This place is DANGEROUSLY good (dangerous for my wallet, but wonderful for my taste buds). I visited on the opening day to try a bowl featuring their chia seed tuna poke. Upon arrival, I was immediately impressed by the clean interior and energizing color scheme, featuring light blue booths, light wood panels and bright pink accents. The overall vibe was very soothing and inviting... far exceeding my expectations of a fast-casual restaurant. At 8:45 PM, the line of customers was relatively light, and the place was well-staffed, which kept the line moving quickly. This is an assembly-line-style, build-your-own-bowl restaurant where you start with a base and then build the rest of your bowl (or, I should say that a restaurant worker builds it for you) as you make your way to the counter... similar to Chipotle, but healthier. Everything on the menu sounded delicious and wonderfully seasoned, so I let my eyes be my guide as I worked my way down the "assembly line." I went with the large bowl, which features 2 bases, 2 veggies, 2 proteins and a sauce. The kale slaw didn't sound that appealing on the menu (I'm not really a fan of slaws), but it appeared to be more like a salad (VERY lightly dressed), so I went with that as my base. It's hard to beat a kale salad when you're trying to eat somewhat clean. For my veggies, I went with the roasted mushrooms and cauliflower. For meat, I went with the chia seed poke, of course... although the chicken options looked and sounded great. For my dressing, I went with the jalapeno cucumber. The result? SOOOOOOO delicious. The coconut ginger rice. That is all. Just kidding! All the bases are delicious and the food is yes, fresh. We don't eat meat so we create great veggie bowls (although I wish we could add all the veggie choices - we only get two with the bowl we ordered). You top it off with a sauce, and they are very generous with the quantity. They are GF-friendly and Vegetarian-friendly which is a huge plus as there is something for everyone. I am a fan of Fresh Kitchen. I drove all the way out to the east side of town to eat at the other location a few times. It was time to check out the SoDo location. I took a friend with me as well bragging about all the wonderful choices and how she could make a meal out of just about anything they had. I don't think she was nearly as impressed and I've got to say I wasn't as impressed as the previous. That just means that I will have to go back again and try it again. There are a lot of rotating choices but the roasted broccoli, roasted mushrooms and Sriracha cauliflower are definitely some of my favorites. This was my second time at a Fresh Kitchen. I went to the Waterford location a few weeks ago. Sometimes locations can be better or worse than others...but..this is absolutely not the case here. Super friendly staff and the food was excellent. I did have a small issue with being charged the wrong amount but it was cheerfully and swiftly corrected. As with the other location, you can try a small sample of something before you choose to order. I recommend getting the sauce on the side so you can add as desired or choose to dip some items. This combination was crazy delicious. I was hesitant with the sriracha sauce but it's not spicy per say just a hint of spice. FK's second location in Orlando is located in a newly renovated standalone spot in the parking lot of the Walmart/Publix plaza area on S Orange Ave. Great location for downtown, sodo, and conway dwellers. Parking is super easy and so far the lines have not been long. I have gone 3 times in the last few weeks to this location and have been equally pleased each time. Fresh Kitchen is pretty healthy offering make your own bowls where you choose from veggies, proteins, sauces, and add ons. Super customizeable so everyone in your group should find something to love. My personal favorite include the coconut rice, kale slaw, roasted brocolli, sweet potato, and the almond chicken tenders. I top it off with feta, marinated tomatoes, and 2 sides of creamy ginger sauce. I get the "4 bowl" and add an extra veggie sometimes. Depending on my hunger levels a 4 sometimes leaves enough leftovers for lunch the next day. A "6 bowl" is bigger and includes double protein which you can mix and match. The teas, frescas, and desert bite items are very good as well. Between this location and the Waterford lakes FK I have not had any bad meals. Highly recommend to anyone. Healthy eater or not. Love the healthy food options to choose from. Stopped in to try with the family. The kids opted for the sweet potato pasta (they just thought it was pasta), one had potatoes on the side and one had broccoli. I was not too hungry so they allowed me to also have a kids meal. I did the seasonal smash (cauliflower and mashed potato), with citrus chicken, and sauce on the side. Since the kids wanted sauce on the side we had 3 different sauces to try. They all were good for different reasons and don't know if I could choose just one. The reason I gave it 4 starts is due to my diet and the options there. I can't eat vegetable peppers and I found that a lot of the options had red pepper flakes (like the pasta) or just peppers of some kinds. Now I did not ask if they could cooks something without the sauce so that may or may not be an option, but it just limited my choices. This place is a tough one to rate. Is this a American restaurant? Asian? Fusion? I get it that its a very healthy alternative type of restaurant and you get your food right away "catering style" like Panda Express. The highlight of my experience was the person taking my order. She gave great service and was very patience with me because the process of ordering was very confusing for me. I could tell she was a little frustrated with me because I had a bunch of question on how to order. Even though I am not a big fan of "Panda Express", ordering your food was very easy and displaying the food was easy to see. You choose how many entries and sides you want. In this case, I had to select a bowl type which indicated how many protein and sides you want. I think the word protein through me off guard. It's my fault because I usually go to Jamba Juice, so I relate protein as a powder. I am a short person so I could not get a good angle on seeing the items properly. Once you select the food, I thought they would fill up your bowl, but they don't. The size portion is the size of the ice cream scoop tool they use unlike a serving spoon. The broccoli is awesome, green beans aren't too bad, and the mushrooms are a great, hearty option with the cauli/potato mash! Ginger sauce is a great, flavorful option for those sensitive to spice! My brother loved the coconut sriracha sauce, and added more sriracha on top. Most recently, I created two mini-meals out of my 4 bowl: 1) sweet potato noodles, chia tofu and ginger sauce; and 2) cauli/potato mash with roasted mushrooms. I could literally eat here everyday and I wouldn't get bored with all of the combination options...and my body would be so happy. If you get a 4 Bowl you get 1 sauce. 1 protein 1 sauce, but if you get a 6 you still only get 1 sauce. Also, get better containers. I hate having all this food stuffed in a tiny box.
