Deceptive practices. Was at Freddy's in Tumwater again to check out the sales rack I've been watching for weeks now because they had a shirt on the upto 70% off sale. Well today I decided to ask about the sale price of the shirt but was showed where it was 40% off. I asked the salesperson about the price. I looked at a few of the items on the rack and all items were on sale at 40% to 60% not 70% off not one single item on the rack. Talked with 2 Managers. One agreed with my respective along with the sales girl. Went to other 70% off sale racks in the store and there wasn't 1 item with 70% off. Again 60 to 40% off. What a racket. Watch out for them. Oh by the way did I say I looked at the rack for several weeks. Same clothes there. Nothing for 70% off. read more

I have been treated by staff very rudely. Some have been helpful and polite or they are sooso busy and you ask for help, they tell you they can't help ask somebody! I don't know how they keep their jobs! I stopped shopping there or went to Lacey. My beef now is about their horrible steaks etc in the prime glass case. Their crabby Rib Eye steaks are absolutely the worst I have ever eaten and paid so much for. No one could eat this last bunch. I have cut way back son my shopping and spending there. Kroger continues to randomly select items to increase prices on, I would imagine this is a slow moving item for them and their pricing software selects those items as "revenue generators". Watch your specialty items and products that may be diet specific. No one buys this product because they want to, we have to due to gluten sensitivity. 9.99 for 4 muffins...unbelievable! read more

Definitely one of my favorite grocery stores. I like the app they have. If you are looking for an item and can't find it - you always can look it up there. it will give you the aisle number. Also, the staff is very attentive. Yesterday I was looking for a dairy product and the dairy section is pretty big. I guess I was looking lost - staff member came up to me asking what I was looking for and took me right to the shelf I needed. And it wasn't the first time. Lots of discounts throughout the store. They all work if you have a membership card. Sometimes you can find "double" sales. The store would have a sale and you can use an extra coupon. Make sure to clip the coupon in the app before you go to the register. I usually go to self-checkout. You can run your membership after you scan all the items, but coupons have to be clipped before you do that. Overall a nice and clean store with friendly staff. read more

On the other hand, they have had no bread slicer for at least 4 weeks, their coffee grinder was also broken last time I wanted to buy coffee. Disapppointing. Very under-rated grocery store for the area. Large, clean and very wide selection of produce, drinks, snacks, home goods and even toys. There is even a Zenshi sushi bar with freshly made rolls on request. Checkout is a breeze and I've never waited more than a few minutes to pay and leave. Customer service is no more. Just spent an hour on line and talking to customer service. What was my request??? Change my expiration date on my credit card. Couldn't do it on line or on the phone. That is an hour and a half of my life I won't get back! Other customer service complaints? 1. They charge you for cash back. Only grocery store I know of that does that. So I no longer get cash back. 2. Regardless of how old you are (I'm 68), they rrquire ID to buy alcohol. This is because Fred Meyer/Kroger don't train their staff. It's easy...if they sell alcohol to someone who is under age, give them a warning. If they are caught doing it again. Fire them. If an employee has any doubt that someone is underage, by alk means ask for ID. I can assure you at age 68, there is no doubt I am over 21. I find myself shopping less and less at Fred Meyer. read more

This is the nicest supermarket in the Tumwater area. They sometimes have off season fruit like raspberries and strawberries in the winter and they had fresh ginger, items I couldn't find at Safeway and Walmart. They have a nice cheese department, too. In fact they have everything, which also would explain why their prices are slightly higher, but you pay for the convenience. read more

The only real complaint I have about my beloved Fred Meyer store is ... The bathrooms are ATROCIOUS!! NEVER cleaned throughly. Often out of paper towel, toilet paper and seat protectors. The garbage is over flowing ... funny thing is, the cleaning cart is ALWAYS parked in front of the bathrooms. I think just for show because clearly it's not used often enough! I had a negative experience with a blonde employee with tattoos at Fred Meyer. She was rude, when I asked if I could get cash back at the register and if I get $1's in $10. She cut me off and said she was getting my cash before I could even finish my question. I think employees should try to be nicer to customers, even if they don't like their job. read more

Unimpressed. Every time I go here I am met with aloof and unfriendly employees. I mean, yes, sometimes I get a nice one but the majority of the time I feel like I am a huge burden when I ask a question or am obtaining service at the deli counter or flower center. I like to go here because it is a one stop shopping trip but honestly what good does that do if the employees don't know where anything is or are unwilling to help you? I seem to get checkers who are grumpy and irritable and can't even make the time for small talk. Last trip I asked where the Otter Pops were. No one knew. 1 employee said they were out, one said they were never stocked, one said they were getting more, one employee said they were near the check out stand. I am not kidding. They were not by the checkout stand and I was irritated because that was one of the main reasons I went (wanted to buy for neighborhood kids playing outside). Fast forward to my walk out to the car after purchasing my groceries and what do I find? A box of otter pops in the foyer as you are leaving the store. SMH. Safeway, heck even Winco, does a better job at making customers feel they are appreciated. Fred Meyers acts like it is doing you a favor by letting you shop there. I think management needs to step up their leadership game and get these employees on board with courteous service. I am done shopping there until that happens. read more

