There are only a few times in life when food is a dining ovation, this is it! Upon arriving for lunch we were greeted with the utmost of southern charm and seated quickly. The ordering process was smooth and swift with great server recommendations. We started out with guacamole and spinach artichoke dips ..simply perfect! The shrimp and grits are to die for. My boyfriend had garlic shrimp and cilantro rice ,, superb. The ingredients are fresh and local when available. This is obvious in one forkful. The day aft list is impressive. The homemade Real fruit juice Patron Margarita is succulent and delish! The filet melts in your mouth, and the kale salad is prepared perfectly with a little zest. The food was very good. However The waitress was horrible. She came and dropped off the drinks. She never came back for refills the whole time. Brought the food. Never came back to ask if everything was OK. She totally ignored us. My husband had to literally stand up and say Excuse me can we get the check. This was after she passed the table 5 times. Found out about this location through a number of friends. They have only been open a few weeks. Overall this was a good experience and I will repeat often. The owner was there and took the time to come over and introduce himself to us. He also explained the concept and their philosophy. It was a nice touch and really made a good experience even better. Had the Cheeseburger with fries and it was really good. The burgers are grass fed beef (part of their fresh concept). The fries were cooked perfectly and tasted very fresh. A friend of mine had the Chicken Kale salad and it was also done really well. Service was really good and attentive (not overpowering). There was a slight issue but it was taken care of promptly (we all know that little things happen, it's all about how it is handled). They even provided a discount card for the next visit. Referred to this restaurant by a Lake Norman local. Dined in the restaurant, no wait. Friendly and attentive staff. We ordered the following: hubby and son NC blackened trout that was fantastic, sides chosen were broccoli and cilantro rice, cheddar grits an cauliflower. I ordered the black n' blue steak salad with balsamic dressing, which was delicious. We also enjoyed dessert - strawberry cheesecake, brownie al a mode and strawberry shortcake. Let me start by saying this place is a well oiled machine! This was our first visit to Fresh Chef and boy were we pleased!! From the start of walking in, a young gentleman held the door open for us, and welcomed us to Fresh Chef. He then proceeded to grab menus and walk us to a cozy booth, where our server promptly greeted us to get our drink orders. He also told us about their specials and soup of the day, which happened to be chili. I personally love a good chili but am very particular about restaurant chili. (I've worked in plenty of restaurants where the chili comes processed in plastic bags and reheated for days on end) So when he said this was the owners recipe and he'd been making for 20+ years, fresh every morning, I had to try it. He offered us a sample first, which was fantastic! I was sold! Best chili I've ever had! On to the meals, we ordered wraps, as that is what I've heard rave reviews about from friends. The herb shrimp wrap was amazing! My husband got the smoked salmon wrap and he thought the salmon was super fresh and perfectly cooked to his liking! On to the service. The service was absolutely fantastic!! It seems like all the wait staff helps all of the tables, which can be overwhelming at first when you have one person grabbing your refill, then another right behind picking up a plate for you, then another asking if they could get us anything else. But I love it! Drinks were never empty, tummies were full, and we left happy campers!! Right as we were about to walk out, the owner stopped us, introduced himself, and asked how our visit was. Now that is customer service! I would highly recommend this place to everyone! And if that chili is on the menu full time, I'll be here everyday for lunch, as it's only 3 miles from my work!! I ate here for a work lunch and was presently surprised. The atmosphere is perfect for a casual lunch and the menu was full of great "FRESH" options. Our waitress told us we couldn't skip the guacamole appetizer, so we ordered it up, but sadly we were disappointed. This was probably the least fresh item we ate. It didn't remind me of anything homemade or the flavors you get when you order a table side guac. Moving on... I narrowed my choice down to the Grilled Salmon Salad with Herb Vinaigrette which was perfect. Light enough for a lunch, but filling enough to keep me going for the rest of the work day. It was a solid 5oz portion of fish and a generous bed of lettuce. The Herb Vinaigrette tasted homemade and was really enjoyable. Despite the app being a little off, the meals were great! We always enjoy our food and service at Fresh Chef. You can order over the phone and they will bring it out to your car when you arrive to pick up. We love their kale salad, trout, and salmon dishes. Just had a wonderful meal in Mooresville NC! We live in Florida and my husband said that was the best fish he had had since