This little cafe is so lovely. I've been to the location off Faraday a few times and was pleased to see they've expanded to another, bigger location. The atmosphere inside is very pleasant - a perfect place to have a bite, drink a cup of coffee and read a book which is exactly what I did! I got the tuna sandwich and it was so delicious! A generous portion with beautifully balanced flavor - they clearly use fresh and quality ingredients. I also had a cup of regular black drip coffee which can generally be underwhelming but this cup was strong and flavorful just the way I like it. I would definitely come back for lunch and would love to try it out for breakfast! Or maybe even just come by to work on my laptop and enjoy a cup of coffee. read more

The people that work in this café are rude and inconsiderate. We were very excited when this café opened because we love crepes. Yesterday was the third time we've gone there and been refused service because they had closed the kitchen. My son is five years old and was excited about his crêpe, we looked up the time that they closed and went in 1hr before the time they had posted for when they would close. The doors were still open with customers inside and the crepe machine was still fully set up but they refused a service and commenced to take the machine down while we were still in the store. My son started to cry and then when we asked to use the bathroom they pretended not to understand what we were after. If this were the first time we would have assumed it was just a bad day but this was the third time with virtually the same experience. We will never go back. I bought a crepe machine on Amazon and will be making them at home going forward. Don't waste your time with this place. read more

Such a cute bakery! Coffee was perfect, baked goods were too cute! The lady behind the counter was great! I picked this place to have a meeting. They have plenty of seating outdoors. I went last week to coffee, was good, ordered a crescent that took 45 minutes to get, the server was not nice about it. The crescent was very good, not the one ordered but better... I tried it again today. My friend's crepe was 5 stars. My sandwich was not okay, La Fromage cheese, I added prosciutto paid extra. The menu said all sandwiches have greens mine had nothing, cheese meat no greens, or any sauce/ moisture. The menu said salad or chips they just gave me chips. I didn't finish it. Tried bulletproof coffee here for the 1st time and it was amazing!! Every time I request almond milk in my coffee at other coffee shops it just doesn't taste right. This comes with almond milk and was ON POINT!!! Party of 3, 2 had savory crepes (jambon and ???), my daughter had a Nutella crepe and a Madeline cookie. We were on vacation in Carlsbad and found this place while driving into Carlsbad Village. The food was amazing that we went there 2 days in a row for breakfast! Everything we ordered was delicious - quiche, breakfast croissant, le parme sandwich, lemon crepe, and the lavender latte. The staff was so friendly. The quality of the ingredients was great. One star for the food, the rest is BAD customer service we experienced today when we came in. Two young ladies were running the front. As all as we walked in, I felt that it wasn't going to be a good experience. They weren't friendly at all. They were just waiting to be told on what we want to order. Their facial expressions was very obvious that they felt somewhat annoyed of us no knowing what to order. It was our first time there and we had 4 kids that wanted something simple to order. When we got our food, it was actually pretty good. Simple customer service experience down to just basic- to greet, smile, and conversation would do a lot better for this business. French Corner is a nice treat to The Island in Carlsbad. My La Caprese Crepe was delicious, Praline hot coffee was good and banana bread too. I shared banana bread with co-workers and it was gone in a second, must've been good very clean place, owners were speaking French which was music to my ears. The reason this place didn't get 5 starts is because employee didn't match the place, the more welcoming and nicer place, the more disconnected and evasive employee was. Kind of quick short answers to my questions about food and drinks, and after I finished signing for my order I was waiting for her to ask me if I wanted my receipt printed, emailed or both? Since that was the screen she had in front of her, however she just talking to the person behind me and never gave me my receipt. Place was not busy, was just me and that other person. Not sure that business can skip giving receipts to customers. But when what seemed like the owner lady brought me my order, she was so sweet, she handed my order to me, made eye contact, asked if I needed any utensils or anything else and wish me "Bon appetit" as I left. There was one girl with short hair that was clearly irritated in her responses which is not how you should treat customers who are giving you THEIR business. Went in and tried to order a sandwich for lunch. This place doesn't offer good customer flow or a semblance of a line which is very confusing for customers trying to order. On top of that when I asked if I could add a slice of tomato on my sandwich they wanted an extra dollar. For a tomato slice? Obviously this place doesn't have the customer in mind. Worst customer support experience, overpriced and long wait. I ordered an Americano and was told it was $2.75 and came with 2 shots. I said great, ordered it and paid. The blonde cashier came back and said, I have to charge you more because it only comes with one shot. I said, that's not ok to charge me and then come back and say you have to charge me more. I gave her the money anyway. She said, "It's not my fault, I'm only here one day per week because they have several locations. And their prices vary." I told her I would not be coming back and her response was "That's ok. We don't need your business. " It then took 20 minutes to get my drink. I paid $3.75 for two shots of espresso in water. Not worth it at all. Don't go there. Better off going to Starbucks nearby. read more

