    Blueberry Pancake

If you're looking for a classic, no-frills breakfast spot, Southgate Family Restaurant is exactly where you want to be. It's cozy, homey, and feels like a true small-town diner. The pancakes are literally as big as your face, the kind of breakfast comfort food that hits just right. The food overall was solid. Simple, hearty, and exactly what you'd expect from a local favorite. Coffee is your standard diner brew (nothing fancy, but it keeps coming), and the service was genuinely amazing, friendly, fast, and welcoming. Just a heads-up: there's not a ton of seating, so if you're visiting during busy season, be prepared for a little wait. Totally worth it, though, for that classic Maine breakfast charm.

I'm surely glad I didn't let this review skip past my attention as it was slowly drowning in my new mid Coast Maine shinnagins. It seems most New England older coastal towns have short cobblestone sidewalks - which are adorable and I wore a smile of happiness from around the corner, under the lifted Impatiens within polar white latticework. To click my heels in that moment like Singing in the Rain (Dick Van Dyke?) Waving to the morning faces drowning in the sun of another summer morning. Eggs Bene brought me but I'm always immediately thinking of Benedict Arnold's story when I hear the name - and he deserved what he got - the homemade Corned Beef hash confirmed my reservation. The yolk broke upon the first light explorotory piercing of the fine thin egg fleas and toasted rye is the preferred transport for me. People here like me, they're engaging and I see the sincerity in they're faces, unlike many of my inland experiences and fool hearted expectations. The javas always tipping above my mug and the smiling faces -- they mean the world to me.

First time going since they moved after the fire. Limited seats. Super cozy inside. Food was great. Staff is very friendly.

Tiny little place that had amazingly good food! I ordered a platter that consisted of blueberry pancakes, eggs, toast, and Canadian bacon (which really looked like deli ham I get at home on southern NJ, but hey, no complaints-it was delicious). Plenty of food for a good price. Our server was very helpful pleasant and the food came out quickly.

Bath must be a per capita breakfast joint leader. This is the sixth place for your early meal that has opened in this increasingly happening town. It is really not new, having moved from southgate across the shipyard, but the new location in town is ideal for breakfast before walking around to shop, explore galleries and bookstores (3!). While smaller, it is very homey and the two sister owners as welcoming and friendly as ever. The food is tasty typical diner fare with daily specials.

What all diners should be: cramped, noisy and with a menu packed with all your standard fare. Irregular hours so check before you go.

I'm a breakfast regular, early mornings with the local fisherman and tradesmen and mid morning with families and other locals. Just order the days special, or hope they've still got haddock chowder and pie with ice cream left (all house made and great). Booths and counter space. Very casual but always clean and bustling. Super friendly (and fast and pro) staff, even if you're from away . Coffee refills at the ready (this isn't Starbucks, don't expect an espresso machine). Off street parking in their lot, open year round. Did I mention the chowder and pie?

The atmosphere was awesome, the food was great, the staff were welcoming, and the decor fit the name! PS The diner was clean!

Both were very pleasant and every time a meal was ready from the kitchen, you could hear them say thank you to the cooking crew. The menu options are pretty standard and the prices are reasonable. Not only is the "standard" menu amazing and varied but there are also always a lot of specials to peruse. The hardest part is deciding what to order. Don't worry: I don't think there's a bad choice. Today I opted for the Monte cristo. Yum!! Perfect blend of sweet and savory. Coffee cup never runs dry - always appreciated. Cash is preferred (and there is an ATM on site) but cards are accepted.
