Best blueberry pancakes, well, anywhere. Seriously. And I look for them everywhere. ask for real maple syrup for a little but more cash. Classic brunch, breakfast and lunch at this traditional New England upscale diner. Friendly service, truly good coffee, pleasant atmosphere at booths or tables inside. but, no outside seating for COVID, so bring your mask and choose a booth. Fresh muffins are excellent, and you can even order them grilled with butter! Everything on the breakfast menu is great, and they will make it exactly how you like it. Haven't been to Freeport Cafe since the Pandemic began, decided to meet up for breakfast with my BF. Light crowd on a Friday AM. Quickly seated by friendly waitstaff. I ordered 2 scrambled eggs, a grilled homemade biscuit, silver dollar chocolate chip pancakes, home fries and coffee. The coffee was hot and fresh, but weak without body. My breakfast arrived ice cold. The eggs were overcooked and rubbery, the home fries greasy. I informed the waitress and reordered, choosing eggs over medium. Round 2 = eggs were cooked well and fresh home fries arrived. The stars of this show were the pancakes and the biscuit, both delicious and on point. Expensive meal @$15. Overall not a good experience. Not likely to return any time soon. read more

We love this breakfast place, true diner feel and the food is great. It's small and can get very busy. With Covid going on, it's a little too busy inside without anyone wearing masks. The food always hits the spot and the servers are always friendly and food is quick. Our most recent trip, we had the Freeport breakfast (eggs,bacon, hash browns & toast) and eggs Benedict. I've been pleasantly surprised by the knowledgeable staff regarding my celiac diagnosis and they make sure my GF toast is cooked separately and my meal is safe. We've always had good meals here, it's one of our favorite spots in the area. read more

I've driven past this cafe for almost 2 years. We stopped in this afternoon for supper. Quaint older style cafe with a newer additional dining room. Menu is typical of a local diner. We went here in a rainy day and enjoyed a much needed hearty breakfast. I ordered the corned beef hash with extra crispy hashbrown patties, a biscuit, and two eggs. My partner ordered the eggs Benny. Our waitress was phenomenal - checking in on us just enough to ensure our mugs were filled with coffee. We also got the muffins grilled and it was delicious. read more

The Freeport and Yarmouth area does not have a lot of breakfast spots. To have the Freeport Cafe be inconsistent with the quality of the food doesn't help the community. I ordered the basic scrambled eggs, home fries an English muffin with a side order of beans. The beans were done well, with good flavor. However, there was something off with the eggs. It seemed like it was an egg mixture which may have been old. The home fries came out of the kitchen cold. The waitress did check back in and offered to bring me eggs made another way. I had eggs over medium and was brought new hot home fries with the eggs done perfectly. I was happy in the end but the kitchen does need to know what is going out the first time since my party had almost finished their meal before mine was brought out correctly. We went here with the family today, ordering the chicken cobb salad, award winning clam chowder, spinach benedict, and grilled haddock sandwich. The restaurant had a nice, sunny aspect, and we were seated immediately in a booth (at 2pm on a Sunday). I was very pleased with my spinach benedict; they provided a nice ratio of hollandaise to egg, and my spinach was noticeably fresh. The home style fries were best mixed in to the other elements of the dish; it seemed they lacked their own flavor. The haddock was grilled really well and was a very meaty portion; the tartar sauce lightened up the flavor well. The side of coleslaw had plenty of mayo. The cobb salad used underripe tomatoes; otherwise, it was a very large portion with plenty of flavors. It's not your typical cobb - there was black olives and mozzarella cheese in the dish. The soup was lapped up completely, served with a side of saltines. No complaints here. Thank you for a lovely afternoon meal, quickly provided by a no-nonsense waitress. read more

This is a hidden gem! Located next to the Freeport Inn, its a small cafe serving amazing breakfast and lunch. We went on a Sunday and were seated right away with coffee. It was cozy and CHEAP! You can get eggs, bacon, potatoes and the best buttermilk biscuit of your life for only $7! Only downside was the waitress was a bit slow with the service when it wasn't too busy. read more

