    Falafel Sandwich
    Mark D.

If you've read some of my reviews, I'm always in the search of a good shawarma. There are some good shawarmas in the area, but a lot of not so good places too. I would rate the shawarma at this place as one in my top 3 in Buffalo. The owners are Syrian, which is my preferred style of Arabic food. I do prefer my shawarma with more salad and without the potato. They are very friendly and accommodating. One thing to note is that their "shawarma plate" includes a shawarma with Salad and potato, unlike shawarma plates at other restaurants which includes the loose meat, salad, a starch (rice or french fries), etc. You also wouldn't know that they served shawarma from the business name of this place. The only reason I know of this was thanks to a friends recommendation. But this is understandable since their baklava and other Arabic sweets are out of this world. Growing up in the Middle East, I am very familiar with Arabic sweets, and its easy to find a lot of sweets which arent fresh or just off on taste. These guys serve some fresh sweets and that were perfectly done. I would highly recommend getting Arabic sweets from here, and pick up a shawarma while you're there. It's also worth noting that this is only a pick up spot and with no room to sit and dine.

What an awesome food here in Buffalo. Obela was a gracious host while I was in this business. They have a nice assortment of fresh sweets, kunafas, baklava, lady finger and honey cake YUM. What a bargain at $10 per pound. I tried the honey cake OMG the honey rushes into your mouth with each bite. The cheese kunafa such awesome flavor the kataifi is so pleasing with each bite and not overly sweet, PERFECTION! I also tried a pistachio baklava, DELISH. I'm only visiting Buffalo so I did the smart thing and bought four pounds to take home and savor. Thank you for having a wonderful business to share a little slice of your homeland with us.

This hidden gem is easy to overlook in a, "blink and you'll miss it" ordinary white house, with an enormous sign in red and white, mostly in Arabic. It would be a huge mistake to fail to park your car and let your appetite guide you. The owner warmly welcomes you, and offers small squares as tasting samples. Firstly, the cool cases of finely wrought pastries: honeyed baklava in triangles, squares, and "fingers", in either pistachio or mixed nut varieties; the maamoul: Sweet dough stuffed with chopped dates or pistachios and covered in powdered sugar. All pastries are sold by the pound. Equally amazing is the hot food: A marinated chicken shawarma is served in a wrap with sliced pickles and melting cubes of potatoes. The sandwich is $7, or a platter with a mountain of thickly cut French fries is $12.50. There are also falafel sandwiches and hummus available. Water, Orange Crush, and Pepsi available on premises. Although there are two tables with a few chairs each, we chose to pack our finds as a picnic, and drove to nearby Unity Park.

This place is the real deal. They charge just shy of $10 (as of the writing of this review) per lb of an assortment of Syrian sweets. This place is very small and is basically a desert deli. They seem to also have some meat and savory options, though I did not partake in those. I went in with some friends to get a large assortment of sweets for a party. The employee of the store gave all three of us a sweet as a sample as we stood there gawking at how delicious they looked. He lent us a colorful serving plate and put a lot of thought into the appearance of our platter. Many of them are similar to baklava, and there are various nut options. My favorite was the pistachio. This place is a small family-owned business. I'm so glad they have brought such a fantastic desert option to the downtown Buffalo community!

I brought some baklava for my co-workers birthday and it was a big hit. Very buttery and sweet. The cashew packets were especially good. While I was getting the baklava I decided to try three falafel and Shawarma for dinner. The Shawarma was decent but I definitely cannot recommend the falafel. The flavor profile was unusual and I did not enjoy it. The guys behind the counter were friendly and helpful. I'll stick to the fresh Arabic sweets, though, and steer clear of the sandwiches.

BAKLAVA is the BEST in Buffalo. Hands down. Yummy, light, flaky phyllo layered with just the right amount of sweetness and nuts. Honey-dripping, soppy, overly sugary baklava- this is definitely not that! That's why I enjoyed the baklava here today. JUST RIGHT as Goldilocks would say after sampling the "other two" baklava contenders! Bought one pound assortment for my family and another pound for a thank you gift for a dear friend. Also bought a plate of hummus. A little bland, or it could be that I'm used to tasting more garlic and salt in the hummus I've been buying recently from other places. It was creamy in texture and good for snacking with toasted pita and celery sticks. Very friendly, talented and hard-working owner, immigrant from Syria. So proud to see him succeeding in his business and adding to the richness of our ethnically diverse Buffalo community. Inshallah ("God willing" in Arabic) this is just the beginning for him and his lovely bakery/ restaurant. I can't wait to stop again to try the delicious shawarma and falafel sandwiches! Won't be long!

