We finally made it over here after trying to for about a year. They have just started doing dinner as well as brunch. We arrived at 3:20ish at the very tail end of brunch. Outside looked crowded, sunny and hot. We opted to sit in a half booth in the super roomy and comfortable indoors. Our server was excellent, friendly and helpful, and the service was quick and good. My husband wanted breakfast food and ended up with the crab cake Benedict. Very good homefries, perfectly browned. Crab cake and hollandaise were delicious, and he was a huge fan of the biscuit. I went with the steak tips special. Fantastic and tender steak with perfect texture cheesy grits, but the stars were the grilled peppers. The dish hit every happy note. We decided to do a French toast for dessert. The cornflakes crusted French toast was crispy, sweet, and amazing. My husband ate most of it but not all. I got as much as I could handle. They really have generous portions here. We, of course, got to go for the oldsters. My dad got steak tips, which he loved as much as I did. My mom got the short rib from the dinner menu. She hates grits, but they gladly substituted spinach for them, and she adored it. Said the beef melted in her mouth, and the spinach and Brussels sprouts were cooked and seasoned to perfection. My family and I decided to try French toast bistro for the first time today and were all extremely pleased! They asked us if it was our first time dining with them, and when we said, yes, they had brought their delicious beignets to the table for us since it was our first time. The beignets were absolutely incredible! All of the service from start to finish was very helpful and everyone was great. The food was 10/10! Every single one of us loved our meals. You could taste the freshness and the flavors were so good. My parents had told the waitress that they were ordering some things to split and they had already split it onto two separate plates for them which isn't something I usually see at a restaurant & we were impressed with! I must've said about 2 to 3 times to my family "oh we will absolutely be coming back to this place." Highly recommend! read more

This was my first time dining at French Toast Bistro. A friend suggested that we meet for brunch at this restaurant, and this was a great suggestion. I knew as soon as I drove into the parking lot that the restaurant would be good, as the lot was already jam packed. I arrived at the restaurant around 9:15 AM, and it had just opened at 9:00 AM. There were a number of different entree option for breakfast and brunch food items. I wanted to try the Fried Green Tomatoes (next time). But I ordered the Beignets for appetizers (although it's a dessert, lol), and I ordered the Shrimp and Grits as an entree. The food was really good, and our waiter was really friendly! The food was served quick as well. I enjoyed my experience at the restaurant and would recommend. French Toast Bistro has replaced Scramblers which was a breakfast joint in a corner suite next to OfficeMax. The place closes at 4 pm daily, therefore brunch was the focus of the menu. The top half of the sheet had nearly 20 listings in this category with the remainder of the page being filled out by appetizers, soup, salads, sandwiches, and entrees. I would say there were enough tables to seat around 50 customers. My visit was in the mid-afternoon during their last hour of business. I ordered the one soup on the menu which was a Gumbo containing shrimp, chicken, and sausage. Toasted bread slices were stuffed on top of the gumbo which made the entire cup very filling. If I had known ahead of time, then I would have asked for only the proteins and spicy broth in the serving vessel. I took the other part of my meal to-go which was the Cajun Hash. This was made up of poblano peppers, onions, andouille sausage, two sunny side up eggs, salsa verde, mixed greens, and a biscuit. Interestingly, there were no potatoes included in the hash which I normally think of as a staple ingredient in such a preparation. I guess the biscuit served as the carbohydrate component. The mixed greens made the dish feel like a semi-salad which wasn't a bad thing. I felt the prices were reasonable, and the food was of good quality. French toast, pancakes, or waffles would probably be my choice at a future visit for a meal earlier in the day. read more

