Previously over the years we had Pleasant and yummy experiences here. This time we stopped on our way south and were disappointed. We were ignored with getting a table. The restaurant is in need of a fresh coat of paint and new flooring. My "in-house roasted turkey" sandwich was okay, the fruit salad that came with it had rotten fruit and was not edible. My lunch mate ordered the Cobb salad that arrived with rotten avocado and old lettuce. Too bad, we hope it was just an unusual occurrence due to shift change. read more

We absolutely enjoyed non-GMO flavored pancakes with blueberries over the top. Wow!! The biscuits tasted amazing and felt they were made from scratch. I recently moved to Freeport and wanted to try out the closest breakfast place. I can't talk about the food because I walked out. There were three waitresses and only 6 tables being served and about 6 empty tables. I waited 10 minutes as the waitresses walk by several times without saying a word. I would have happily waited longer if one of them showed any concern about how long this was taking. I will give this place one more try before I write it off for good read more

We just left this cafe and I apologized to my husband bc I can't stop saying how good my bfast was at this cafe. The line was long (a good sign ) but we were seated right away. Our waitress was excellent, as was the service. I ordered the eggs benedict and just had to have a Blueberry pancake (only charged me $1.99). The eggs benedict actually had a thick piece of ham and everything about it was outstanding. I was glad I got the Blueberry pancake bc that was filled with blueberries and was cooked to perfection. My husband got the "Favorite" with homemade corned beef hash, real potatoes (which also came with mine but I didn't touch), and 2 eggs. When they said homemade they mean it-real potatoes and real corned beef , not canned. From now on when we go to Maine we'll make a point of stopping here. Well worth any line. read more

Good breakfast to start the year. Two eggs over easy, sausage patties, home fries and Texas toast. Really 3 1/2 stars and here's why. Eggs were cooked just right, the sausage seemed pretty standard but the home fries needed seasoning. They were way too plain for my taste. Good toast. Nothing wrong, nothing outstanding but excellent waitress brings this to 4 stars. read more

If you are looking for an amazing classic American style breakfast to fill you up with great service and atmosphere, this is the place for you. Not a single bad thing about this place. I ordered 'The Favorite' with a side of bacon and everything was delicious. I tried my dad's blueberry pancakes which he ordered with real maple syrup (obviously) and it was giant and great. The blueberries here are real, wild and amazing. The blueberry muffin was also outstanding with those blueberries. 10/10 would come back and recommend. read more

This little eatery is what makes stopping at the Freeport best western special. You roll outta bed and make your way to the cafe. The one draw back it's small, but that's the only one. The staff are great treat you like your at your Great Aunt Minnie's house and she's whipping up home style breakfast . When you finished and you always have to clean your plate hope you parked your vehicle on the lower level as you'll have to roll out the door. Home style jams , thick toast steak and eggs cooked to perfection hash browns, English tea or coffee. God I'm getting hungry for a good road trip. Being a maritimer your picking on the chowders , no one makes it like mom or now me but this establishment has it dead on. If there for lunch I'll have seafood or fish chowder . We stopped in for lunch on December 10. Didn't realize it was 20 minutes to closing until after we were seated in the cold dinning area. The soup and the chowder tasted like they came out of a can. My pulled pork sandwich was on a burned bun, there couldn't have been more than a pinkie thickness of pork, the sauce tasted bottled and thinned with vinegar and the small lettuce leaf had sat under the heat lamp so long it was like that sea lettuce you find dried on the beach ... the slice of tomato had cooked thru. My friend's burger was very ho hum. A soda and a tea and a reasonable tip (it wasn't really the witness's fault, was it?) and we were out of there for just over $30. Yikes! I am really sorry to make this report as I have heard that the owners are really nice and contribute to the community in many generous ways. But ... our friends have said, "Why did you go THERE!" and we won't again. read more

I was looking for a decent breakfast. Not fancy like Hot Suppa in Portland, just a regular (for me) diner. I was concerned about going somewhere in a touristy location and my concerns were unfounded. The Freeport Cafe was exactly what I was looking for. They have a pretty good lunch menu, however I just had breakfast. Blueberry pancakes were better than average with real maple syrup (up charge). My friend had lobster Benedict, which looked full of lobster and she said it was great. Good food, decent prices - maybe a little high, nice atmosphere and service. Needed a place for a quick breakfast near Yarmouth and my daughter suggested the Freeport Cafe, which I had passed every day for years on my way to work and the Y but had never tried. Frankly, I always thought of it as kind of a stodgy old place where older folks go to eat bland food (no offence). But we were served quickly, by a friendly and pleasant waitress, and the food was very good. I'd definitely go again, and not wait until I'm older and stodgy! :) read more

