This place is essentially banh mi sandwich! It tasted great, well my grilled pork one which I know would be fantastic at a Vietnamese sandwich shop. My fiancé on the other hand got meatball, it was not good. I don't recommend it. You can't go wrong with grilled beef, chicken or pork. We enjoyed the French breads. I also got iced Vietnamese coffee, amazing! Very strong and nice. The place is very casual and good service. The guy was nice and attentive. Had chemo treatments and needed something quick, portable and filling for after my treatment started. Found this gem just minuteminutes away from the medical center hub and a great find. Super nice family. Took my to go order and got my food out quick and bagged fantastically. I read a few reviews here who mentioned soggy sandwich, not in my case. I picked up my food at 1:00pm and by the time they finished all my prep, bloodwork and other items, didn't sit to eat until almost 2 hrs later. French bread was nice and crispy and sandwich held up fantastic. The cream puff was fabulous and my beautiful salad was flavorful and so pretty got a compliment from the nursing staff. My turkey sandwich had 1 piece of thin turkey luncheon meant that was fried on a skillet and put between bread. The microwave cheese was overheated, the "French onion soup" was actually hot and sour "tamarind paste" water with a small, thin slice of bread and a thin cheese square. I couldn't even finish it. It was too bitter to attempt to finish. Jason's Deli has better French onion soup. I took a small bite of the pastry and didn't care for it. I think by this point, I just wanted to pay and leave. I'm almost convinced this restaurant is not owned or managed by the same people as the reviews state because I was less than impressed. read more

We have been eating here for years and love it! When we first started going there, there was a lovely, older couple who cooked and served the meals. The gentleman was so proud of the bread and cream puffs that were especially made for them by a local bakery. If you want a great Bahn mi sandwich, this is your place! Whichever sandwich you choose, the sandwich has a lovely mayonnaise, crisp cucumber, cilantro and a delicious marinated carrot and daikon mixture. The sandwich comes with a delicious, delicate onion soup with a small piece of toast and cheese, slightly melted. Fabulous! The finishing touch: a vanilla cream filled cream puff. Unfortunately, last week, this cream puff was dry and not fresh-tasting. We had stopped going because, for a while, after the older couple were probably retired, two young men were working there. They could have been related but clearly, they did not want to be there: they were always in a hurry to take your order and very curt with the customers. We were very uncomfortable with their attitude and decided to just not come back. We were happy to see a more mature and patient, knowledgeable man and woman working there now. Now, we can go back. Trying to find a good breakfast/lunch place during the holidays before New Years and failed after driving to 2 closed restaurants. I decided to call this one before I started driving again, and it was open. For good reason. No regrets on the great find. It is located in The Oaks shopping plaza, relatively easy to find between Fredericksburg road and Wurzbach road, between A&M nails and Smoke N More. It shares the parking lot with the rest of the stores in the plaza but there is usually plenty of parking. Ordered the French Grilled Tuna sandwich w Croissant. Amazing! Came with a wonderfully prepared and presented small salad and a sweet pastry. The croissant is crispy on the outside and warm on the inside. The pastry was a cream puff that was very delicious. Such a good deal with everything included! Not a lot of store does that anymore bc it's usually an added charge! Owner Duc is from Vietnam and has opened for over 30 years (since 1990), extremely friendly and with great customer service. Will definitely come back again when in the area to try out other dishes. Ive been going to this shop for almost 15+ years, but haven't been back in awhile so decided to stop in because I had an appointment the area. Server right off the bat seemed really disinterested and annoyed that my wife and I were even there. This isn't a big deal because I never felt the service was that friendly here , but the sandwiches were favorites of my mom and I. The prices hikes were pretty outrageous even considering inflation. $11 for a hardly filled stale bread sandwich. There is not enough meat or veggies in this sandwich to justify the price of it. It feels like this place has an identity crisis. Is it a bahn mi shop or a sub place? The sandwiches that don't have the pickled bahn mi veggies have the shredded lettuce / tomato combo that you might find at jimmy johns but less of it and not even as good. The value of it looks piss poor in comparison and I'm not even saying jimmy johns is that great either. The bread was so stale and powdery that the roof of my mouth is still sore and cut up since yesterday. I don't know why but the onion soup made my wife and my teeth hurt also. This little hole in the wall is a gem! The interior is very 90s/early 2000s, which as a millennial, feels very nostalgic and comforting. They have a great combo where you order a sandwich and you get a soup and a cream puff dessert. The French onion soup is very tasty and just the right amount. I went here for lunch today and it was so wonderful! There are Vietnamese sandwiches (banh mi) on the menu, which makes sense because there was quite a bit of French influences in Vietnam. In my personal opinion, the detail that stands out the most is their bread! I'm not even a bread person, so that would really tell you how delicious it is. They house-make their French breads. I would actually say it compares well to the california French rolls from Lee's bakery! Soft on the inside and enough crunch on the outside where it doesn't hurt your mouth. I came here for a Banh-Mi sandwich. This is one of my favorite sandwiches and buy them all throughout my travels, and have been to many places in Houston/Austin/Dallas. With that being said, never in my life have I seen a Banh-Mi priced at 8.70. I'd say on average they're generally priced at 4.50-5, sometimes even including your tax. So I thought, wow this must be a really stellar version. Nope, smaller than many I've had previously, meat wasn't even as flavorful, and was very overall unimpressed. I got a club sandwich. Food quality was cheap. The Swiss cheese melted like American which means it's not the greatest quality. The meats were sliced thick and you could tell they were super processed like straight off a Cisco truck. They got my order wrong twice.
