10 out of 10! Fred's was out of this world GREAT! We had a table overlooking the beach on the corner of PCH and Main, best view ever. We were seated quickly and greated with a lovely smile from the hostess. I ordered a carne asada burrito and I was more than pleased with the amount of food I received and the taste was EXCELLENT! What set this visit apart from other places, was our server Reagan B. She was so friendly and attentive...A+ customer service.....now I've been ordering asada burritos for many, many years with no beans, sometimes it comes to me correct, sometimes with beans, but this trip, Reagan specifically checked that there were no beans prior to the food ever making it to our table, that was the first time EVER for me. I finally made it in after years of walking by. Fred's is upstairs and kinda hidden. You can either use the stairs or they have an elevator. It wass busy due to the U.S. Open but the service was great. I loved the outdoor seating. You get a view of the beach, P.C.H. and Main st. I ended up getting the steak nachos. The portion was large. They give you a ton of cheese. Some places skimp. I left with a happy tummy. read more

I've grown to really enjoy this place, even though I wasn't impressed at first. Over the years, the food quality has noticeably improved, which keeps me coming back. One of my favorite parts is the patio seating, it offers a great view of the ocean and captures those classic Main Street beach vibes. When in HB and craving Mexican food we make sure to stop at Fred's. It was a perfect evening with the beautiful sunset view. Hubby had their delicious fish tacos and I tried their new menu item, the Seabass with kale and corn salad. The salad was perfect and I finished every morsel. The Seabass could use more seasoning... maybe a sprinkle of Applewood or Mesquite sea salt but overall cooked well. We stopped in for lunch. It's Friday afternoon but Fred's wasn't busy. We were seated at a table that had been cleared but not wiped off. I sat my purse down in a sticky mess. After the table was cleaned we ordered drinks. I can say this was the worst strawberry margarita I've ever been served. Tasted like barely flavored water. In fact I drank the glass of water instead of the margarita it was that bad. I ordered the rolled taco appetizer. It looked cute in the little plate with little pieces of tiny taquitos in a star shape. Unfortunately the chicken was dry and bland. I tried to like them. I just couldn't. I ate 2 pieces and left the rest. I left hungry and disappointed. The 2 stars are for the server. read more

So I have many mixed feelings about this place first off. I made a reservation when we got there. There was no host no one to greet us and said see yourself most tables that were available were pretty dirty. We wiped it down ourselves and it took about 10 minutes for anyone to kind of come up to us or notice us. That being said once a waitress to come in our food order was put in the food was absolutely incredible. The portions are huge for the price that you are paying you get so much food and it is honestly so delicious and flavorful. Once our waitress did come over, she was super sweet and nice and pretty quick with the service. It's just the kind of vibe you get as soon as you come in feels very unorganized. But staff is amazing. Food is incredible. I think management might just need some tweaking but honestly, the food and service are impeccable. read more

I was pretty disappointed with our experience. Our waitress forgot to bring out our family's sodas until we had to ask again, and when they finally came, my sister's drink was wrong--she ordered a Diet Coke but was given a Dr Pepper. I also ordered a margarita, and it came with Tajín in the glass even though that wasn't mentioned on the menu. It seemed like the rim had been coated with Tajín, but I hadn't requested that, and instead of using a fresh glass, there was still Tajín left inside. On top of that, the margarita wasn't very flavorful and mostly just tasted like straight tequila. The quesadilla was also underwhelming. It was pretty basic and honestly reminded me of a Del Taco quesadilla, especially considering the price. Overall, the service and food didn't live up to my expectations. read more

