I go on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays. Kate, Charlize and Hannah are the bartenders those nights and they make the drinks click as good as the food comes out. Drop in and you'll see why its an under the radar kind of place for the blue collars. Bands are good too on weekends. read more

Came here from San Antonio to celebrate a friend's birthday. We definitely weren't in Kansas anymore- it was quite a haul to get there! Definitely had a great time though, and we'd happily go out there again. Service was as good as any place of this kind. I switched to soda after a while since I was the DD. Don't mind paying for soft drinks but thought it was odd that later in the evening the cup was significantly smaller but we were paying the same? Ordered some sliders and onion rings, and they were delicious. Two bands played that night- Undercover Killas and High n Dry (Def Leppard tribute band). They were both really good! Definitely planning to keep an eye on the Killas' schedule. HnD has a great sound except for their backup singers who need some practice harmonizing. The lead singer sounds great but we were surprised to see him reading the lyrics to some songs. All around, a great night! read more

Iconic Hill country pub. Great dive bar with a back music venue and bands on the weekends. The burgers are great and the beer is cold. Party selection of drinks and an amazing back patio. I love that this spot still has pool tables. Some might not like a smoking inside but there's plenty of space outdoors and there's often music playing. The service is good and the parking is easy. Don't be surprised to see some big pickup trucks outside on the gravel parking lot! read more

Came to Happy Cow to watch one of our fav bands the Dirty River Boys play. I will say the initial reviews of the places kind of had me thinking this bar was going to be filled with cigarette smoke. That was NOT the case! Everything was so clean and did not smell of smoke. Decent priced drinks and the women's restroom has a feature that will crack you up! Go in and press the button on the wall...you will understand when you get there ha the outside patio also is so pretty at night with all the lights and lots of trees. won't hire worthwhile experienced bartenders or staff, leaves much to be desired at a low run, slum of a bar like this. bad service, bad drinks, atmosphere was awful. dirty, smells, not ventilated right. bathrooms were disgusting, sticky, smelled like raw sewage, overflowing trash cans, stained toilets, no paper towels. don't recommend at all. Over all a fun positive experience. I was riding my bike from crowley and stopped here for a break. I am glad I did. TEX was sitting at the bar and started telling me about the Belt Sander races they do here every 3rd Saturday the each month. I informed him I have never aeen anything like that. Well folks, in a friendly "hole in the wall" like this, that comment just wouldn't do for Tex. He brought me out back, handed me a sander, explained how it works, and let drag race s belt sander! After this I had a burger and fries and an ice tea. The burger was spot on! Homemade hole in the wall burger! It's an artery clogger, and by gosh, they are proud of it. Cost is very affordable. Have you seen the movie 'Sweet Home Alabama'? The main character goes to the local bar and runs into her past. It's like that. Without babies in the bar. Pull up a, well worn and pretty torn up, barstool and ask for a menu. I was very pleasantly surprised to find a really great lunch in a full on dive bar. This newish Texas style "hole-in-wall" beer joint also serves greasy hamburger, fries & pizza. Stopped there for lunch on Friday and found 10 people drinking theirs at the bar. I tried the hamburger. The meat was flavored with some kind of marinade or sauce that was too strong. Wouldn't go back for food. And for a beer, I'd rather go 300 yards away to Riley's Tavern, one of the oldest. The hamburger was $4.75 and I've had better for $2.50 at Lily's in Lockhart. read more

CIGARETTE SMOKERS LOCAL DRINKING BAR! This place has its cigarette smoking regulars who sit a the bar, and keep to themselves. If you sit at one if the indoor tables you will leave smelling like a an ashtray, if not noxious. We moved outside. The air was clean, but the mosquitoes were all over us. The bartender pointed to a bucket full of orange cans of mosquito spray. They don't have any servers, only a bartender and a cook. They have signs posted outside that say, "go inside to the bar to order food". They have a dirt parking lot, that's a bummer if you drive a nice, freshly washed car. In the outdoor seating area, there are concrete holes where posts were once imbedded. There is rotted wood with metal rods sticking out. All of this is along side of the bean bag toss area. A hamburger, with added cheese & bacon costs $10. Fries or onion rings cost $2. The beef was perfectly grilled; the onion rings were large and well battered and fried crunchy, not greasy! ...Obviously a local smokers neighborhood drinking bar. read more

Don't waste your time. Rude staff won't acknowledge customers, let alone grab them a beer. The bar was so dirty I wouldn't dare touch the food and I get you're out of the city limits and can smoke inside, but throw a fan in so it's not stagnant. If you want that dive bar feel, go to Riley's down the road. It's less stuffy and the staff is friendly. read more

My wife and I, and another couple, went there seeking a good ol' hamburger, and we weren't disappointed! We all loved our hamburgers, which were plain burgers (nothing fancy), but very well cooked. My french fries were delicious (thicker than pencil fries, lightly crisp on the outside, appropriately soft on the inside...and simply delicious! We will definitely go back there again. read more

The atmosphere is definitely bar, and the only down side is they allow smoking inside. The food was WONDERFUL!! The bartender was very nice and there was plenty of parking but not because it was empty. Prices were great, service was good and the burgers were great! We didn't know it wasn't really a family place but we didn't feel like anyone didn't want us there with our three kids. I come here about once a month, the food is great and so is the service. My parents came to visit and I brought them here, they had a great time at the belt sander races, and then danced all night with the bands. There are some pretty good pool players here as well. read more

I love this place. The hamburger is incredible, beers are cold, and bartenders are hot. The fries are awesome too, they're still potatoes until you order them which is hard to find these days.