The food was good, the customer service was POOR. I ordered breakfast and two coffees and a pastry, for my husband and myself, the bill was more than $44 . The counter attendant asked if we would like room in our coffee, I said "we only need one with room", the other without. I had asked for milk, but the attendant said they only have cream on the counter. I do not care for cream, so I asked for a splash of "MILK". I was told there is an additional charge for the milk. I was a bit confused, in the past there was never any problem getting a splash of milk for my coffee, in addition I was not asking for a cup of milk. The counter attendant said they now have to charge for milk and it is $1.00. I find this additional charge to be excessive and poor customer service. Needless to say we won't be back. I hope they find a way to give good customer service. Poor judgement= Poor customer service. read more

We come to Carlsbad for our yearly vacation and we were happy to see the French Corner cafe. We stopped in for something sweet and we were very happy. Everything is made there and is very high quality and fresh. We had a chocolate cookie that was beyond delicious! They are baked perfectly, moist, incredibly flavorful with chocolate chips that were delicious and generous. The Madeline cookie was melt in your mouth delicious. Flavors are perfect. The food is great and the employees who help are good, but not sure if it was the manager or the store owner but she was yelling at her cook Jose that he can't be busy and that he should regardless of what he is doing say yes to her. Then she told one of her employees to go make her another coffee because it was too watered down and that she make her a new one while she was on the phone. You could just see the discomfort in the employees face by being condensed by her superior. All of this yelling and occurring while there's customers around and we all looked at each other like is this really happening in front of us?! It's ashamed that people in high positions mistreat their title and that's no way to be a leader. I'm a people person and everyone should be treated fairly and the lack of respect that the woman exemplified was just Appalling. As much as the food there is good I won't be going back because it ruins the experience when you are enjoying your breakfast and having to deal with a manager that's degrading her employees SHAME ON HER. read more

My family and I absolutely love the French Corner and we're so happy they've opened at a new location! Everything is made by hand and with great care and always super fresh (serious attention to detail). A few must haves for us: the egg breakfast sandwich, stuffed tomatoes, crepes (all are amazing), Niçoise salad, almond croissant, macaroons, and espresso drinks. Love their new spot at The Island - lovely outdoor space to enjoy a leisurely breakfast or lunch but also super quick and easy to get in and out quickly. We will be back very soon :) read more

This is a nice looking place but the service is absolutely aweful!!! We ordered 2 large capacinos and a croissant breakfast sandwich. The coffee took 10 min and we said we were dining in the restaurant and she served us in to go not cups!!! Also served us the small size, we tried to let hem know and my husband just grabbed two cups and we made due with that. The three young gals working were clueless and had no car about the bad service or timing for any of the customers. They were like zombies!!!! Our croissant breakfast sandwich took 30 minutes... and when it was delivered the gal working said they do $1 coffee refills bit they were not available to even serve us!!! This pace is really bad and their young staff is completely inept!!!! This was not only a bad experie de for us but everyone there! TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE SERVICE at CARLSBAD LOCATION!!! I use to go to this place all the time before the French corner opened and LOVED it. I thought maybe since the coffee shop before was so good I'd give this one a try to. This morning my mom and I went and got coffees and a crepe to go so that we could go walk along the beach and drink our coffees. When we walked back up from the beach my mom had to use the restroom pretty badly so we decided to stop back at the coffee shop since it was the first place we were by. We walk over to the bathroom door and from across the place (I'm assuming owner or manager, taller older lady in all black) YELLS "customers only" keep in mind we were just there an hour earlier. Not a hello or welcome in she just yells customers only. Also there was only like 2 people in the whole place, she had no reason to yell. What if we hadn't bought something earlier and had to use the bathroom before we ordered? There was a younger girl with blonde hair working who was super sweet and told the lady we had just bought something (like twice) and she still didn't even care to apologize. The younger girl did apologize and opened the door. All I could think of was that this lady must've been desperate for a customer I RARELY write reviews so this says a lot that I still can't get over it hours later.
