Came here after a hike nearby. I really enjoyed the Freebridge pizza, it was so good! Definitely recommend that one. They had beer on tap which my friend enjoyed (I got a cider since unfortunately I'm not really a beer person, but the the marionberry one they had was really good). In town for the Columbia Gorge half marathon tomorrow so wanted to find a place for dinner that would be easy on the stomach and tasty. The food and beer meets expectations. We ordered the Greek and classic pizzas plus the bbq chicken. Unfortunately one of the pizzas that came out wasn't one we ordered. They were very kind about it and twenty minutes later the pizza we didn't order returned with toppings of the pizza we did order. Frankly it tasted fine so we ate it but it did give reason to knock down a star of what would be a four star review otherwise. Great pizza! We were intrigued reading that they substitute beer for water when making the dough. I really enjoyed the cashew sauce on my vegan pizza, instead of vegan cheese. It was delicious! I love that the place is a working brewery & in an old building bursting with history, like many others in The Dalles. I'm pregnant so couldn't sample the beers. My husband enjoyed the Dirty IPA. Another little place to try in the Dalles area. An interesting approach to the main area. Great beer, Dirty Juicy and Navigation Impossible. Friendly staff and great service. Made the trip down the Gorge to check out a few new-to-me breweries during the Zwickelmania event last weekend. Freebridge Brewing stuck out my favorite. Building is big, with lots of room to grow, and the little hidden tap room is cozy and cool. The brewer mentioned that they want to focus on German beers, but the tap list seemed to skew mostly to Pales and IPAs the day I was there. All the beers were good, but the few German styles that were on were very good. I'm excited to see what they can do in the future. We'd left and came back after seeing a pizza on our way out. While it wasn't quite as good as it looked, all the food was pretty good. A bit of a journey for me, but if I'm back out that way, I"ll be dropping in again for sure. read more

The husband and I joined my sister and her hubby at Freebridge for dinner and drinks last night and we were not disappointed! We managed to come in on a live music night and it was a perfect setting to eat, drink, and socialize with some of my favorite people. Drinks: My sister and I both got the villies weizenbock, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I ended up finishing hers because she didn't want to dump her precious liquid gold. The hubby and brother in law both had two rounds of the Harvester IPA. It was too bitter for my pallet, but the boys liked it. Food: Hubbs and I got the Cascade Lox and me, not being a huge salmon or pizza fan, had to fight the husband for the last piece. The other two had the PNW Pig pizza. I felt like there was much to be desired. It was pretty bland compared to the pizza heaven I had just consumed. I really can't recommend the Cascade Lox more! Atmosphere and service: We chose to eat in the tasting room because there was a chilly breeze outside. It was cozy and warm. The live acoustic music was amazing and the company couldn't be better. The servers were attentive and friendly and we have no complaints in that department. Overall, we say 4/5 because we dodged a bland bullet when we chose the Cascade Lox over the PNW Pig. read more

In town on business, opted for Freebridge based on Yelp reviews. Drank the Dirty Hazy IPA - overly sweet, no standout hop character, slightly weird flavor. Taste slightly improved with food. One star for the beer. Ate the Freebridge Pizza - in keeping with the IPA, the beer cheese sauce was sweet and tasted a little weird. Same for the crust. The other toppings were bland - don't often encounter bland sausage, perhaps too much competition with the sweetness of the dough and the cheese sauce. A few of the potato slices on the half i ate weren't cooked all the way through. Presentation of the pizza was nice but I'd rather have had a better tasting pizza. 0 stars for the pizza. The server was super friendly and responsive to requests. She gained Freebridge a star. read more

Second visit here, one year between visits. Still a solid stop, but not one of our overall favorites either. Food was really good, beer just ok, service was great considering I feel they are slim on staff. The staff that is there does an excellent job, but it is obvious they are having trouble keeping up. We had the nachos this visit and the pretzels. The pretzels are a pretty small portion for the price, but very good! We will continue to visit on future trips! read more

We on a trip to Boardman and stopped in The Dalles looking for a place to eat. Everything in the town seemed to be a wine bar or pub. We located this place via Yelp, it seemed to be somewhat kid friendly and inviting. It's a cute little restaurant inside the brewery. We arrived not long before happy hour started. The happy hour prices were almost the same as the regular menu so we just ordered regular items. I had the chicken ranch pizza, it was good. The ingredients tasted fresh and the dough was cooked well. LOTS of cheese, almost too much. I ordered a 10' and was only able to finish the half. Didn't interact much with the staff but they seemed friendly. It took a very long time for our food to arrive, however, and there was only one other table occupied besides us. TL;DR, it's a cute little place to stop, nothing to write home about but if you need something to eat, it'll work. read more

