Great restaurant the food and service are always very good and the owner is always very friendly.

Love this place. Friendly staff, nice ambiance and a great menu. The menu offers a lot of your Italian standards, as well as some choice items such as osso bucco, rack of lamb, bering fish dishes etc. Their appetizers are perfect in size and flavor. I am a sucker for their artichoke in Gorgonzola and the calamari, which is cooked to perfection. They have a full bar and a great selection of wines. Wednesday nights are half off bottles of wine so as you can imagine they are a popular evening. They also offer live music. Check it out, you will not be disappointed. Have been here before, and completely enjoyed our experience. Tonight we dropped in for a glass of wine and it was wine Wednesday and the bar was reasonably busy. We sat down, were brought bread and waited to be acknowledged by the bartender. We tasted one sample and wanted to ask a question before we ordered. He didn't acknowledge us for about another 10 minutes. When I got his attention I asked about their house wine he had mentioned and he sat the bottle on the bar and walked away without offering us a sample. He walked back by and put the bottle away. We waited a few more minutes but he never even looked our way. We got up and walked out. It had been 25 minutes. Ridiculous. He was very busy so perhaps the manager (standing around in the middle of the restaurant) should have pitched in. read more

First time here. The staff was very friendly. I had veal and my wife had calamari pasta. We split the palm of hearts salad. Everything was delicious and the portions were generous. We also shared the tiramisu. I don't eat dessert much, but this was light and flavorful. Worth a return visit. read more

My husband and I had the BEST meal today at Fresco Grill. The Parmesan crusted halibut was amazing. From appetizer to dessert, the flavors were spot on. Our waiter Mark was very attentive and professional while assisting us with entree choices. This was our second visit to this restaurant and we will definately be coming back again soon. A buddy of mine recommended this place for a double date, and knowing we both had to skip Valentine's this year, my girlfriend and I came here. The food was impeccable. My girlfriend is a wine rep and their list even impressed her. We went on a Friday night just in time for the happy hour, had a couple of drinks at the bar and stayed to watch the Jazz group setting up. Our server, Robin ran off a huge list or detailed specials, I picked the Osso Buco (it was veal baked in wine sauce or something SO DANK), my girlfriend had picked a fish, and Rob had their steak. Fresco Grill ,, Bonsall if there was 2 1/5 stars I might give it that -- the positive :: this place does have a beautiful ambiance ,,, all decor , murals/paintings , lighting great & clean + The service was very good also -- Now the food ,, Blah ! medium at best -- The bread and sauce served along were bland - The portions tiny / small and prices high $$$+ - A friend asked -- what is more important - quantity or quality in most Italian restaurants the answer is ~ BOTH ~ This is Italian and it is Bonsall - OK of course I ordered the eggplant parmesan - It was fair -- I could have done as well with store purchased & jazzed up a bit - When I go out to eat - I have the test items for different cuisines - these items are generally hard for me to do at home especially for ONE Italian - Eggplant // Mexican Chile Rellenos // Asian Tofu SO Frescos failed on three Italian tests - Eggplant , Sauce and Bread were just fair - nothing more - I did have a drink --- again it was just OK My dining companion had a seafood dish and thought the same just OK Sad Reality -- Frescos hit it out of the park in Decor , Ambiance & Music but unfortunately the FOOD DOES NOT MEASURE UP read more

We have patronized Fresco Grill a lot over the years even before we moved to Bonsall nearly 3 years ago. We had dinner with friends here on Friday night. I ordered the lobster special for under $40. My meal arrived and it was beautifully plated, however smelled suspect from the minute it was delivered. I just thought it was the combo of the lobster with the marinara sauce on it. I tried a bite and noticed right away it was bad. Everyone else at the table could smell that it was bad as well. It tasted like ammonia, the true sign for fish/seafood being rotten! It made me sick to my stomach and I called the server over and handed her back the plate and let her know that the lobster was bad. She was very apologetic and said she would notify the manager and take it off our bill. I did not order anything else to replace it, as I had an upset stomach from what I did eat of it. The manager never came to our table to address it and we never got compensated for our trouble. We even ordered coffees and dessert, which a competent manager would have given gratis, but were completely ignored by the management. This is the second time I've had bad seafood at this restaurant, but figured it was a one time deal. A few years before I had a shrimp Caesar salad made with bad shrimp. I do not recommend this restaurant and will never return. It is a shame that this place is so busy and one of the few nicer restaurants in town. Avoid this place AT ALL COST!! read more

