key we need copied- since it's a Fred Meyer key to begin with, and had the key number literally on the key. She ignored us (and apparently wasn't satisfied that the number on the key was the correct number) and spent five minutes looking the key number up. After which, instead of putting the keys into the machine in a normal manner, she violently jams the keys in and makes the machine make some very strange noises. A few minutes later she looks at the original key in her hand, and the copy she's made. She places them so they are exactly the same in her hand and says "Okay, done". We get them home to test, and the new keys do not work. At all. There were two we needed copied. NEITHER worked. Frustrated, we turn around and drive back. Somebody different appears this time to help us, Gary. The first thing he does is pull a sharpie from his pocket, marks the key in each groove with black, and puts it back into the cutter. He pulls it out, blinks and goes "Wow. She really did mess this up. None of the black shows. BUT it's only a 50/50 chance when we recut keys so let me make you an extra, just in case." This time when we get home, everything works wonderfully. There are certain things I expect from Fred Meyer in general; Decent prices, good selection, competent employees, etc. I don't really care if this employee was having a bad day- She needs to check her attitude and issues at the door and be at work. If she is not capable of working the machine, she needs to get retrained or go find somebody who does. read more

I literately patron this Store everyday, Everyone is friendly and I've never experienced any problems while shopping, The issue is that sometimes the check out yourself line turns into a mad house, Picture this you accidentally touch the weight sensor wham "wait for attendant" mhr waiting waiting, ok cool you can see the sensitive machine asked for your assistance for no reason. Still checking out oh no don't walk away Now I need to wait another couple min's for you to check my ID because I'm buying a beer. You can wait there and if your not assertive and force the attendant to tend you quickly for ten minutes easy. I know what your thinking then why wouldn't you just skip self check out if you resent it so much. Well most of the time there's consistently lines, you see Lake City is a heavy residential area and besides Grocery Outlet (lets face it know one shops there ) EVERYONE shops at Freddy's so the check out lines will have full cart once a week family shoppers. So there's really no winning if you trying to get in and out. The upstairs has some clothes , shoes, flowers / plants / toys and sporting goods. I don't go up there very often but when I do you can look around for a deal every now and again. Nothing special very Target-ish and the gardening area is pretty cool. All and all Fred Meyers has NOTHING wrong with it, the place is a modestly priced family orientated grocer .. other then the long waits checking out (pick your poison). The Lake City Fred Meyer does many things: grocery, household, clothing, pharmacy, electronics, home improvement, garden, etc. but it does none of them well. The simple truth is that because it's convenient and has extended hours I end up at this store semi-frequently. But, every time I walk into the store I am reminded just how much I hate it. The majority of the store is taken up by the grocery department, which others seem to really appreciate, but which I find to be nothing special. Fred Meyer is owned by Kroger and I don't think the prices or promotions are any better than QFC, which in my opinion provides a much nicer shopping experience. If I had to come up with one word to describe the grocery department, it's utilitarian--maybe not in a ghetto Walmart fashion, but more like a Grocery Outlet or Cash and Carry store. Unfortunately, the grocery portion of the store is the high water mark. The rest of the store is just a poorer version of products that you can fine in numerous other stores in NE Seattle and often, for a lot less money. Looking for housewares? Bed, Bath and Beyond is way better. Looking for home improvement? You can't go wrong at the Tweedy and Popp two blocks away, Roosevelt Hardware a few miles south or, if you prefer a big box store, Loewes or Home Depot straight up 125th to Aurora (and then take a left). Clothing? Take your pick at Northgate--unless you're hitting a clearance sale, then you can often find some great deals. Give Freddy's credit. They're highly motivated to clear their shit out of the store. And it goes on and on. The Lake City Fred Meyer is a two story facility and the upstairs features a whopping two cash registers - for the whole floor--and most of the time only one is staffed. This leads to ridiculous bottlenecks up there. It's utterly preposterous and infuriating and guaranteed, someone in line ahead of you is going to have an item that's missing a UPC or isn't scanning at a sale price or has a pile of coupons but hasn't had the courtesy to sort through them yet. I'm just telling you, you are going to wait. So is there anything redeeming about this store? Well as I mentioned at the start, the convenience factor earns it a token two stars. The store is open to 11PM every night so on those nights when it's 10:30 and suddenly you need a stop a drip under the sink, you have a place to go. Additionally the Fred Meyer gas stations are amongst the cheapest gas you can find. But, there's no gas station at this location so I'll save that review of another day. read more

