I've never needed to have a major appliance repaired, so I thought it would be grossly expensive no matter who I called. Our front load dryer needed a new control panel. I called Brian, and he was very friendly and listened to the problem. Instead of just coming out and running up a bill, he wanted to get me the bottom line price on what it would cost to fix the dryer as opposed to showing up...charging me a service call fee...and then ordering parts...etc. At the end of the day I decided to repair the dryer instead of replace it. Brian was on time and the entire repair was about an hour. He took the time to explain what was going on and never tried to upsell anything. I think that in today's market it can be difficult to find an honest appliance repair company, mechanic, carpenter, etc. It was nice dealing with Brian because you truly get the feeling he is honest and genuine in what he says and does. read more

I needed quick turnaround work for a straightforward repair. Last night a we experienced a power surge and when our oven came back online the analog kitchen timer would not stop beeping. The thing had been on the fritz for a year or two but nothing we could do short of unplugging the entire oven would get it working. I've got a cold and had already been planning to take a sick day today, so I called a bunch of different vendors to see if anyone could make a quick turn around house call. Brian and his son-in-law from Freestate could. Luck was on my side and they were available within a half hour of the call. Have use BRIAN at Free State Appliance for multiple different repairs/replacements. Brian is the BEST! He worked tirelessly to fix my GE double wall oven when the computer panel went haywire! GE stopped making the replacement part for my oven so BRIAN removed the damaged circuit board and found someone to refurbish it within 5 days. Just like that - oven good as new and saved $2000 to replace it! Been working for the past 2 years like a champ since the repair. I am having them replace a 13 year old hot water heater before it fails too! . Brian never tries to upsell and always charges an honest price. He was the only person willing to come out to my house on a Saturday for an unscheduled air conditioning repair--an absolute life saver during the hot Maryland summer. Follow-up to my 1/23/2016 awesome review for Brian Hurley and his crew. Albeit they could not fix my furnace that day because it actually needed to be replaced after checking it out. Brian said he could come out and replace it for me by Monday, two days after the blizzard when most everything was still closed. That is exactly what he did!!! The guys were here at 10am, with milk in hand (because he called me before leaving so see if I needed anything), so thoughtful!!! They were done by about 3:30 and could not be happier!! My A/C system was not blowing cold air during the hottest weeks of May. I contacted Free State after a friend told me he's honest, quick, and does excellent work. I called on a Friday and because of the high heat he came out on Saturday which was his off day, to diagnose the problem. He worked with my home warranty provider so that all the issues were addressed and taken care off. While here he also troubleshooted my garbage disposal, which wasn't functional. I called this company after I experienced a problem with my dryer. I had called a few other companies as well, and this was the only one who called me back promptly and was a to schedule a time to help me that was within a reasonable amount of time. Called Free State Appliance Service in mid-July 2021 to repair a 9-year old Whirlpool dishwasher that wouldn't drain. Bryan came by on Saturday (not during his normal working hours) and diagnosed the problem and gave me options on whether to repair or replace. I elected to repair, After ordering the part needed, Bryan returned and installed the part (motor), and the dishwasher is working like new. The movers apparently dropped our washer. It was so broken we thought our drier was broken as well! Brian advised washing a load in a laundromat and trying the drier again. Turns out he was right and the drier was fine. He could have made up stuff about loose connections from rough handling and charged us a bundle but he didn't. Gave us a receipt saying the frame for the washer was bent and it could not be repaired for our claim. Gave us a line in a washer exactly like ours (well, actually slightly larger capacity) and it's working great. Brain loves military and veterans! He'll be good to you! read more

Brian took our multiple calls and gave us troubleshooting advice - even though we were new customers and it was Easter weekend (and he was having a medical emergency). After following his advice about thawing the freezer and testing the coldness, we called again and asked him to come out. Brian is amazing! He's the BEST! Our AC died on July 3rd, the hottest day of the year so far (it was 91 in my House). Humidity was in the high 80's.