I will say the staff is very nice. And the place is clean and decently decorated. The food was the problem. They serve you complimentary bread with sauce. the sauce (marinara) is cold and the bread is too, also it tasted old. The same scenario with the other food. no real flavor , and it all tasted as though it was not fresh. The shrimp platter was the best part and it was forgettable. Wonderful service. Small portions unfortunately but you should know that going into it. The price is a little bit higher than normal based on the fact that it's Bonsall I think. Chef Leone always prepares the most wonderful dishes and will always let his customers partake of his creativity. I gave this place a bad review a couple of years ago and would not have been back, but my friend wanted to take me out for my bday and this was where she suggested. One of my complaints before was how they served bread with marinara sauce that wasn't that good. Oil and balsamic would have been a better way to serve it. To my surprise this is how the bread came out. Positive change. We had the eggplant parm and it was really good. We also had a salad that was fresh and tasty. First time into Fresco - we drove by it often and thought we would give them a try. The Décor is very nice and live music was enjoyable. I will say the host was very nice and greeted us quickly at the front door. Once seated it took a while to get service. Once we ordered the waiter was friendly but vanished. We did not order alcohol drinks and ate light - soup, salad and one flat bread. We had to flag the waiter down for water refills and never once was asked how everything tasted. The only time we saw a waiter was when we flagged one down. As others have stated the salad is drenched in dressing and soup was OK. The flat bread was small and below minimal restaurant standards (not acceptable for $13). The prices did not match the quality. I understand the concept of a high end restaurant with high prices, but the food nor service matched the concept. We had to flag the waiters down to get the check so we could leave after nearly a 2 hour experience for a small amount of food and lack of service. If you are going to spend the whole night for dinner and order tons of food and bottles wine then maybe this is the place for you. It is probably better as a wine bar experience with the live music than a restaurant. A combo restaurant and wine bar makes it a competing environment. My wife and I did not like the dining experience. We may consider going back just for the wine bar and music. read more

We went there for the Sunday brunch buffet.NOT typical buffet food, was higher end gourmet. I would have given 5 stars but online it says it is $22 then when the bill came it was $23.95 a piece. I was pleasantly surprised and the food was good. The lobster bisque was very good as well as the clam chowder. The clams were very fresh and not overcooked. The several raviolis they had were very good. Chicken was flavorful, had small raw shrimp with cocktail sauce, beets, three types of fresh fish, deviled eggs, several pastas. Would have liked to have more dessert selection than canoli and apple pie. NOT typical buffet food, gourmet. The filet dish was cooked too well done for our taste. service was good. Tonight our service, drinks, salad, etc was great..my husband enjoyed his meal, however my grilled salmon was overtaken by the lemon sauce and I couldn't taste the salmon; it was also not a robust cut of fish, didn't look wild at all. We have been to this restaurant a few times. A year or so ago the service was so painfully slow that we swore we wouldn't go back. Tonight, as we walked in the door the ambiance immediately transported us back to beautiful Italy. The music was wonderful, but the food was outstanding. Inge, our waitress was very professional, friendly and prompt. The artichoke appetizer with the three cheese filling was something to write home about, The minestrone soup and the beet salad were superb, and the delicious limoncello gelato topped off the meal perfectly. We were looking forward to going to this restaurant and it was a big disappointment. The food was ok but the service was terrible. The waiter could care less about our table. He was more interested in another table with a couple he obviously knew. He was slow, inattentive, careless and just did not listen. At one point an assistant brought grated cheese for us. Five minutes later the waiter came with grated cheese and without asking put cheese in two of our plates. At the end we got the bill without a chance to order dessert. read more