This place is HUGE! I love that I can pick up so many things from this place: Groceries (duh) Hardware Bedding & Bath Home decor Clothing Automotive Garden (!) Ok, ok, I know what you're saying..."isn't that basically a Walmart?" I suppose so, but after living in the Capitol Hill area for so long, this store seems amazing. The prices are better than Fred Meyers cousin QFC, and so is the selection. Next, the staff. They're freakin' great! They're so helpful and friendly. I've never run across someone who was rude or obviously unhappy. That's a big deal! This store seems to keep their employees happy, good job! read more

Okay, so this Fred Meyer isn't on the "top go to" list. BUT; I have had some really great customer experiences here. The customer service lady (Christie?) is very helpful when you are returning an item and there's a younger gentleman that works here (Ian?) who has a wonderful smile and is very kind and professional when it comes to helping with any questions. I've gone here a lot over the years, mainly because it's close to home and they seem to always have what I am looking for. Sure, you see some weirdos, some people who look like they should be in the looney bin, some ghetto hillbillies from time to time, but they never bother me and I always find what I am looking for. All in all, it's a store that carries a wide variety of product at a decent price and I will continue to go here as long as I live in the area! And let's not forget to mention, the parking lot is HUGE and there's a parking lot on the upper area as well....annnnd it's located right next to a bus stop! Score! read more

I really like the Ballard Fred Meyer so when I needed a few things in a pinch I went to the Fred Meyer closest to my house. This happened to be the Lake City store. I want to start off by saying this Fred Meyer is nothing like the Ballard location. Do not judge all Fred Meyer's alike because they are owned by the same conglomerate. This stores produce was not fresh, which was startling compared to what I would purchase at the store in Ballard. The selection of MoringStar products here is also much smaller than other stores in the area which is aggravating. I went here for MorningStar and pineapple for dinner. More than anything though was the guy running the Self Checkout lanes was so rude. My partner and I use self checkout lanes because we like to split grocery costs and this allows us to do it without driving a poor checker crazy. We can also take our good sweet time without holding up a huge line. This is nice when we get in to a friendly debate about who bought butter and eggs last. So with the new bag ordinance in Seattle we dutifully brought out reusable bags in, but as often happens we picked up a few more products then intended. So when we started scanning the second half of our order and adding these items to are already partially, via the skip bagging option, the gentleman on duty came over and very rudely berated us for doing this. We attempted to explain the bag situation and splitting costs and he went one about how the equipment was not designed to work this way and we cannot use that option. I was honestly startled! We do this same thing on Self checkout stations at every grocery store we frequent and never had we been treated so rudely. I cannot stand such rude attendants! So between the rude staff, questionable produce, and smaller selection I will not return. read more

After getting my second covid shot I had several side effects. No taste, at all. Numbness in my hands and feet. Tightness in my right chest area and finally confusion. The female pharmacist I spoke with gave me a website to go to. Turns out it's a page that pharmacy staff are supposed to report adverse side effects, this is required BY LAW. I could not send it as I didn't have the proper ID information. I lost my job / health insurance because of covid so I hope I don't die. I was at self check out the other night at Fred Meyers in Totem Lake right at closing. For Unknown reasons "on sale" or digital coupons were not reflecting on the register. Diesel check out cashier, Ashley, was an absolute darling and assisting me with this situation. She took the time and had the patience to go through each line item , void it and re-ringing it with the proper amount Deducted. She was truly a sweetheart. She Turned A negative into a positive! I live 5 minutes away so this has become my go-to place for groceries and miscellaneous household items. PLUSES: - well stocked produce section, with a nice little selection of more tropical or exotic items - BIG freezer section where I can stock up on cheap Lean Cuisines for when want to I fool myself into thinking I am healthy at work - Lots of checkout lanes, most of which are usually open, and a self-check out lane for when you want to play store - decent Asian foods section - usually great prices - got my Shellfish Licence there too the morning we headed out to Hood Canal for some shrimping MINUSES: - though not their doing, the blue MovieCube out front has only given me headaches (wouldn't accept a movie I was returning then charged me the additional days until I could get it to accept it, etc.) - Garden center is upstairs. If I want to grocery shop and buy bigger items for the garden, you basically have to move your car - wish they had a bigger meat/seafood section and a bigger bakery Freddy's saves me from having to go and pay lots at the crappy QFC on 127th. And since they closed down my Albertson's and converted it into a Goodwill on 15th, I am so grateful for bargain grocery shopping here! read more