Haven't been able to get to this place because it's always packed when pulling up, but today not only did we arrive early but a text snafu and accommodation from the Great Manager... we got in (on Fathers Day!). What's the charm? The total experience. Menu, staff and eclectic atmosphere... French Toast - proports to have that New Orleans-Southern Vibe AND accomplishes it. Ok, I've only visited French Toast Bistro once so this review is based strictly on that visit. Overall, I wasn't impressed and I don't get the hype. I was glad my friend and I didn't have to wait to be seated. Our waitress was fine, but nothing about the experience screamed excitement to me. I ordered the French toast with fruit on it. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but this was just your ordinary French toast with a few berries. I didn't receive enough syrup and for some reason I didn't ask for more. The lack of syrup left be feeling even less satisfied. Meat wasn't included in the steep price and I didn't feel like spending more. My friend got biscuits and gravy and I gave it a try. The gravy was very different than what I'm use to and it didn't have much flavor. My friend was bummed with her meal too. She went back a second time a week later and was disappointed again (she ordered something different). If someone else wanted to go here, I'd give them my opinion and would give it a second chance. I really enjoy going to the French Toast Bistro - Plymouth location, so I was excited to hear about another location opening closer to my home in Canton. Unfortunately, the experience was not as good. The employees were nice, but seemed fairly unprofessional by being too lax in conversation with the customer saying how they "just rolled out of bed". Why are you telling us that? Then our order of baked French toast was wrong. We informed our waiter but ultimately decided to keep it because we were hungry and didn't feel like waiting. Come to find out on the first bite that it was not as good as it appeared. Very bland. I've definitely had better. The shrimp and grits were pretty good, especially the white cheddar grits! Overall, I'll most likely keep my business at the Plymouth location. read more

Delicious, easy free parking, clean, no wait for a table of 4 on a Saturday 11am brunch. This place was renovated since the last restaurant and looks really nice inside! The New Orleans themed murals at the entry were a nice touch. May want to check Waze beforehand as Ford Rd is and will be under construction for awhile. We ordered the chicken and waffles and fried green tomatoes. Both were absolutely delicious! We ordered the $5 side order of beignets, and I didn't realize they came 4 to a plate! The beignets were the highlight of the meal, and while the one with chocolate sauce was scrumptious, the cinnamon sugar was the favorite of the table. Service was very friendly but could've been more attentive with coffee. There has been quite a turnover at this location but I could forally see this restaurant sticking around for awhile, especially with seeving the beignets since that's unique to them (and the brunch competition in Canton is high!). I'm kind of torn on how to rate French toast bistro. It is very good. The crabcakes Benedict was good but after the first couple bites, I was kind of over it. The crabcake itself was delicious and would've made a wonderful appetizer or meal. Its just that particular combination in the Benedict didn't really work for me after a couple bites. I did see people in the restaurant really enjoying it. I also had a few bites of the regular eggs Benedict, and it was also very good and more to my taste. We also brought in a side of the cornflake crusted French toast with berries. That was good too. The only problem with that was that we were not given any syrup so I had to ask for that. It was a little dry and boring before the syrup, but it was fantastic after. The house hash was a little disappointing. Really it was just very thinly sliced fried potatoes. I was told the potato pancake was good, but I didn't try it. I also had a couple sausage links and they were very good. The coffee is very good too. The service was excellent. Our waitress was an absolute delight. The atmosphere is nice. There doesn't really seem to be a real theme to it even though their menu is sort of New Orleans inspired. There are lots of windows, so it's nice and bright on the inside and it appeared to have a beautiful patio for outdoor seating. It was a chilly day so no one was using that. So here's what I'm struggling with on my rating. If you compare this place to a Bob Evans or an IHOP, it's so much better. They're not even in the same league. It's a solid five star when compared to those places. If I compare it to nicer places that do breakfast lunch and even a dinner service but don't specialize in breakfast or brunch, it's a four-star. But there are some really wonderful breakfast and brunch places out there, and French Toast Bistro rightfully should be compared to them in my opinion. So because of that, I'm going to give them a three star rating. That is not to say it wasn't great because it was very very good and I will definitely go back. Take your wallet when you go because it's a little pricey. Three breakfast entrées, a side of sausage, a cup of coffee and a latte was a little over $60 with tip. read more

