Each time we visit the food is consistent. One of the best buffets and service is always attentive. I have been going here since they started on the Florida Strawberry grounds in a little building. What a truly hidden gem! Hubs and I were in the mood for fried chicken and fried catfish. The reviews and option of both are what drew us to Fred's and I must say... WOW! We went in on a Saturday evening, around an hour before closing and there was still a 10 minute wait. After being seated we were greeted by our server Dustin who explained the menu options. Hubs and I both got the full buffet so we could get a good tasting of everything and boy does Fred's deliver!!! Every item we ate from the true sweet tea to the: fried chicken, fried catfish, baked tilapia, baked chicken, pot roast, pork ribs, pulled pork, collard greens, flat green beans, corn casserole, mashed potatoes w/gravy, broccoli salad, pasta salad, brownie with vanilla ice cream and pecan pie. Sadly they ran out of peach cobbler. :(((( I digress, EVERY single item was spectacular!!! The flavor is a true representation of down home southern comfort food and we left fully satisfied for the price, $36 for two with one sweet tea. Stopped here for lunch while traveling home. What a great find! I'm not much of a buffet person but they have several options for people that do not want unlimited buffet which makes the price reasonable although the unlimited was reasonable too. The food is amazing. Good southern comfort food and the peach cobbler was as good as it gets. Service was great and the restaurant was clean and cozy atmosphere. Came here for breakfast for my first time in a long time and my server was Lyndsay. She was very sweet and polite and very good at explaining the menu and pricing information. She was very tentative as well. The food itself was hot and fresh. For this being a buffet style restaurant it is very clean and the decor is really southern style comfort with a vibrant atmosphere living up the "market" in the name for sure. Didn't eat there. Waited for a few minutes to be seated and no one was there. Asked the cashier and he said the hostess wasn't around. Waited another good 5 mins or so and she didn't show up. Every time I go to this place it just gets better and better. They do a very good job of keeping the buffet full, hot and fresh. I've been there for lunch and dinner multiple times and there really isn't much of a difference in the buffet items besides price. Lunch is about $12 and dinner is $15, what ever time you decide to go this place is worth it. read more

This will never disappoint. Fred's is down-home Southern cooking at it's best. I'm not usually a huge fan of buffets, but the staff keeps it clean and sanitized. So I normally do NOT do buffets, but I will definitely return to Fred's. The food was great and the atmosphere was clean. So nice to not have flies or gnats like every other buffet. Ugh...anyway...My fiancé and I give top ratings to the fried catfish, collard greens, fried green tomatoes, succotash, rolls and the sweet potato soufflé. Mmm mmm good. Idk what the person who gave the bad ratings is talking about as I consider myself a strong empathizer with germaphobes. The bathrooms were very clean. I mention this because that is typically an automatic turn off for me (if a place has dirty a bathroom(s)). The only thing I would say was not great were the desserts. I took my family to Fred's Market and everything was fantastic from our server to the food. We've been many times over the years and the place just gets better and better. The food is always top notch and we always leave with a full stomach and smiles on our face. This place is so delicious everything is definitely homemade u can taste it!! It's amazing fried green tomatoes to die for corn casserole mashed potatoes corn bread n much more. Don't even get me started with the pecan pie! It was the most delicious pecan pie I've ever had in my life!! Where could I start...servers...outstanding and did not hang over you but were always there when you wanted them. Food - Best fried chicken I can remember; awesome fried green tomatoes, corn casserole; baked yam; collards; smoked sausage; catfish gumbo (I was the only one in my party that found the soup - lol); sweet potato casserole WAS DESSERT. I had more and all was great...GREAT. If I had to find something to complain about - and it is hard...the handicap parking is so limited...and the lot so crowded.