My wife and I shop at Fred Meyer Lake City Way, Seattle WA at least 2 times a week, the customer service reps and cashiers are always very helpful and the most we love is their Smiles. We again go shopping this evening around 8pm, the cashier "Oliver" is a big tall guy who might be a manager (his badge didn't tell. He subbed and phoned someone to take over) missed scanning a coupon for an item. My wife reminded him, he didn't apologize, he said "mam, you didn't tell me to scan it" May be he is tired, may be Fred Meyer pays him too low, or may be he didn't like to work at Fred Meyer at all. read more

Yes! There are other people here who share my love for Fred Meyer!! I am so happy that other people appreciate it like I do :) My friends told me I should be their spokeswoman. Fred Meyer not only has everything I need, the regular prices are often lower than on-sale items at other grocery stores, and the organic/natural selection is great. On numerous occasions, I've had something I needed to buy, shopped everywhere else, and couldn't find what I wanted. Then I'd think, well, it doesn't hurt to check Freddy, and lo and behold, Freddy had exactly what I wanted, at half the price of what I expected to pay. I've apologized to Freddy for ever doubting - I felt like I was cheating on him and when I returned, he'd say this I-told-you-so "You'll find it at Fred Meyer" (that's actually their commercial jingle). When I'm out of town, usually one of the first things I do upon returning is go to Freddy's to re-stock my fridge. I swore to never enter another Fred Meyer after my most recent shopping experience there. Typically I try to avoid Fred Meyer because I don't like the idea of buying produce and clothing at the same store. During my final visit to this location, I was using the escalator to get down to the first floor. About two thirds of the way down, I realized that a homeless woman was standing and blocking the exit of the escalator. Upon a closer look, I realized that she was pissing herself at the bottom of the escalator. I had to step around this woman, mid stream! I was also wearing SHORTS! The splatter of her hot urine splashed on my bare legs... I was mortified to say the least. If you are looking for a similar experience, Fred Meyer is the place for you! read more

We called in and they said they were open until 3pm. We got there and were in the store with 20 minutes to spare. We went there to purchase a Christmas tree so we can decorate that same day. The door to the outside area where they all were had been locked - 20 min before close. If they say they are open until 3pm, keep everything open until 3pm. It was a wasted trip. Especially with Covid, we try to limit the times we go out. Not only was it a waste of time, we were not able to set up our tree as a family that night after Thanksgiving dinner. Very disappointed. The customer service center said "oh, they must have closed early" and refused to help in any way. Some customer service. Two thumbs down on this one. It's a Fred Meyer, so you've got your clothing, electronics, housewares, garden/tool stuff and it has a grocery store. Prices seem reasonable, as would be expected. Although I was actually surprised at the prices in the electronics section, which seemed less overpriced than most non-online (physical) stores these days. The selection of clothing seemed somehow more limited, although I haven't been to another Fred Meyer in years, so maybe I'm misremembering. Frey Meyer has a little of everything going on. The things I get the best deals on here are the cleaning supplies - they've got a big selection and the prices are lower than a regular grocery store. They have a great selection of makeup and toiletries as well - again larger than a normal drugstore and prcies tend to be lower as well. The grocery section is ok - the fresh produce area seems small. The lower floor also has housewares and decorating items, as well as tools and such. I've had good luck finding little things like switch plates and screws. If you have more involved hardware needs though I'd suggest Tweedy & Pop's Ace Hardware across the street. The upper level has clothes and shoes. The clothing selection is on par with Target and sometimes you can score a deal. I got a few long sleeved Tshirts for $6/each a while back. The shoes and purses I have not had great experiences - I have a pair of shoes that are cute and very comfortable, but they are ripping at the upper seams after only a year. I got a small purse here and the strap broke after a couple of uses, so I'd not recommend those. Quality is not there. This location is usually pretty busy but it you go towards the back of the lower parking lot there are almost always spots. They have an upper parking lot as well in the back. read more

