The pastries were phenomenal, but the service and wait time for crepes and sandwiches were in excess of 55 min. To wait for a crepe that long is a bit excessive. Additionally there was no warning that it would take just under an hour for a crepe. We would have ordered something different, or moved on. Two crepe makers where they are making eggs and French toast on seems extremely inefficient. I'd suggest a flat top griddle and dedicate crepe makers specifically to crepes. It would likely speed up the process significantly. Just my two cents. We didn't get a refund, but left without getting our food. Didn't realize it was going to be such a long ordeal. Staff didn't have much to say other than "sorry your order is going to be ready in 10-15 at least". That was at the 55-min Mark. read more

Totally agree with the rude staff comment, almost like you are annoying to them if you enter the shop an hour before their closing time. I mean it's not 10 mins before close, it's a full hour before. Waited in line for 30 minutes only to be told (after placing my order and having paid for it) that it could be up to one hour until our food would be ready because, "Everything is made fresh." Needless to say I asked for my money back and moved on. At the very least that could have put a sign up at the entrance and/or made announcements stating there was a delay. Don't bother. I've never liked the check out machines that require to enter a tip. During the pandemic I shouldn't have to touch anything but no way around it. All the locals know about this place as you can see how busy the place is. The price point is a little high but don't let that stop you from trying this one out. I've been slowly making my way through the sandwich board, even though there are pastries and breakfast and many other delicious looking things. Coming at noon is a bit of a gamble, as The Island gets very busy. Still, I find the wait here a good deal less than average. Back to the sandwiches. Something I noticed right away are the baguettes. I'm 95% sure these come from Prager Bros bakery nearby, which, has excellent bread, with the baguettes made fresh daily. Being asked for cold or panini press I think the flavor comes alive through heat. Each sandwich comes with a bag of chips. Greasy, lays chips that don't seem to fit the style of the French Corner. Reading other reviews has encouraged me to return and try some coffees and sweets. read more

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! We went there today and sat outside. We went inside to ask for a menu, but they didn't have one, just the one on the wall. So we looked at the pics they had on yelp, we sat there for probably 10 min deciding if there was anything that we would like. But since we were pretty hungry and they only offer breakfast/lunch items we decided to go somewhere else. Once we got up the owner of this place chased out of the door and started YELLING at us for not placing an order!!!! So if you do deicide to eat there, make sure you stand on the sidewalk and do not sit down(!) while looking at their yelp, otherwise you are obligated to order there!! Just to be clear there were plenty of empty tables, so it is not like someone was waiting for our table. We went there a few weeks ago and ordered some coffees and pastries to go. The coffee was so so, but the pastries were pretty good. Today after we decided to go somewhere else we were thinking about coming here some other time to get breakfast and coffee, but after today we will definitely never come back!! And we'll be sure to tell our friends about this nasty treatment of their potential customers!! Another thing is there was a HUGE MESS outside, muffin and empty water bottle on the table, a t-shirt drying on one of the umbras (wtf??) and some towels hung on some of the chairs. I was sure it was one of the customers, but then it turned out it was the owner's son who made such a huge mess!! If they are so untidy outside where their customers can see the mess just imagine how their kitchen must look like!!! I'm just very happy and relieved that we didn't order anything there today!! The French Corner is a great place for morning coffee and pastries and also for lunch breaks. I went to explore the area one morning when I was early for work. I had the most pleasant time ordering a croissant and a small coffee. The person working there was very helpful when I was choosing my pastry. I came back later that week for lunch and had the Parme sandwich and salad. Both were so delicious that I came back again (!) with my two coworkers and we all had lunch and enjoyed our break sitting in the comfy chairs near the fountain. I would strongly NOT recommend this place to vegetarians, vegans or anybody with a dietary restriction. Not because they don't have many options in the above cases( their menu is their choice); but because they ended up giving us something which was definitely not vegetarian; they had given us TUNA in the name of the "Le Vegetarian sandwich & the La Vegetarian Crepe". It doesn't get any better than walking into a "little piece of Paris" for lunch! From the moment you walk in you are greeted by smiles and fragrant aromas of true French pastries and savories alike. The food is fresh and made to order and absolutely mouthwatering! I enjoyed reminiscing of my time in Paris while brushing up on my French with the owner Alexandra (spelling?), and enjoyed a Jambon Fromage crêpe, prepared to perfection light and bursting with flavor. I also took a croissant to go, and that didn't disappoint either, buttery flakey and fragrant. I was excited when this place opened up! Not just because it was a new place to try out but also because of their positive reviews on their Encinitas location. They definitely did not disappoint! I've had a number of things from breakfast, to crepes and salads and everything has been delicious. I'm always greeted with a "Bonjour!" and cashiers are always so helpful and friendly. Today, I had their albacore tuna salad. You definitely get your money's worth. I could have easily saved half the salad for dinner but it was just too good. We had driven by this place a few times and it always seemed busy, so we decided to try it for ourselves. It's very cute and clean. I love that you get to watch them making the crepes and omelets right there in front of you. The eggs and fruit were fresh. Their fresh-squeezed orange juice was amazing! Worth the price! We ordered the Croissant Breakfast Sandwich. Amazing! Hot, fresh, delicious! We also tried a slice of the Quiche Lorraine. The crust was super-yummy. It did not have much cheese or ham and the egg had a slightly crumbly texture. Not my favorite, but overall the place was really nice. Staff was efficient and got our meal out fairly quickly for how busy it was. We will definitely be back to get another breakfast sandwich and to try the french toast. Hard to know what to say. The crepes, sandwiches, and baked goods are delicious. But the service is consistently the worst we have ever experienced, every single time. They will not start a phoned in take-out order until you arrive to pick it up, which is problematic. When dining in, either they are understaffed (I get the sense there is an ownership/management issue here), or the baristas will make coffee drinks (mediocre) for their friends before your order even if your order was in first. Sigh. This place could be so good. The almond croissant is dreamy and the guy who makes the crepes is the best. But if you want to eat here, get ready to wait. read more

So glad we decided to try this place. This location has turned over quite a bit but French Corner is a keeper! I got the Chicken salad sandwich and my husband got the salami. Both were excellent.
