I'm not gonna hold back on this review, this is probably the worst Frenchy's I've ever been to. I been inside the restaurant 3-4 times and ordered through DoorDash about 2-3 times. To be honest the service is slow and at times they're rude and don't wanna do their job. One of the only positive things I can say is that even though the service is slow, the food comes out hot & fresh. I would hope so since they're not busy. My to go orders are usually the 3 piece campus with either mash potatoes, red beans and rice, collard greens & dirty rice. Or I'll get their 3 piece catfish. Sometimes I'll get the dessert (peach cobbler & sweet potato pie). While the chicken comes out hot & fresh. There is zero seasoning on the chicken itself. Not even a pinch of salt. They rely on the batter for flavor. Don't get me wrong the batter is salty & delicious for my palate but the chicken is so bland. Collard greens are uninspiring & boring but edible. Mash potatoes taste just fine but their gravy adds a layer of flavor. Red beans and rice once again, flavorless & they always give you one measly piece of sausage. Their dirty rice is a little dry but not bad. Now for the catfish I actually enjoy it. The batter is the same as their chicken & the fish itself is moist and juicy. The desserts feel like it's store bought and not made in house but it's bearable. Overall, this location ain't it. It's located next to a gas station & the area itself isn't safe. The inside of the restaurant isn't clean either. Lazy & rude employees don't make it any better. If you want some good Frenchy's go to the one on 3rd ward. I would frequently go there but that's no where close to my house so I have to settle for this location. I hope they make improvements before they shut down. read more

When I lived there I didn't know about Frenchy's and never realized there was this delicious fried chicken just steps away from my doorstep! I came on a Friday night and there was a long line. When I looked upfront, I realized why. There were only two people working there. But they were holding it down!! They were working hard to get everyone's order. I got the two piece dark. It took a little while, but it was worth it! Even though I ordered two, they gave me three - maybe because they were closing soon. The chicken was so hot and crispy and juicy!! And omg the hot-sauce! Visiting from out of town and It's a yes for me! The food was hot and seasoned. I was skeptical about getting the greens, but they were actually pretty good. The chicken wings were the star though. Be aware that this location is in the hood and connected to a gas station/store. No complaints from me though we left before it got dark. The service was fine. They do have tables where you can eat, but it is not a dine in experience. Better to take to go. read more

Thanks to a pair of hungry eyes, I captured the news from Chron.com and verified it on ABC13 website. I love Frenchy's Chicken, it doesn't matter if it was on sale or not. Ever since I discovered it in Sharpstown years ago, I have been watching for the opportunity to stop by. It is kind of out of my way during weekly grocery shopping trips. However, I made it. Location is pretty convenient from the toll road to this restaurant. Just off of Beltway feeder road and Richmond, connected to a gas station shared with Burger King. It's quite alright to order takeout. Closing the dining room is probably the right thing to do with so many transients in the area. I just wish it was a little bit better lit up. The food was not as great as I remembered from other restaurants. What a bummer. I ordered a 4-piece feast without drink. They gave me one of each breast, wing, thing and leg. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY AT THIS LOCATION!!! I cannot express this enough. The service was slow and terrible. About five different customers received their order before I did, even though I placed my order before them. Finally when I received my order, it was short four pieces of chicken and a dessert. The chicken was very dry, tough, and overcooked. I should have known that just by the looks of this location it was not going to be good at all. I called the phone number that was on my receipt and online for this location so I could get a refund for my missing items, but no one was reachable because the call went straight to an operator saying that the phone number was not in service. If you're from Houston then you know about Frenchy's Chicken. For the locations that are still open in Houston, they are the best tasting creole chicken around. Is the locations on Scott still open? Well, if they are not this location gives the same great taste, except for the Frenchy fries. I believe they stopped serving them about 2 years ago but they still fry them fresh for you and sprinkled with the seasoned salt. I love they seasoned fries. Their wings will piss you off because they don't have any meat on them. I usually get the chicken strips because they fry them when ordered. They brought back the gumbo but Ive yet to order a cup. They also fry their fish fresh. I like it All fresh and hot so I usually get either the fish or chicken strips. Their red beans and rice is better than Popeyes in my opinion, you will always have a piece of sausage in your cup. You know what pairs well with their dinners? Fanta soda!!! What y'all know about that Fanta soda??? They also serve deserts, I only get the lemon cake fresh from the freezer. I'm a bit surprised at just how far the apple fell from the tree with this location. I'm a huge fan of the original "awning" location in Third Ward, which is commemorated as part of a large mural on the wall of this location. This one isn't quite up to par with that one. Tucked into the corner of a gas station, and located on the wrong end to be visible from the highway, you either need to know it's there or happen by the sign in order to make a stop here for a meal. It was no surprise that the place was empty while I was there. The server was nice enough, but the price (with tax) on the register didn't make sense based on the price on the menu board, and I had to make her go back and fix it before charging me. The ice tea machine was malfunctioning, which she didn't bother saying anything about until after I filled my drink, took a sip, and nearly spat it out. Then I get a late apology that there's something wrong with the mix. Maybe a sign would help? The chicken strips came out hot and fresh, with a nice breaded seasoning, though the chicken inside was surprisingly dry. I needed every bit of the two barbecue sauces they gave to make it work. I would have needed a third sauce had I not given up and left. The red beans and rice was more soupy liquid than anything else, and spilled everywhere when I pulled off the lid to the container. I was not pleased, and now I have to go dry clean my work pants because of the mess. On the whole, I'm not impressed. I tried placing an order over the phone but no one answered. Tables are put up to accommodate social distancing so most customers wait in their car or stand around awkwardly inside. Though it's more salty than I prefer, it tastes like straight up down home cooking. The chicken pieces are huge. Maybe the biggest pieces I've gotten at any chain chicken joint ever. The chicken portion sizes will not leave you disappointed. Only had the mashed potatoes with the debris gravy (awesome gravy title) but it was good. The not so good : My only disparage is that the breading on the chicken, though be it flavorful..., is just too salty. If the salt was reduced by 50%, it would rock. I've known this place since I was born. This is my hood, raised here. I know the guy who works in the Frenchy's, he owns the establishment . When I was little whenever I went there he would always give me a free large koolaid. I have so much love and appreciation for him and the workers to help make the food. Always nice and welcoming and always has a smile on the face. You can tell the food is made with love like your grandma friend the chicken herself. I've seen some bad reviews talking bad about this place. Just because the location looks bad doesn't mean it is. I've e also seen people say they shorted them on their chicken but, the people who work there are not from America and don't speak perfect English . Yet, they work really hard to serve our people in the community. This location isn't in the best place but is always welcoming and safe. However, today the cook was incredibly rude when I had a small issue with my food. The issue was not even with the cook but with the individual who was preparing my meal.