I was happy to find that this Fred Meyer wasn't 'too' far from my place as the one by my place doesn't have food. I've never really hung out in Lake City and now I can see why. The neighborhood was a bit hectic & made me feel a little unsafe. The parking lot was very busy & I had to park a ways out just to get a spot. As I walked towards the door, several guys were just hanging out & aggressively talking to each other and to me. I entered and was tempted by the fried chicken (who doesn't? one of my fave foods).. And they were sold out. It was 5pm. This should be their busiest time to make sure they have plenty cooking & ready to go. They told me to come back in 10 mins. I went and grabbed the few items I needed and left without because I couldn't wait. The entrance to get back to I-5 is quite difficult and it loops you around Lake City Way a bit. Being a newbie I will have to admit that my expectations were a bit high. I mean I didn't really know the supermarket ranks here so I had come from Kroger Marketplace and Super Walmart. Howeverrrrrr ... Some of the items in this store are super pricey without any real reason to be. The entrance is a hot mess ( you don't know if you're comin or goin. The produce isle is confusing as all hell and at first site gives the appearance that some items are only available in organic. I also hear that this site has been renovated but as someone new to the are .. I would have NEVER guessed it. Let me count thy ways: 1) AWESOME bulk food section with raw cashes, create-your-own-peanut butter, and flour 2) SUPER organic / healthy food section 3) DECENT produce for better prices than its competitors 4) LOTS of parking 5) CONVENIENT for a Maple Leaf resident like me to get to 6) Grocery store + department store, so if I also need office supplies, socks, dish towels, etc., I can come here. 7) I find the checkers to be among the more friendly here 8) Unlike Safeway, they usually have enough checkout lines open so the line doesn't extend out the door A few cons that I feel like I should address: 1) They need to get Field Roast in their "veggie" options. That's the only thing I have to go to Safeway for 2) Produce can be a miss sometimes - we've had a few rotten avocados 3) Don't open until 7, which is probably fine for most people, but I like to get shopping done early! I moved to Seattle several years ago, and at first I was like "Where are all the Wal-Marts at" because I was an Americorps, and I needed some good bargains. Once I discovered Fred Meyer, my life changed for the better. They've got food and clothes and chains for your tires. They carry Under Armour clothing, and sometimes they have great items. Sometimes I end up wandering around Fred Meyer for more than an hour, and it's often because there is just too much to look at. Most of my impulse buys in life have been at Fred Meyer. I started working on lake city wy NE very recently and I love Fred Meyers breakfast bake so I was excited to continue my renton routine of having a bite before starting work. I went as far as to ask 3 of the deli employees to make it because once I know it's always in stock I will have breakfast 5 days a week sometimes 6 and yesterday was the 3rd time ive gone there and they didn't make it. I live near by and have been walking here to shop for food and drinks for over two years. Recently I went to purchase some beer and had my ID closely inspected because something seemed "weird". I waited five minutes or so as the clerk had to have a higher up inspect it as well resulting in "Honestly, I have no idea". I've had the same ID for five years. The grocery prices here are good. Last week they were selling bottles of Santa Cruz Organic lemonade for $1!!! Those are usually at least $4. There's also often a good selection of day-old bakery items for cheap. Some of the deals here are better than the Grocery Outlet across the street. Fred Meyer also has household items and a large selection of makeup, more than most drugstores. The parking lot is also a great source of entertainment. Last week we saw a possible car theft (woman got into a minivan and drove away with the car alarm going off the entire time) and a couple returning to their car to find that the entire front bumper area had fallen off the car!!! Fred Meyer employees stood around looking bemused throughout these interactions - can't say I blame them. read more

