The first time I went, my boyfriend and I split a Six Bowl which gets 2 bases, 2 proteins, and 2 toppings. Let me just say this: it's a lot of food! I went back a second time and ordered the Six Bowl just for myself and couldn't finish it all. I love that they don't skimp out on portion sizes. The staff is also extremely nice. So I finally was able to get down to the Fresh Kitchen after hearing so much about it. My coworker suggested we go after she had an amazing experience. So we arrived around noon(everyone knows it's lunchtime), walked into the building and the rush had not hit yet. The menu is so overwhelming and I feel like everything was moving so fast(which is usually not a problem), but since we were the only ones in line at the time, I was expecting a bit of a slower pace to see what I wanted. I got a bowl with I believe two bases, a vegetable, and a protein. I added an extra protein(because I'm extra), but there's so much going on with the menu I couldn't decide what I wanted. For the bases, I chose a hot and cold item. I chose cauliflower potato mash and sweet potato noodles. The cauliflower potato mash(exactly what it sounds like), was okay in taste but horrible in texture. I wasn't a fan of the texture with the potato chunks and the confusion of what is cauliflower and what is potato. The sweet potato noodles were amazing! I could have gotten more but it was too late. I can't describe the taste, let's just say my taste buds were happy. For the vegetable I got what I thought was Parmesan broccoli, now I'm not sure where exactly the Parmesan was but the broccoli was amazing! For my proteins I got salmon and steak, I believe I was charged extra for both. The salmon wAs so small I was a bit disappointed to have paid extra and to see the amount, but considering the amount of food you get. It was okay! The steak wasn't cooked to my liking(I'm a medium well girl), the steak seemed to be medium rare. All in all, I think I did pretty good with putting my bowl together. Now it did take awhile to get my food, I believe I had to wait on the broccoli and the salmon. But when I did receive it, I didn't regret a thing. Wow just wow. If it hadnt been for my company purchasing lunch for a client meeting, I wouldnt have tried out this GEM. From the minute I took my first bite I was impressed and knew that my life would forever be changed. Since then, I found out the nearest location and went. It was even better at the location. Great prices and many different options. Imagine going in a line and being asked to choose a veggie, 1 or 2 proteins and a sauce. The steak and chicken come off of a real grill so they both have a very smokey and savory flavor. My review is based on two visits, and one order that was picked up. My first order was picked up by a co worker for lunch. Online ordering makes FK so convenient. I chose a pick four after friends were raving about the sweet potato noodles and cauliflower mash. For this bowl I chose the marinated chicken and broccoli. I wasn't impressed with the broccoli but the noodles, cauliflower mash & chicken were absolute heaven. It was so good. At $8.59 however, it was going to have to be an occasional splurge. Next visit was again online order, but I went and picked It up. Wow - what a fresh, clean and hip place. I was loving all the pink, the flowers, the FK shirts with the witty sayings. So when I arrived the menu is clearly posted with the offerings. It's like a Chipotle style set up: pick a base, pick some veggies, pick some proteins, pick some sauce, pick add on's if you want. The offerings however leave you with no middle ground. You either pick a child's bowl (which for lunch is perfect) with 1 offering of each base, protein, veggie, and sauce. Then it jumps to 2 bases, 1 protein, 1 sauce. The price jump from child to the 4 bowl for only 1 base is not justified to me. Since I wanted to change it up this time, I chose a different veggie, mushroom, and a different chicken - the almond chicken. Both good choices this time around, but the bad stomach ache I experienced later left me feeling like FK didn't sit well with me. Third time around I went big and ordered the 6 bowl with green beans, citrus chicken, steak, and my favs sweet potato noodles and cauliflower POTATO mash. I emphasize potato because I felt a little foolish on my previous visits thinking it was just cauliflower and can only think others are thinking the same. My citrus chicken tastes just like, my steak was good but grisly, the green beans had no flavor, and why was everything so spicy tonight. I think it's also the price point that get's me. It's expensive. The online ordering is great! Order and pay online and there is a place set aside for pick ups with your name on it. To go bags are super conveniently located for you to grab when you are ready. FK - you are good, but not good enough for me to let my money go there any time soon. read more
