I'm not a vegetarian, so I am NOT this place's target audience. If you are a meat eater, you may find that the menu selections aren't all that appetizing for you. I was searching for the least objectionable choice (probably much like vegetarians do at non-vegetarian spots). I ordered the veggie plate. Although nicely presented, it looked a bit sparse. It was actually quite filling. Everything was also very fresh. They have brick oven and make their own pita bread there so I was expecting something special. It wasn't. It wasn't "bad" just not what you'd expect from fresh baked in a brick oven. The atmosphere looks like they were going for a shabby chic ambiance, but it doesn't really live up to that. It's very casual and has a dressed down feel. Service is friendly, self-service, and on the slow side. Fresca isn't bad. It's just not my cup of tea. I think there are lots of people who will find it hits the spot for them. I prefer a bit more in the service and ambiance department; however, the food is fresh, pretty, and tasty. read more

I visited here about a month ago, but it feels like it was just yesterday! I took my vegetarian friend here, I knew there are a variety of vegetarian/vegan only restaurants here in Richmond, but I heard the most positive things from this place, so I knew I had to give it a try. I ordered the Spicy Sausage sandwich; it came with two large half pita pockets filled with grilled veggies, spicy vegan sausage, melty mozzarella cheese, and brown mustard. That first bite was like heaven. As you finish the sandwich, it starts to get heavy on the mustard, so I would order it again but ask them to go easy on the mustard. It was very filling and worth the $9.50, and since I got full, I took the other half home. You also get to choose a side with the sandwich, and I chose the Brussels sprouts, which were also amazing. I splurged a little and also ordered a chocolate chip cookie, I believe these were vegan, but I can't remember. The cookie was very moist, soft, and chewy. I wanted to eat it all after my lunch, but since I was full, I also saved this. On top of the amazingly crafted, super delicious veggie foods, the staff is incredibly friendly and super helpful. The woman who took my order was very enthusiastic to answer any questions I had about the food. Definitely a little treasure here in the Fan. Nowhere else I have ever been has made a lentil burger that even comes close to the the flavor and texture of this one. My friend took me here since she knew I was vegetarian. I was so happy to see everything on the menu was something I could eat! This was the first time I've ever been to all-vegetarian restaurant. The staff was really nice and helpful. No one seemed miserable, which is always a plus. I got the spicy "sausage" sandwich. It wasn't overly spicy (which I liked), but there was way more vegetables than sausage pieces. The vegetables were still really good, but more sausage would have been better. If I order this again I would opt for light on the mustard. As I got to the bottom of my pita, I was overwhelmed with the taste of it. I got Greek orzo as my side and it was light and fresh. 3.5 Note: This review focuses on Fresca On Addison's tacos. Out of the three tacos I ordered, the flavors on the BBQ taco (not listed on the online menu) were the best. It was my first time ever eating seitan, and the texture of it kind of threw me off, but the pineapple slaw more than made up for it. My favorite taco however was the light and fresh avocado taco. The curry veg taco was also good, but the vegetables were a lot crunchier than I expected, so they didn't really go well with the softness of the corn tortilla. Although I enjoyed my three tacos, I wouldn't get them again because they weren't amazing nor were they filling. With tax, I paid around $10.00 for three small tacos, and I'd be fine with that if I were full after my meal, but I wasn't-they were more like snacks than a real meal. However, with that being said, I'd still like to come back to Fresca on Addison to try their vegan pizza. read more

SO SO good! Vegan, vegetarian, omnivore, doesn't matter - the food here is incredible. The burgers in particular are my go to - they're so different than any other veggie burger I've had before, yet so satisfying somehow. I could eat them every day. That said, some minor issues are: super strange hours that make it hard to plan a visit, somewhat slow service, and you'll probably feel out of place if you don't have dreadlocks or at least 15 tattoos. read more

Based on other reviews, I tried the chicken salad sandwich. I liked it a lot. The fresh pita from the pizza oven made it extra special. I'd definitely order this sandwich again. One friend had a pizza on wheat crust, which she loved. My husband had a bean burger and wouldn't return based on his experience (he isn't a vegetarian). On a 2nd visit, I tried 3 different tacos. They were a bit lacking in flavor and contained a lot of cabbage. The staff was friendly and allowed me to work for about an hour after my meal using their WiFi. Street parking was easy to find and free during both of my visits. I'm glad this healthy option is available in Richmond. read more

I hate to give out one star reviews but my meal here was horrendous. We were excited to try this place after arriving for a quick family visit from Florida. Sadly, they were out of their vegan bbq well before closing ... so I ordered the tempe tacos. The staff made them wrong twice and then, I had to eat the finished product which was a huge pile of thick stringy slaw saturated in vinegar. While there were a few, small pieces of tasteless Tempe on top, the tacos really should have been called "vinegar slaw" tacos. It was the worst vegan meal I've ever paid for. My vegan daughters were not fans of the flavorless cheese on their vegan pizzas. I would gladly give them my wife's outstanding cashew cheese recipe. We did try several other vegan restaurants in Richmond (Carytown), and were very happy with them. read more