We stayed out back for a night and this was easy to walk to, so we gave it a shot for breakfast. At first I thought the prices were high, until the plate came out. You will not go away hungry. Great blueberry pancakes and grilled blueberry muffins. Potato chip chocolate chip cookies are pretty good, too. Benedict was great & runny one morning but overlooked with hard yolks the next, so specify how you like your yolks! Hollandaise was great, though. Best breakfast in Freeport as far as we can tell. We were staying in Freeport and stopped in for breakfast. I had a country breakfast with blueberry pancakes and coffee. My family ordered an omelette, silver dollar pancakes and a scrambled egg breakfast. Everything was delicious. The pancakes were fluffy and perfect with the right amount of blueberries. We occasionally stop here for Sunday breakfast. It's reliable and decent for a good breakfast meal, nothing special. No alcohol for bloodies or mimosas, so plan accordingly. Standard breakfast and lunch fare for a diner, baked goods are pretty tasty. It can get crowded with the church crowd so time your trip appropriately. 10:30 is a good time. Food is typically served quick, so you likely won't have to wait long. Homemade hash is good, but often not as crispy as I would want it. Home fries have an Indian flare to them - jury still out. OJ not fresh. Overall, I'd say it's exactly what you would expect when you pull up in the lot. read more

Unorganized, chaotic, terrible service. We came here on a Saturday morning while visiting from Boston. We waited about 20 minutes to be seated even though there were tons of open tables. When we finally got a table the whole restaurant felt chaotic. Waitresses looked panicked and were running around frantically- although it didn't look overly busy for a Saturday morning. I ordered the Freeport favorite which consisted of eggs, bacon, hash browns, & a buttermilk biscuit. My fiancé ordered the sausage biscuit plate which was great. However, service was incredibly slow (despite all the running around). The waitress brought my meal out and said the biscuit was coming shortly. I absolutely HATE when a restaurant sends out an incomplete meal. So i waited and waited to eat my food as i wanted to enjoy the biscuit with my eggs and bacon but it never came. My food had already gotten cold so I started to eat. Eventually I reminded the waitress who completely forgot my biscuit. She came back 5 minutes later and said they were going to cook it now. At this point I had been done eating for some time already. She brought the biscuit over a few minutes later but I did not enjoy the plain biscuit as I was looking forward to eating it with my eggs/ bacon. Overall, the service here was completely terrible. Solid, hot-off-the-griddle cafe/diner for breakfast. Delicious - blueberry filled pancakes were dense with berries. Breakfast was perfectly made to order and quickly served. Had breakfast on 03/25. I had 2 eggs over medium(ugly burned eggs) bacon and english muffin, husband had 2 scrambled sausage pattys homefries and grilled biscuit. Home fries cold and tasted awful, and a coffee each (coffee was good). The bill came to 17.49 with out a tip. OMG. Couldnt go to Sunrise, they are remodeling. I will skip breakfast before I go back to Freeport Cafe. read more

Came here a few weeks ago with my husband and one year old daughter, I figured I would give it a try since they are always busy, the food has to be good. I couldn't be more wrong. Not only was the food below average, we had the rudest waitress in the history of eating out. When I tried to order my daughters food she yelled and wagged her finger at me, saying she was not done taking my husbands order, It was humiliating, I should have got up and left just then, but I thought I would stay and give her the benefit of the doubt. Then she scoffed at the amount of food I ordered for my daughter, little did she know my husband and I intended on sharing the plate with her, it almost felt like the Marcy's diner story. Our food came not long after, we had ordered scramble eggs with cheese, which was a pile if eggs with a cold piece of cheese on top, the waitress then instructed us to "just mix it in", YUCK. I order the french toast which was obviously not homemade, it tasted like something you would get at a carnival or cafeteria, the eggs were the same, not fresh eggs but the liquid stuff, which also reminding me of cafeteria food. My husband who isn't the pickiest was pretty disgusted with his plate too. Needless to say I will not be going back nor would I recommend this place to anyone. read more