When they ask if you want a paper bag, the alternative is no bag, thanks to Seattle's ban on plastic bags, so be prepared with your own. I had an upsetting interaction with two men who were closing up the store. It was 5 minutes past 11 and I was hoping to check out my groceries.. Here is what could have been said: "I'm so sorry but we aren't able to check out your items, we've already closed the registers." What was said: "Are you a customer?! Oh my god, it's 11 we are closed! I've said it so many times over the speaker." I was honestly shocked by his abrasiveness. Then the second came up and joined in with the same sentiment. As I left I said, "I don't know why you have to be so rude", to which one yelled, "It's 11!" I understand it can be frustrating to have people in an establishment past closing time. I even understand that they weren't able to check out my items. What I don't understand is being so rude about it and doubling up against a customer. That's completely inappropriate in my opinion. Lots of parking, friendly employees and a great selection. This store is two levels with the groceries, electronics and hardware on the bottom level and the nursery, clothes, shoes and toys on the top floor. There is plenty of parking on both levels. My favorite parts are the deli and the natural food section. Oh yes, and the bakery is pretty good, too. One-stop shopping at its finest. read more

You know those times that you go shopping, and you always forget that *one thing*? Fred Meyer does the opposite for me. Those little things I'm always forgetting to buy crop up and slap me in the face with their cheap prices, saying, "Dude! You need pillow cases! Buy me!" I try not to go too often, because I'm pretty sure the magical touch of Fred Meyer has to wear off eventually. The parking lots are large and well-staffed, as evidenced by the countless orange-vested employees milling around during the Christmas Eve rush. One even came to the rescue of an older gentlemen, who failed to guage his parking distance and slammed into an already-parked car. Her patient kindness (while working on Christmas Eve, no less) was exactly what the old man needed. Cheap, cheap cheap!!! (Do I sound like a little bird?) We do a lot of shopping here. Grocery, health and beauty, housewares, shoes, electronics and gifts. There always seems to be a sale or clearance on something that we need and there it is, for 40% off. The associates are helpful if you ask them for something. If you just have a questioning look on your face and have been wandering for 20 minutes, don't expect anyone to say boo to you. I shop here for convenience. The quality of items you find is similar to what you would find at the regular grocery, Target, Wal-Mart or other discount stores, but it's all together in one building. If there are specific grocery items that I'm looking for I go to the QFC or Safeway. If there's something specific that I need for the house or my wardrobe, I go to that store. I FIND things at Fred Meyer, I don't go looking for them. Bottom line: if you need something general and quick, go here. If you need something specific, check the normal spots first. read more

In the 20 years I have been getting prescriptions this is by far the worst pharmacy I have ever encountered. I have been going to this pharmacy for too long considering the amount of trouble and lack of customer care that the staff at this particular Fred Meyers shows its customers. I don't know if its proximity to the city. Or the lack of training these workers have had. But not only can they not fill simple new prescriptions following through with PC doc to get meds covered. To downright aggressive and hostile at times. I have had so many wonderful experiences with so many pharmacists from other Fred Meyers, bartells, Walgreens and top foods that I know what decent customer service is. I expect that staff that work with people with their medical needs should have some basic understanding of how to help the customers. read more

Has the administrative been changed recently? Fred Meyer Lake City Way used to be our favorite branch. It has been downgraded since the remodeling several months ago, customers are less. The locations of the stuff have been different, but that is ok with us, it just takes some time to get use to. We went to the store to do our weekly grocery shopping yesterday (11/27/20), customers were much less, my wife wants to replace the range oven heating elements and the dishes underneath, they were not on the west side of the first floor anymore, we went to the second floor to the hardware department, we couldn't locate them. We were over the upstairs for over 15 minutes, none of the staff presented for questioning, it is the covid time, we didn't want to lift the phone to call.