Both were full of flavor and they heat the pita so the bread is soft and warm but the rest of the sandwich is normal temperature. Seating outside if you bring Fido. Highly recommend when in Richmond! Wow - not sure what I was expecting, but this place wildly exceeded expectations. I got the mushroom pizza and it's seriously the best vegan pizza I've ever had. Everything was delicious and handmade. I also got hummus (incredible) and baklava. I wish I had room to eat more! So sad I don't live here, because I would love to come back again and again. Im sooooo impressed with Fresca! Ive passed this place countless times on my way to Lamplighter... and truthfully, the meatless food at Fresca is wayyy BETTER than that of Lamplighter. So flavorful and delicious! And they've got illy coffee!!! As a first timer, I asked what was most popular on the menu. Currently: the burgers. I am also eliminating gluten from my diet due to a possible sensitivity, but they were quite accommodating and happy to do so. I ordered the Black Bean burger (with gf wrap) and roasted brussels on the side. It was AMAZING, and again sooo flavorful. I cant wait to go back and try more! It's possible that I'm biased because I'm not vegetarian, but that doesn't mean I don't know a good thing. This isn't that. Both things that I tried last night were a disappointment, and the prices were even more disappointing. The service is very friendly, but the seat yourself, get your own silverware, clean up your table, clean your plates in the trash, sort the dirty dish aspect of the place doesn't justify the high food prices. (Neither does the food). My sushi wrap had the flavors I was expecting EXCEPT no rice??? I highly anticipated some room temperature rice to really bind this whole thing together but instead it was just vegetables. Average flavor, but man was I bored after just a few bites. The accompanying potato salad wasn't cooked so each bite had a starchy crunch. To make it worse, the sauce was nearly vacant so it tasted mostly of raw potatoes. As I ate, the 3 orders served around me were incorrect. Each person looking noticeably disappointed that they had to get all their own utensils and sauces, and each looking upset that their orders came out wrong one after another. Chalk it up to a bad night maybe, but for a place that's been open this long I likely won't return. read more

Fresca is a small, cozy, yummy restaurant that is ready to serve up yummy veg-head friendly food. The location is small, so not great for large parties. There is a small patio with outside seating. Their menu has sandwiches, pizzas and entrees. It is made to order so you will have to wait a little bit for your food. But it is worth the wait. Vegetarians, carnivores and vegans will delight in their selection. It's simple, good food, made from real ingredients. You'll leave feeling full and satisfied. I highly recommend their hummus with veggies and pita (made in house!) The hummus is very garlicky but I love that. I also have had the pear and arugula sandwich more then once and I love it! They have a great selection of sides, I have had the apple/fennel salad, brussels sprouts and potato salad! I LOVED the brussels sprouts. Yummy, roasted and crisp on the edges. My one warning is their store door. It is a heavy door the swings closed quickly. I got my heel caught and it hurt. A lot. Especially with the little ones- beware! Overall- really great little spot for sandwiches, pizza and more! The real ingredients and pleasant staff make this place worth a visit. read more

After hearing so much buzz about this place, I was really excited to check it out. I felt like the meal I had was good, but not what I was expecting given the reputation this place already had. I got the Greek salad pizza (on whole wheat, yay!) and my boyfriend got the egg salad with potato salad, and the curried butternut squash soup with coconut. My pizza was okay. I'm surprised at reading so many comments about the crust being hard, because mine was quite soft. A little too clearly made on a pita for me. I felt like it lacked crunch. The spicy sauce, cheese and olives were good, but the thinly sliced lettuce was a little weird. It got a bit soggy on the pizza so I think it didn't quite add the dimension they were hoping for. I did like that the pizza felt light and not so terrible for me as a regular pie, though. My boyfriend loved his egg salad, but wasn't a fan of the potato salad. It tasted like it had spicy mustard in it, which wasn't his thing. Similarly, the soup had good flavor, but it was really, really thin. It tasted more like a sauce then a soup. In all, we felt like it was a good option to mix up our weeknight dinner routine, but not as stellar as we'd hoped for. read more

OMG! I love this place SOOO much. It's the one place I miss in Richmond, VA and there's surprisingly nothing in NYC that is quite like it. My favorite is the broccolini sandwich w/ the white bean spread on the whole wheat pita. Coming in close second is the sushi sandwich (this sandwich is so unique and surprisingly taste just like sushi in a non-weird way). Their potato salad and cole slaw are also quite delicious on the side making it the perfect lunch (or dinner actually). I never had their pizza but my friend did and LOVED it. This is by far my favorite place to chomp on a good vegetarian meal! I once took one of my most carnivorous friends here and he ordered the chorizo, pepper and onion pita (not knowing it was vegetarian chorizo). He LOVED it and had no clue it was not real chorizo until I told him after our meal! My two favorite items I've gotten here are the kale and pinenut pizza (so freaking good!) and the egg salad pita. Sitting on the toilet while writing this review... Ok I ate the greek salad pizza. It was tasty, but within an hour I was trapped as a slave to my porcelain god! The vegan girl that took my order was a little rude. I simply asked her which pizza should I choose, the egg pizza or the greek. She looked at me with disgust and said, "I am vegan." I told her I guess that I will have the Greek then... I think she poisoned me. I can't get off the toilet. If you value customer service and your anus, don't eat here.