Lucas, I appreciate you reaching out and showing concerns. I met you personally a few times and know you're a cool guy. Maybe I should've asked for you directly on the spot but was honestly left speechless. Was shaken up by what they did and naturally lost all my appetite. You are doing your job in damage control, so I applaud your efforts. Look, I totally get it. The food in the back during packed times are no different than the process of Chipotle. All precooked in mass amounts and stationed to be served accordingly based on what's being ordered. This is blatantly obvious due to my many visits and a clear hit or miss. If I'm lucky or early, then I'll get served by portions that just came off the grill. If unlucky or late, then I'll receive ones that's been sitting there for too long. Cold, stale, rubbery and precisely why I'm returning tacos almost every other visit. It's like rolling a dice and I'm tired of taking chances. Based on all the money I've spent there repeatedly and consistently, the very least I deserve is for my food to be served consistently as well. I shouldn't have the constant fear or worry about the condition of what's being served to me by now. I hope at the very least, this could be agreed upon. Your kitchen staff took me seriously in the beginning and made things fresh from scratch when I raised concerns upon returning my dish. Now they're treating me like a joke and tried to play me for a fool. Luckily, my instincts kicked in and grew suspicious based on how quickly they brought the redo back out. No way is fresh food cooked that fast from clean scratch, so it was a dead giveaway something was way off. Someone decided there was nothing wrong with the order I returned and gave it back in a new disguise. Such retaliation indicates there's clear and covert hostility in your kitchen staff. It was meant as an insult and apparently, they're tired of me as well. Perhaps it's wise to identify the worker involved to prevent detection of this pattern by others from now on. The great environment your team created has been soured by such reckless conduct and truly intimidating. Naturally, I took this message as a sign to GET OUT. You know how generous I am to always leave nice tips for your staff. I can also get brutally honest if they step out of line. I hope you resolve this issue with your team member effectively. Honestly 5 stars for the views alone! I definitely suggest sitting outside on their patio as you can see the beach, people watch, and watch the sunset at the right time. I wish the chips and salsa were complimentary (as they are at most Mexican cafes) but nonetheless we ordered them to also get the guac. Fantastic chips, salsa, and guac though. My husband and I did the fajitas para dos (for two) and asked for a split of the charbroiled chicken and carne asada. I ordered corn tortillas and my husband ordered flour, but we definitely both received flour. No biggie. I really just love fajitas and they made it just as delicious as I suspected it would be. Just so happy with both the pollo and the carne asada. Was great to split for two! We each also had a marg. I had the skinny pantalones marg and my husband had the K.A. Marg. I get headaches from too much sweet and sour mix so I opted for the skinny pantalones. Perfect balance of agave and lime to tequila. The K.A. Marg was as strong as promised and it was yummy. We were a party of 3 who went to Fred's HB on Monday evening 7/27/26, because we saw this restaurant featured on abc7. Our server was Autumn. Although she was polite & sweet we rarely saw her. We observed other servers offering complimentary chips & salsa to their guests, but our server did not offer us any. The swordfish tacos - which were touted as "award-winning" - never came with any salsa, dressing, or lemon to squeeze on them and they lacked flavor. The corn tortillas fell apart and were soggy within minutes. We needed to drench the tacos in Tapatio hot sauce that was on the table to make up for the lack in flavor. Overall, these were just okay but nothing special. For something to be considered award-winning, you would expect much more. The grilled chicken burrito, a 1lb burrito, was drenched in some red sauce that had a sweet tomato flavor. I learned it was some type of mole sauce. I told Autumn I had food allergies, especially to sugar & she said she would note that. On the menu I did not see anything about the grilled chicken burrito being drenched in sweet red mole sauce. My husband gave me half of his California burrito because I couldn't eat my grilled chicken burrito & he took my grilled chicken burrito. He did not enjoy it either. The red sauce ruined it as it overpowered everything else in the burrito. My husband was disappointed with his Kale Slaw. That slaw had no dressing whatsoever! It was extremely dry & dense. Unaware of the extra cost for sour cream & guacamole on the side, because our server did not inform us, the cost for basically a tablespoon of each - $2.99 for sour cream & $4.50 for guacamole - was ridiculous! The water with lemon that we requested was nasty, it was tap water. The restrooms were not cleaned & there was NO liquid soap to wash my hands. Personally, because of our dissatisfaction, the overall cleanliness of this restaurant was not good, the seat cushions smelled, had a terrible odor to them. Overall, we paid too much money at this restaurant, which included the tip & truly would like my money back. read more

Had dinner at Fred's last night with friends 7/14/26. We had a reservation on open table . I had requested a table with one of the beautiful views (wish was granted !) the greeter was so nice . The food was delicious and so fresh .Everyone was happy with their choices. Chicken Fajitas/ Shrimp Fajitas/ their Special Fred's burger / and assortment of Tuesday Tacos and Guac. Our server Alex /Alejandro was great ! Very friendly and fun and added to a good time ambiance. I had specifically ordered the Chicken Fajitas because your restaurants includes mushrooms with the peppers and onions ( It's kind of an East Coast thing) I told Alex I was a little sad because my fajita only had one mushroom in it. ... he brought me a whole plate of your mushrooms . Let's just start by saying lunch on a Friday afternoon provides a great view on the balcony. It was self seating and plenty of tables to choose from. Our two kids enjoyed the coloring menu. Started off with one of the house special margaritas, which is just like any other magarita. Ordered the Carne Asada Burrito (yes their burritos are one pound) and the flavors mixed well. The service was great Autumn looked like she was the primary server for the deck and did an amazing job! I presume it was the manager but he was seen going around helping out, keeping the place tidy and even did a table touch to check-in to see if any additional drinks were needed. GREAT VIEW, HUGE BURRITOS Friday night, 8 pm. Got a table for 2 in 15 minutes. Got seated outside during a sunset. Our waitress Ashley was very attentive and helped me and my date situated very quickly. We ordered a California burrito, and carne asada wet burrito and shared a Mexican candy/lollipop drink (large) They were massive burritos. Could have made it two meals but why not indulge. The beef used in the burritos were thick tender chunks that got us full immediately. I will say the California burrito is probably a better buy than the carne asada burrito because it comes with guacamole already and a little side salad. I had to pay extra for guacamole for the regular burrito and it came out to the same price. The drink wasn't very strong, but we didn't really expect watermelon liqueur to do anything really. Plus we shared it. But the pairing is a must. You gotta get a drink at Mexican food joint. As a Mexican American, i expected the food to be super bland from a place with the name FREDS. Came in during HH and sat at the bar and ordered 2 drinks and a couple of appetizers. Drinks arrived promptly, but no sign of the food. The bartender circled back with us twice and said she would check on it. She signaled to a male, who I believed to be the manager and he grabbed the ticket and spoke to the kitchen. He returned to us with an apology and said " I will take care of these " I'm thinking it's been 45 minutes and he's going to take them off the bill or let the bartender know.