I have been to the French Toast Bistro in Plymouth as well so this was my first time at the Canton location. My friend and I sat at the bar and our server/bartender Chase was so lovely. The drinks were delicious. Ofc I got another manmosa. One difference I noticed is in Plymouth the man loss comes in a regular cup as if it was a water cup but the man miss here was a bigger sized champagne glass which was nice I liked it kept the aesthetic. One thing I will say is Plymouth had more French toast options. I was a little disappointed that there were only 3 French toast options whereas the other one had a list of variety of flavors. I orders the biscuits and gravy and it came with scrambled eggs and some mixed greens on the side. I never had scrambled eggs on top of biscuits and gravy and the presentation of the gravy was VERY questionable . It reminded me of Puke so much I had to get over the look of it. BUT my food was DELICIOUS the biscuits were soft the gravy was great and the eggs on top was a different but nice touch. My friend ordered some pancakes, French toast bacon and sausage. The bacon was really thick and the French toast was pretty good. I am not a fan of the syrup though but otherwise everything was great. 10/10 Do recommend, I will come visit again if I'm ever out in canton read more

This is a fun and cute spot for casual brunch! The decor inside gives a very typical brunch feel. It is very clean. They had a lot of seating but of course it was a long wait because it was Saturday morning. There's some seating at the front though while you wait. The staff was very nice and helpful with what to choose to eat. The food was really yummy! We had the fried green tomatoes appetizer. It was very crispy and my favorite item. The sauce it comes with was tangy and savory. Then we had one of the French toast options. It was sweet, had fruit on the side and really tasty! Both came out pretty quick. It's a good everyday brunch place with a few great options and a full bar. The menu is pretty good and there hasn't been a miss here so far IMO. French toast, pancakes and salads are plentiful, but other items are a little small given the price point; probably a casualty of shrinkflation. The staff has always been friendly, if not too overwhelmed. It's not a lot of tables in here so I think they may need a few more people to take the load off, or work communally. The French toast allegedly had cream cheese in it but I couldn't tell. It was sort of dry, seems like they made it the day before then microwaved it. My bf had the chicken sandwich and liked it. There was a lot of delicious options, so it was not easy choosing something, I choose the 2-egg brunch option, and I tried the cornflake French toast which had a nice crunch, and delicious taste. I would try a different dish if I went there again, but this place is a gem and worth trying. It's located within a shopping mall with other shopping choices. There's a good amount of space available for parking. The dining area had dim lighting, and cute designs in the layout of it. The food was affordable, and delicious. In total we had the gumbo, chicken and waffle, fried Cajun board, and the lobster omelette. I will start by saying the level of heat for this Cajun bistro was nowhere to be found. The gumbo, Cajun aioli, and chicken and waffle with the hot honey were not spicy (this is coming from someone who doesn't do well with spice to begin with). Just a dash of Frank's to these would have really elevated the food! The lobster omelette tasted slightly muted. Lastly, I would love if the waffle was a little thicker! This places is New Orleans themed and offers a variety of breakfast and brunch items to pick from. I ate here with a party of 3 on a Saturday early afternoon and the restaurant was packed. Our wait was about ~15/20 minutes. The staff was great at giving us both food a drink suggestions. We settled on breakfast and lunch options between the three of us and the food was great. So many things on the menu caught my eye so I definitely wanna go back to try more things. They also offer alcoholic beverages to pick from. We had rounds of different flavors of mimosas. To nobody's surprise, French Toast opened a new location in Canton on Ford Road. Let me tell you, this new location delivered! Good food is good food and French Toast has it in spades. It's hard to find Cajun, let alone good Cajun this far North. One of my favorite dishes is a good bowl of gumbo. It's spicy, the roe is rich and deep in flavor, and the meat is packed and filling. When we went out for brunch, we ended up getting the brisket hash (chef special), cream cheese French toast, and a bowl of gumbo. Everything was great. I plan to make this a regular destination going forward. Try to get their early or put in reservations if you can. This spot is always busy. read more

A very unsuspecting place, but a hidden gem that serves Cajun-Southern style brunch. It was packed on a Monday afternoon at 1:30pm. That's a strong indicator of a popular establishment.