Ordered an Epson Ecojet printer online for pickup a few days later (pickup scheduled on 2/3/22). When I was about two minutes away (I live 25 mi. away) and AFTER my scheduled pickup window of an hour started, I got a call that they did not have the printer we bought. Poor customer service. How the holy H can you sell something you don't have, then be so incompetent as to let me know as I'm pulling up to the store that you don't have it. Will never buy anything from these incompetent idiots ever again. Will discourage my friends from buying anything too. read more

I have been placing my pickup order for years now and have rarely had an issue until the big one today. Placed my order yesterday for pickup at 2-3 today. I got the text they were busy and it would be ready 3-4. No big deal. I hear nothing else so my son heads to the store to do our pickup only to get there and be told they can't do our order and they are canceling it. I called the store and they said they are having a system issue. I let them know a little notification would have been nice so people don't waste their gas driving all the way to the store. My son was not helpful with information so I don't know if it was just our order or all orders after a certain time but either way, I am done with Fred Meyer. August 2021 update. Why I keep coming here, I don't know. I needed to go to Fred Meter twice today as they have stuff above and beyond groceries. Both times today, at least 25% of the customers had no mask. Employees walked by them, said nothing. Guess what, they are all WHITE middle age people. White, " it'll never happen to me" privilege. We went to the jewelry dept.. they have more nice jewelry, than most actual jewelry stores! We needed to have a ring sized. Two times now I have used the self checkout and the blonde girl working the self checkout with hideous looking tattoos has given me attitude every time I go through there. All I did was ask if she could use the cordless checkout gun to scan my cases of water beneath my cart and she verbally was abusive and said some horrible things to me. This location used to be great. Now nothing is ever in stock and the employees are as miserable as DMV employees. They are not friendly and don't smile. You can tell they do not enjoy being there. Tried delivery for the first (and last) time. The delivery arrived only a few minutes over the promised time, however we found we had been charged for products not delivered. We asked for no substitutions yet were charged for four, but they weren't in the bag. They also weren't reasonable substitutions for the products we ordered. The substitutions were two bags of chips and two containers of dip, so it looks like the shopper was trying to have us pay for their little party. This is not a service I can trust to use again. I used to love this store. With the new changes I can't find anything and I used the love the nutrition section...so easy. Now it's all integrated with the rest of the store. DO NOT TRUST INSTACART TO DELIVER YOUR FRED MEYER ONLINE ORDER! Trying to self-quarantine during this time of Covid-19, I placed an online order with my local Fred Meyer. Although the website said "free delivery over $35," they added a $10 delivery fee AND a non-negotiable tip for the delivery service. I wasn't pleased but could live with those items; however, the delivery service (INSTACART) delivered my groceries to someone else, who kept them. They texted a photo of the front door with my groceries in front of the door, and it wasn't my front door. I texted that it wasn't my apartment, and a shot of my front door, my street address, and my apartment building, and they failed to respond. When I called Fred Meyer, Nicole told me, "we have nothing to do with the delivery service!" I said, "yes, you do; you selected this service and forced this choice on your customers." She continued to deny it. So I sent an email with my complaint and received a canned "thank you for your email. We will respond within 48 hours." That was 4 days ago. I would rather gouge my eyes out and pour lemon juice in the sockets than use their pickup app again. I let them know that I was "On My Way" at 1:33. I start my 20+ minute drive in. At 1:45, I receive an update saying that my order won't be ready until the 3:00-4:00 slot. I pull up, see the text, and check in anyway, since they had done this "as a mistake" before. No one else was there for about 5 minutes, so I felt confident that they probably weren't that busy. Another car pulls up, gets taken care of immediately, then leaves. Time goes by. I check in again by phone, just to be sure they had me in there system. More time goes by. Two other people pull up. Their groceries get delivered right away. They leave. And another. I call and push numbers to get a human. I said that I checked in a while ago and she says, "Yeah, we're behind, so that's why I sent you the text about the time change." So, I spend entirely too much money at this store. My issue is that service has been lacking, at least towards me. Recently, I visited in the afternoon to buy 2 gift cards. A simple purchase, but there were limited lanes and all of the checkers were working diligently and the shortest line had two people ahead where it was just moving super slow. 2 more women lined up behind me. After some time a manager type person came out and directed the 2 behind me to the other counters they were opening. He completely ignored me. After he walked around again and my line still had not moved, I stopped him to ask why he didn't have me go to the new counter when I'm just standing there. I only have gift cards to purchase. There was no apology or anything and he said he could check me out on self check. I spent over $160 in two minutes and no apology for the poor treatment. I had waited for ten minutes in line. If I could load a visa gift card in self check I would have done it but it's not an option without an actual employee. I am no longer spending my money at Fred Meyer like I used to. I called and talked with someone saying they close at 8 pm for pick up and they didn't have my order ready. I can pick it up anytime tomorrow. In comparison to many other locations (ie; Ballard, Seattle, Burien, Renton, Tacoma), this is the best FM I've stepped foot in. It's super clean, almost new feeling. Everything is neat, well kept, shelves are faced, produce is easy to find and figure out. I finally found a spaghetti squash here! Makes me uber happy. Great prices on whole chickens and roast. Plus, the selection really was amazing. The pricing is mostly the same accross the board seeing as how it's a franchise but the selection and quality here surpasses any other location I've frequented. I truly wish this was my local FM. read more