From the outside Freebridge Brewing looked interesting, we walked along the outside and through a brewery to a restaurant that was up some stairs and was told to sit anywhere . There was a football game on with a small crowd of guys watching. We came here because the reviews on the pizza were good and we felt like pizza. I ordered the dragon pizza and exchanged the pepperoni for chicken. I also ordered a kombucha which they had on tap, which was nice. My pizza was ok, it had good flavor and the dough was different, with unusual texture. As I do not drink this review is based purely on the restaurant and food. I would've given four stars for this place but it loses A star because of the service, the server seemed awkward, shy, and not really sure of what she was doing. She came to check on how our food was so quick, without noticing we hadn't had a bite. We overheard her not dealing with a customer on the next table very well, she was ignorant of what a vegan was. Which seems very strange to be working in a restaurant these days and not know that a vegan doesn't eat cheese or fish. If we find our way back at the Dalles we will probably be avoiding the Freebridge brewing company. read more

We waited almost 2 hrs for our food When the food finally came the pizzas were not good (1 was too oily, 1 over cooked, 1 burnt, and 1 was ok) and the beer was just okay. Furthermore, when we asked for extra napkins and plates we never got them. It was also upsetting seeing people, who came after us also ordering pizzas, getting their food before us. There wasn't even a lot of people eating there so this was a really disappointing dinner. Really bad service and I will not be coming back to this place again. Please read the other low reviews I wish we did that instead of just seeing the overall rating. We spent more than $100 and this was not worth the price. They have the potential to be great, but it's clear they haven't paid much attention to past reviews. read more

Same type of food ordered. The server was apologetic and let me know that the kitchen help was very new. The staff I dealt with were nice but made no remedy or offer to appease the situation. Again the beer was good and we ordered 4 personal pizzas and a pulled pork sand. Sand was good, huntsman pizza was good but 3 of the 4 pizzas were not that good. Beer is still good, but we rolled about 6:30 tonight after HS football, looking for a good, adequately quick bite--we didn't get food (a pizza) for an HOUR. We were out of booze and sitting there ostentatiously shoving our glasses around and still no waitress; hubby had to eventually go up to the bar to get drinks and remind the waitress about our food. There was a paint night going on, but that's a management problem--if it's going to be busy, put on more staff (as a former waitress). Too many other places to explore to come back here. read more

We got The Dirty (IPA) & Creamsicle Cider (sounds like it would be weird, but it was good!). We also got the pretzel bites which are made from their spent grains from making beer, they were soooo delicious. We also ordered the Little Italy pizza which was also so yummy. On the whole the visit was pretty disappointing. The entrance could be more clearly marked, and when we walked into the fairly small bar area, no one greeted us or even looked up. There were three bar members, all in front of us but two were determinedly staring at an iPad, and the third was arranging menus. After ordering, she said there was water outside, and we went to go sit out on the tables. There were no cups for the water, we asked at the bar, and they said they'd bring some out. 12 minutes later, on this 90-something degree day, the guy working finally brought some water. He didn't pick up the napkins that were laying on the floor - neither did the other server who walked over them 3 times before grabbing them. The pretzel bites tasted nothing like pretzel bites. They tasted odd, and the cheese dip was some microwaved velveeta that we found some plastic in. Great. The pizza arrived 33 minutes later (yeah, I time these things), and it was good! I was so pleased. There was no Parmesan, but the server who'd brought the pizza said she would bring some. 3 slices of pizza later, I walked back to the bar, the server had completely forgotten, handed me a Parmesan shaker from the row of shakers behind her, and that was it. I'm sorry I asked to pay before we went back out to sit down - I would have left after the "pretzel bites". Never coming here again. read more

I ordered a 13" Freebridge pizza. It was okay and filling, but nothing really stood out. The service was just okay. Our waitress was rather shy. Someone else brought out our pizzas and asked us, "Whose is whose?" Being as we had never been before, we had no idea what our pizzas were going to look like. It would have been more helpful if the server had said, "Who ordered the...?" The person who brought our food out came back while I was still chewing my first bite to ask how everything was. The man at the table next to us was vegan. He asked the server about vegan friendly options on the menu and he eventually settled on one of the only options for a passable lunch. When he asked for mustard, he was told he'd be charged extra. Really? For mustard? Overall, it wasn't terrible but it earns three stars because next time we're passing through we'll try a different place. read more

I love this place as their beer and food, esp. the pizza are on point. Everything is available to go as well as dine in. Great location right in downtown The Dalles, convenient outdoors dining. The only thing I would change is for all staff to have a training on how to properly wear a face mask -- it has to go over your nose too! Otherwise a great experience and we'll be back. read more
