I called Freedom Pools to install a new pump, because George at Alumni Pool Service told me that my filter pump was broken. Drew at Freedom Pools was very courteous, asked for photographs of the equipment, and scheduled someone to come out and take a look at my filter. He even had the technician bring a new pump on the truck so he could install it that day and save me the cost and time of a second call. The technician, Ollie, was very friendly. He took one look at our equipment and told me that the pump wasn't broken at all--there was just a blown fuse. He replaced the fuse--which just took a minute-- and walked me through all of the other equipment. For the very reasonable price of a service call, Freedom Pools solved our problem. I was surprised that Alumni Pools would have told me I needed a new pump, instead of noticing that the problem was simply a blown fuse. On a second note, I apologized to Ollie for the steep stairs to the pool, as our pool is down the hill from our house. George at Alumni Pools, by the way, had told me that he wouldn't do weekly maintenance on our pool because the stairs were too steep and the equipment was too old (our pump and filter are five years old and our pool snake is brand new). It seemed kind of odd that the owner of Alumni Pools would assume that his guys are too lazy or too out of shape to take the stairs. Yes, they're steep, but my son and his friends have been swimming in the pool since they were five, and the stairs have never been a problem. Ollie from Freedom, on the other hand, said that it was no problem at all, that he services a home where there are twice as many stairs, and that many of the pools in my hilly neighborhood involve going up and down stairs. There is a huge difference between a good pool service and a bad pool service--Freedom Pools is exemplary. Any time I need any new equipment or equipment repairs in the future, this will be my go-to. read more

I had Drew from Freedom Pools install a new variable speed pool pump that I purchased the other day. He knew that my older controller would not be able to control the variable speeds on my pump, so he said there were two options: get an upgrade kit for the controller so it can control the speeds of the pump, or for now just installing the pump with using existing controller with pump and then changing the pump speed manually when running the spa. I appreciated his honesty by offering me those options instead of just offering me the controller upgrade option. I confirmed he was in fact correct with his suggestion on a controller upgrade to be able to control variable speed pumps. His quote was very reasonable and I was even able to use a Yelp deal to get an even better price on the install. He had the new pump up and running in a couple hours and he clearly explained how to use the new pump and it's features, and he answered any other technical pool questions I had. Another pool company came before Freedom and suggested another model which was not the best model for my pool after my intensive online research and the owner couldn't give me an itemized quote. We called Freedom when our old fixed-speed pump died. Drew was very accommodating of my weird work schedule and was able to give us an estimate soon after. I thought the price was fair, though if you don't know what Title 20 is, you may be in for a shock if this happens to you. Installer was on time, did a nice job as far as I can tell, and I appreciate the time he spent explaining how this kind of pump works. So when I got the filter I replaced it myself on a saturday without waiting for next friday service. Unfortunately, I forgot to cancel the appt with Freedom Pool. Drew had me send him a photo via SMS and asked me a few questions then suggested a quick test and we together determined a chemistry imbalance. I've used them for the past two years, first installing a new IAqualink system so I can control my pool from my iPhone, then to replace my salt generator and then to install new led pool lights. We just finished replastering our pool and had Freedom Pool Services replace most of the again equipment including filters, pumps, chlorinator, valves, lights, and the control computer. Drew was a pleasure to work with when planning out all the equipment and Alen did an amazing job installing it all. They followed through by fixing a leak caused by a faulty O-ring in one of the new valves, and Alen even stuck around to fix a cable in the heater (our old heater) which looked like a small animal chewed through one of the wires. Alen set up the wireless control and got it working on our computer and my cell phone. These guys are honest, hard-working, and very professional. I am writing this update because these guys truly changed my mind. The business owner Andrew (Drew) took my earlier comments seriously and after a few followups with me, asked if he could regain my trust and give them a chance to prove to me that what happened was truly an anomaly and not indicative of how they conduct business. Since I also have my own business, I could appreciate his concern that he had a customer not at all happy and he wanted to make it right. He set up a meeting with one of his best technicians to come evaluate an ongoing issue I been having. After tow visits he had identified the issue and had it fixed. I decided to have them also start a weekly service which Andrew quoted fairly and fix a broken item in my filter that was hard to source. Both have been going great since we started a few months back and were enjoying the first pool season in a few years with crystal clear water and NOT having to spend my time fighting the chemical balances and algae that had been growing just a few days after I sweep the pool myself before. Had our pool automation re-set-up. Freedom also made a pass through all our equipment, cleaning filters, new o-rings where needed and lubed up where the sweep attaches to the wall (who even knew that needed lubed, but now the quick attach/detach works MUCH better. Pleased with overall service and would use them again. Freedom Pool Services has now been back for in unrelated problem and replaced my sweet booster pump and some of the wireless pieces on my pool automation. Both seem to have gone well.