It's a solid American Breakfast. Nothing too out of the ordinary. You have all your breakfast staples on the menu. I was disappointed in a couple of things but it didn't detract from the decent food. When we were next in line to be seated 3 or 4 staff passed us by without even making eye contact and saying 'we'll be right with you' or some other greeting. I like to at least be acknowledged. We were seated after a few minutes and brought some coffee, but it was lukewarm. A word to the server when she came back and it was quickly rectified. This is not "fast food". I repeat, don't stop here if you're "On the Go". The service is rather slow, but friendly (most of the time). I live in Freeport and like to get the occasional "brunch" combo and by that mean, I get a sandwich and someone else gets breakfast. Freeport isn't known for it's brunch "scene" like Portland, so this tends to be our place when we want such things. I am usually happy with my sandwich. I've had the haddock sandwich, which is actually REALLY good, and a chicken ceasar wrap (add some croutons to that thing, it will rock your world), both are tasty and worth the money. I think the sandwich is about 8$, a few dollars cheaper than anything in Portland. Also, I recommend the fresh cut fries with malt vinegar, on the side. Overall, not the best food ever, but also not the worst. This falls somewhere in between and I will continue to eat here because of it. Traditional and simple with very midwestern flavor. read more

Stopped at the Freeport Cafe on our way to the Maine Beer Company on a cold and snowy Sunday morning in March. Nice breakfast spot right off the road. Plenty of parking in their lot. We received friendly service from Erin L. I got the Ultimate Breakfast Sandwich with fried eggs, bacon & cheddar cheese on a toasted jumbo English muffin. It was really good. I substituted fresh fruit for the fried potatoes. My daughter got the Pancake Special which came with berries. She thought the portion was on the smaller side. My son-in-law got a breakfast Sandwich and added a side of hash that he said was very good and did not share. We enjoyed our meal and I have no reason not to return. read more

It was busy like normal. We love breakfast there. We live in town. The last couple of times we have gone has not been a great experience. They sat us and forgot about us. This last time they sat us and forgot about us (Nov. 7th 21). We had our grandchildren with us. They were hungry. People came in after us and they had been served. We waited and alot more people had come in and were served. I finally addressed the up front. They came over and took our order. We had children with us. It wouldn't had been so bad. When they came with our meal. My order was wrong. They read it back to my husband and I when we ordered. I have to say love the food but the last couple of times the sevice was not good at all. It was like they didn't care. We paid for our meal and left. It was also my birthday and my husband knows I love breakfast there. I was very sad about this. Cozy breakfast place. I had the build your own omelet and it was as described, eggs were fluffy! I had tomato spinach and peppers in it. On the side the Millet toast, the only thing I did not really like was their home fries they were a little under cooked to my liking, normally I prefer crispy home fries these were not. The food is good. Seating is chaotic. We've eaten here several times but this morning we had to walk. Our waitress took offense because our 94 year old aunt wasn't with us in line. We tried to explain she couldn't stand that long (long wait) & had to leave. She sat us and spent 30 minutes ignoring us. Waited on and served everyone around us. Not a glass of water. We tried several times to flag her down to talk & she stomped past, nose in air. Pretty blonde with brown eyes who takes offense easily. The young man acting as manager today is wonderful, waited on us yesterday, but is young enough to think we should chase her around a packed restaurant to apologize At this point we'd been there an hour & have faith her professionalism would have her spitting in our food. Her personal pique apparently takes precedence over the owner's reputation & profit. read more

Great lunch here recently with family. Server was prompt, courteous and knowledgeable, I think it was Luke. Our group ordered crab cakes, lobster roll, hand made chips, giant cinnamon roll, and all were delicious. I asked for lobster Caesar wrap and it was prepared for me even though it wasn't a menu choice. Blueberry cobbler with vanilla ice cream topped us off, fab! We will be back! read more

If you want some good ole Down East homestyle cooking give Freeport Cafe a try. Everything I have ordered there has been great. The omlets, pancakes, potatoes and burgers are mouth watering good. The lunch menu has a great haddock fish sandwich. That and hamburger are my favorites for lunch - mostly the haddock. It is a popular place and sometimes it may get a little crowded but the service is quick and friendly. Apparently has many local folks eating there as I hear lots of conversation between customers and the staff. You can look directly into the kitchen and watch the preparation. There is adequate parking in front of the cafe. Also, has a major chain hotel next door. Go hungry and enjoy one of the best places in the Yarmouth/Freeport Maine area. read more

I love the staff and I used to go at least once every week. Why I stopped going - after a hot day with no air conditioning (now fixed), the lack of air combined with just good (not great) food, led me to look for and find another weekend breakfast spot and started going there instead. But I came back - After about a year away, I recently returned and found a very busy cafe. There was one improvement on the food - the homefries. They were horrible before, and many plates went back to the dishwasher with the homefries still on them. But the homefries were over-spiced with salt and pepper. If I wanted to over-spice them, the shakers are right there on the table. Crowded - The line to wait for a table sometimes gets long and the space is not well managed. The line interferes with the servers and patrons trying to leave. Adding an extra table to seat more people was a step backwards. The congestion between people waiting in line and the servers got worse, slowing the service. Food - The food is good. The selection is broad and it's tough to mess up pancakes and breakfast meats and eggs. read more