I feel like my journey in search of the best falafel sandwich around the city is now over before it even started. I can't imagine having a better, more satisfying sandwich. I was extremely happy with my experience on many levels. The service was outstanding. What can be better than meeting the owner with smiley eyes who's ready to feed you? My food was juicy and full of flavor. I couldn't open my mouth wide enough to get a full bite only because the wrap was so big, loaded generously with my favorite fixings. The hummus not only tasted delicious, but also looked pretty with some whole chickpeas and a dash of paprika (sumac?) on the top. Its texture was ideal with a perfect balance of all ingredients. My partner said his shawarma sandwich was moist and meaty. Possibly, it is going to be my choice next time we visit, hopefully soon. Then we'll also try their amazing looking sweets.

This place is a hidden gem! The menu is quite small, only a few items... but they do these items very well! The chicken shwarma was cozy deliciousness! It was a warm and tasty delight! There was a whole meal inside of the grilled wrap, a delicious meal. The desserts were oooey, gooey sweetness... they had two choices of pastry (they are just cut differently), one filled with pistachio and one with cheese...I of course could not choose between them, so I ended up with both... so.glad.i.did... The family that runs this tiny jewel left Syria several years ago to escape war and although the father has limited English, it is very pleasant chatting with him. They live in the city as well. We found out we're practically neighbors, (as will happen in most establishments in Buffalo)! I recommend this place, but remember VERY LIMITED MENU.

This place is a hidden gem, blink and you miss it. The baklava is the absolute best!! Been getting it for years. The price is outstanding. I got 3 of the large containers for $34!!! I always get some for my family, who came into town yesterday, as they love it too. There's this custard like thing, I don't know what's it's called and they don't always have it. It's soooo good! The young man working there is so kind, and a lovely person. He always gives a sample piece of baklava. Even better, yesterday I saw grape leaves which I didn't know they made (I'm always focused on the baklava). I said I love grapes and will have to get some next time. This lovely man gave me 1 to try and 4 to take home!!!

Craving dessert and landed upon some baklava, which I love! There is a small table for four indoors but most patrons seem to grab their food to-go. I picked up a couple of pieces to satisfy that craving (by the pound) but wished I bought more. Assortment containing cashew, pistachio, and walnut filling/topping. Syrup and sweetness was well balanced with the light and fresh phyllo layers. Always happy to support a local business that was established late last year. They serve wraps, sandwiches and platters as well, which I will have to try next time. Street parking is available out front but also around the corner.

Good desserts. Okay shawarma. I heard about this place by way of a news article in one of the local papers. This is a brand new establishment just opened up by a Syrian immigrant so a girlfriend of mine and I decided to check it out. We went at 5:45pm on a Wednesday evening. We ordered shawarma wraps and a box of desserts to go. The wrap was made of chicken shawarma, mayo, pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, wasn't sure if it had mushroom in it? but it included French fries inside and the whole thing was grilled. Pretty tasty. The owner speaks some English and is very nice and generous. He was eager to offer us samples to taste before choosing. Be aware there is one one table, one chair, and a rolling stool so it isn't really an "eat-in" kind of place. Be prepared to take it to-go. They do also sell sodas and whatnot. It's a brand new business and you can tell they're still very much in the process of getting it off the ground but it'll be interesting to see where they are in a year. I'll definitely go back.

Great shawarma and kebab! Had to wait while he fried up the meat fresh. Their desserts were great too Check this place out, it's great to have some good lamb in Buffalo

Went in because I had a sweet teeth and left with a yummy variety of baklavas and cheese danish-like treats. They also served some hot foods, but I only had the desserts and though I didn't love them all (just the flavor profile, not quality) I was glad to have a place to try a few different baked sweets from around the world. Try the honey cake if you go.

They had six flavors: sangria - fruity, wine; honey whiskey - topped with a Biscoff; piña colada - not pictured because I skipped that one; mojito - lime and rum; black forest - chocolate cupcake with boozy cherry; peanut butter whiskey - also a chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting. Presentation and toppings were all really lovely and looked delicious. Super creative concept all around. Most of the cupcakes were yellow or white cake, the rum, whiskey, and wine were noticeable but not strong. So you knew they were there, but not overwhelmed. Some people might actually want them to be stronger! The flavors in general were subtle but clear. The frostings were all pretty light and pleasant, which is nice. I know there's a lot of people who really like dense buttercream and cream cheese frostings and for whom cupcakes are a frosting delivery vehicle. These are not those. Plenty of rich and delicious frosting for the cupcake but not too much. The cupcakes are not following the super sized trend; they're a nice cupcake sized cupcake. This makes it easy to rationalize eating two at a time because, um, you wanted to compare flavors. Yep, that's totally why. I liked all the flavors I tried, but was surprised that my favorite was the chocolate peanut butter and my second favorite was the mojito. Only comments would be there's some variability as to the moistness or dryness of the cake part, and the filled ones could use more filling. The people at the pop-up (I forgot to ask if they were the bakers/ owners) are really nice and happy to answer any questions or customize an order. As you can tell by my substituting an extra black forest for the piña colada. They'll be back at the Broadway Market for Dyngus Day!