we left Florida in May! I had a half rack of ribs - which I usually eat half of -- I ate them all!! Fall of the bone messy and delicious!! We called the manager to the table and told him how good every thing was! One of my favorite restaurants in the area. I always get the grilled salmon served with two sides. Very fresh tasting. I Love the kale salad! My husband gets the bacon cheeseburger with fries and kale salad. It's delicious and always cooked just as you request it. It's big and juicy! The artichoke appetizer is very good also and has a little kick to it, served with tortilla chips. If you still have room for dessert, my favorite is the key lime pie. Ordered carry-out on a Friday evening. Jordan told me it was curbside and they'd bring my order to me (since they asked for my make/model of my vehicle.) Arrived and parked, sat for 5 minutes, gave them a call to let them know I was there and parked out front. Hannah told me the order would be right out. Waited another five minutes and nothing happened. Decided to go inside and lo and behold my order was sitting on the shelf along with seven or eight other orders. Staff apologized for the confusion. Ribeye was flavorless, no seasoning whatsoever. Mashed potatoes were good. Ordered non-blackened (regular grilled) chicken Caesar salad. Got home only to see that it was blackened chicken instead. :( Ribs were decent but hand wipes were placed on top of the ribs in the sauce so what is the point? Fries don't travel well for carry-out. Ordered a cheeseburger with kale and side salads to go. I ordered the burger med well. It was rare, the roll and fries were soggy. The house salad was not as good as it usually is and the kale salad dressing was very lemony. Needless to say everything went in the trash. Sadly, service quality continues to decline. We were once regular visitors - attending twice a week. Now, we come probably once a quarter and each time the distance between visits expands. The food remains very good. Medium-to-high price, which might be tolerable if pricing was consistent between visits, and if the service improved. We just finished dining on a Sunday. They were dead, and as usual, seemingly grossly overstated. The abundance of employees could be seen in doorways, around the bar and up front socializing with one another, but were (per usual) nowhere close enough to flag down or ask if we could finally meet our waiter and order. We were promptly greeted for beverages and told someone else would be our waiter... he showed up far too late, a good ten minutes after we were ready to order. And we had a noisy tot which should have been a clue. We ordered and the food came out as ordered, mostly. My husbands Alfredo was swimming in oil, but we couldn't afford any more delays so just said things were "fine" when asked. The waiter was beyond sleepy and apathetic. He seemed about 5 cups of coffee behind everyone. He was slow, apathetic, unaware you shouldn't put dishes in front of a 1-year-old, and generally unhappy. Service can save or kill an experience, and it's pretty often terrible here. Net, food has potential to become very good, but service has been reliably poor and painfully slow. Hopefully service will thin out and become more energized and responsive, that alone could bump it back to 4 stars. read more

Went here for my birthday lunch yesterday. It was a very good experience for my husband and I. It's definitely fresh food, and you can taste the difference. Everyone was super nice, especially our waiter, Seth. He is a hoot, and loads of fun. He recommended some great choices for us, and was very attentive. Went based on reviews since we wanted somewhere with healthier options. They did not disappoint!! The guac was delish as was the herb shrimp! I subbed the veg of the day for the cilantro rice to cut down on calories and carbs and to my delight it was spaghetti squash prepared with a pompadoro sauce and a sprinkle of cheese. Yum!!! And the shrimp were cooked perfectly and the portion was larger than expected! Usually if I order a shrimp dish I feel like I'm never full but that was not the case here at all! My only gripe is $2.25 for a fountain drink... to me that's a bit much. Also I rarely order pop as I'm a big water drinker but when I saw diet Dr Pepper on the menu I had to get it!! All fresh food. Started with French onion soup. Blackened Trout and shrimp with asparagus and the special vegetable of the day, spaghetti squash. Not many places make spaghetti squash and it's a nice treat. Since everything else was so great I had to try there loaded brownie ala mode for dessert. My family and I ate here yesterday. My dad & brother got cheese burgers, and I had the mushroom burger. My mother had the Hawaiian chicken with rice. We ate here around noon. Last night around 9, my dad started feeling an upset stomach and began throwing up in the early hours of this morning. Around 4 am, I started throwing up as well. At 9 am, my brother began to have severe stomach pain & projectile vomiting. My mother, who had a completely different meal is perfectly fine. After speaking with our doctor, he has confirmed that Fresh Chef's burgers are what gave us food poisoning. Fresh Chef isn't so fresh. read more
