I researched places at the foodhall and this place was mentioned. I went on a Sunday, and since they have BBQ on the weekends that's what I ordered. I asked the person at the counter what is good here and what is recommended. I ordered the single plate which consists of 1/3 lb of pastrami, bread, pickled veggies, and BBQ sauce. The pastrami was alright and I liked the portion size of it. I also got the Mac and Cheese as the side, which I wish had more taste to it.

Their pastrami Reuben is amazing, it competes with the best delicatessen and would probably best several of the NYC scene. The pastrami is so moist and flavorful. Ingredients for their local salads and pickled are so fresh.!

Howdy Child serves the best pastrami in town! This delicious eatery is located inside the Food Hall at Bottling Department, but they also set-up a little pop-up during the farmers market. They are not located where most of the other food vendors are which I think is the main reason why they haven't received a lot of exposure. I was walking by their table and they offered a sample of their brisket. One bite was all I needed to know I had to get one of their pastrami sandwiches. For my first time I decided to go with half of their classic pastrami. The sandwich was absolutely perfection and by far my favorite thing I've tried at the farmers market. The meat was so tender and flavourful. I was blaming myself for not ordering the full size. The staff was also great, and they told me all about how they work with local farmers, not only for their meat but also their produce. It is nice to know a restaurant like theirs is supporting our Texas farmers.

Ordered the "Smoked Chicken Salad". The photo was drastically different than the sandwich in real life (nothing too serious). The chicken was moist, but insanely unseasoned and lacked any dimensional flavor It was good with Texas Pete from the BBQ restaurant nearby. Plus the digital menu at the register says the sandwich is $12, but when ringing us up, it was $12.99 - disappointed predatory pricing. As I bit into the sandwich, I felt something crunchy - out I pulled a piece of foil! [Pictured in the napkin]. My meal did not have any foil whatsoever so it killed my appetite. I spoke to the person who rang me up and another employee offered a refund or to remake it fresh. I declined both since I ate most of the sandwich already, and I didn't want to eat from there again unfortunately. Just needed to mention in case someone swallows it and cuts their throat internally. I would not recommend!

Quick service, friendly staff, and fabulous salad. The perfect amount and a good variety of items. Thank you!

Probably one of the better Reubens I've had, I mean the bread to the cheese to the ratio, super delicious sandwich. Great customer service and they always seem very friendly despite how busy it gets. It's tucked away in a small food court at the Pearl and although it's small and crowded such a cool place to be. The vibes are positive and everyone is there to have a good time. Lots of dogs around and kids. Back to the Reuben, to me it's the best sandwich to get in the entire food court the only thing I'd change and wish they would add is a pickle spear that would just top it off. Please add that to the dish! Thanks for the great eats!

First time trying Howdy out we had a pastrami sandwich that we shared because we didn't know if it was gonna be too large. I could've ate my whole one by myself. It was delicious. It was juicy. It was perfectly toasted. Looking forward to going back again. must try. It's inside the cafeteria at the Pearl.

Came here to grab food before seeing a show at Stable Hall. Heard to get the Pastrami, so went with the loaded Hot Pastrami Sandos with fries. Order did not take long to be ready and enjoyed a nice February night outside.

This was my 2nd time having Howdy child. Both times did not Disappoint at all. It's inside the food court at the Pearl. With so many delicious options to eat I still crave and dream about their Reuben/pastrami sandwich. This time around my husband and I tried half and half of the Reuben pastrami and the pastrami only! I loved both now I have to try something new when I return. I will have to say, the reason I didn't not give it 5 stars is because it doesn't come with any sides. My pointed out that a simple pickle spear would make such a difference and is definitely cost effective! Especially for their sandwich price! I usually get their sweet tea as well and it's also so yummy! Service is prompt despite how busy it gets at this food court. They have a texting system to notify the order is ready. The ambiance here is top notch as well with both indoor and outdoor seating. Very aesthetics pleasing inside the food court and the outdoor is beautiful as well with the Emma hotel as the backdrop with additional seating and shops all around. We opted for outdoor since we had our pup with us and the TX heat was brutal (warning). Overall great experience! I love it here and highly recommend! My family was recently visiting SATX and they enjoyed it here as well. :)

So, when co-workers wanted to go yesterday, I jumped on it. Don't get me wrong. I love the vibe of this place. I LOVE their story. It's very NY/Northeastern deli feel (they're from Pittsburgh, but you get my drift, right!?). No nonsense. Small inside area. No tables inside. Just enough room to look at the menu, order, and go wait outside. I opted for the chicken bacon ranch on hoagie. What came out was a decent size sandwich, but incredibly messy and soggy. There was so much juice/ liquid the sandwich quickly became unmanageable and just disintegrated. Look, if you're going to serve a sandwich that messy, please upgrade your napkins. It was a one bite - two napkin ratio. The sandwich was good, but the mess and difficulty eating it just took away any enjoyment. Additionally, the flies outside rivaled the worst I've experienced. Do you remember the scene in the Lost World, Jurassic Park movie when the hunters found the Rex nest!? Okay, okay, maybe not that bad, but it was a lot. Hang some fly bags or strips or somethin'. Found price to be a little high. By the time I bought chips and a drink, plus tip: $22. Just FYI: my co-worker disagrees. He thought it was the BEST SANDWICH HE'D EVER HAD. So, yes, go give them a try, but bring a beach towel for clean up.

I was able to make my way here on my last day in San Antonio in late March thanks to my flight being delayed and my oh my, I am quite impressed! The older gentleman taking my order at the counter gave me a big smile when I mentioned I heard you have this thing called the serious sandwich here. He told me that they do and then stated "You won't regret ordering it, seriously." Chuckling, I decided on a half order of that along with a side of potato salad and their side of beans. After taking my first bite, I realized the gentleman was right. This is a dope sandwich! Excellent cured meats in the salamar and pair of hams along with the provolone and melted cheddar with the veggies, spices, italian dressing, and mustard. The bread they use holds up well and has a slight crunch to it. If you prefer your bread to have softness to it, you may have to ask if they can substitute a different bread instead of the italian flat bread they use. But I absolutely love this sandwich the way it is! As for the sides, the potato salad has a slight mustard taste and right consistency with a dash of paprika on top; just the way I like it. The beans are charro beans (I think) that are served steaming hot with some pork trimmings mixed in; I may have dipped my sandwich in it a couple times for flavor explosion. What can I say, I'm adventurous! There's some ferrari memorabilia and posters on the right side where some of the high top seating is. As a Ferrari F1 fan, I appreciate them displaying this here along with the track map of the COTA circuit in Austin. The seating area is spread out nicely with plenty of seats/tables and a drink station with some random signs up. All of interest to consumers like us. Definitely recommend coming here for either the serious sandwich or other delicious ones like their meatball sandwich or manhattan. I can't wait to come back and try the other ones but I may just stick with the serious sandwich cause I loved it. SERIOUSLY!

Usually Wagyu is known to be juicy and moist, but this tasted nothing like that caliber. It was disappointing but at least not very pricy. Fries were okay but pretty chopped up and not the style I prefer. Some of the other places looked promising like the ice cream and cafe. The poke/ceviche also sounded good on paper but when we walked by (maybe around 1.5-2 hours before closing), the quality of the raw fish didn't look too great and was a little discolored so we passed.
