I appreciate the options available and how flavorful they are rather than just being salty. For example, they have coconut rice as a base or the variety of sauces to add to the bowl. I love the Brussels sprouts and it's worth it to pay extra for the tuna poke (1.50). The one thing is that whatever you pick, nothing is really hot except maybe steak when they make it right away for you. The restaurant is cute and clean. Wow, I am impressed! The counter-style build-a-bowl restaurant is quick, healthy, and delicious. All of their food is labeled as gluten free, no sugar added, or vegetarian. They also have several types of cold tea, both with and without sugar. The tea with sugar and their soda fountain only use sugar in the raw, not the overly processed white sugar in everything else. Because of this, you will not get "Coke" or "Pepsi" products, but another brand that uses cleaner products. I wholeheartedly loved my food and the different sauces that went along with them. This is a fast casual concept; you order by choosing how many options you want and then in a "Chipotle" kind of way, order as you walk towards the register. I love that their food is hot, fresh, made is small batches and they offer something to meet any kind of dietary preference. I opted for 1 base with 3 vegetarian options versus animal protein. The mushrooms, the broccoli were nicely cooked and the crunch of the kale slaw added some great texture. I up graded to add the marinated tomatoes and I'm so glad I did! For my kiddo, I paid a little more for the salmon and he devoured everything in his bowl! When I go, I know I'm going to get their moo-free cold brew and whichever sweet treat option they offer! We grabbed their chocolate chip cookies which are GF, SF, DF and pack a ton of flavor!!! They use honey instead of sugar and I noticed that a little bit - but the cookies are so moist and kid-approved. This family-friendly spot has indoor and outdoor seating. I have visited this location a few times now and first things first, the service is always fantastic. Employees are very friendly and patient. The food is decent at a reasonable price and surely is a healthier option than other restaurants in the surrounding areas (theres A LOT). However on my recent visits i have found the store to be unusually hot. Granted at the time of this writing, summer time is in full swing here in Florida but still i find it very odd. To the degree (literally) that when i sat down to eat on my last visit i found myself breaking a brief sweat. Which is not so much of a big deal for myself personally (you could blame it on me being a native Floridian, we were all forged in fire) but i can imagine it is not very pleasant for employees being in there for extended periods of time, especially the cooks standing near grills or things of that such. It has a "subway" type set up where you stand on the other side of the glass and pick what you want-you choose base(s), protein(s), veggie(s), & a sauce. They have both meat and non meat options. I chose a base of spinach salad + clean green rice, chilled caprese tofu, parmesan broccoli & maple sweet potatoes & the creamy white ginger sauce. Everything was excellent (even the tofu which I sometimes struggle with depending on how it's prepared) except the sauce which I felt was WAY too sweet. Everyone was really friendly & efficient. My meal plus sparkling water & top was under $16. I do suggest bringing a jacket as it was pretty cold while eating inside. You can order online for easy take out. I always like the Build-your-own-bowl style restaurants. Fresh Kitchen is a good alternative to the more seafood-based poke style places. They have really good chicken and steak protein options here. Their BBQ chicken is really tasty and juicy. I try to keep my bowls pretty healthy so if I'm not choosing the quinoa base, I'm always happy with how fresh their spinach or kale salad bases are. They don't have a ridiculous amount of choices for vegetables and other toppings but what they do have is always good. Personally, i feel their mushrooms are the best thing on their entire menu. I could literally eat a bowl of them alone. When it comes to the sauces, you have to have the Creamy White Garlic. I always ask for extra because it's so good. I was on my lunch break from work, and I would've preferred a quieter atmosphere. The music is a little too loud. It was actually quite difficult for me to hear the associates. The ordering process is similar to Chipotle. I ordered a "Four" bowl with vegetable quinoa, sweet potato noodles, roasted mushrooms, chia seed teriyaki tofu, & coconut sriracha. The coconut sriracha was a perfect blend of sweet & spicy. It had just a slight kick. It was delicious! Every item was fresh and full of flavor! I would like to applaud them on their tofu! Most places serve tofu plain, which is boring. Their tofu has excellent taste and texture! I paid $8.xx. I was content, but not full. I would like to see their portions just a smidge larger. The FRESH Kitchen really lives up to their name. Of course, all the items we wanted were up-charges, but if you get regular priced items, it's worth it. My daughter and I shared a 4-Bowl with Ahi Tuna, sweet potato noodles and romaine salad with Brussel sprouts and creamy white ginger sauce. The ginger sauce really complimented the tuna. There is a soda fountain and iced tea station that has a variety of options. We had the Strawberry Lemon Fresca and it was pretty good, not overly sweet. I really enjoy coming to FK. It's a great place to stop by during my lunch break at work. Their mushrooms are very good. It's nice because I have friends that follow the Keto diet and this place is accommodating to them. They're also accommodating to my gluten-free friends. I don't follow any dietary restrictions so it's nice to eat somewhere that all of my friends are able to get a full meal. This time I ventured out and got the spinach salad with cauliflower mash. Wish I had pictures of the pink chicken but seemed to have deleted them since it was a few months ago, and it didn't just happen once!! It was raw on two separate occasions weeks apart. At least their sweet potato noodles, mashed cauliflower, broccoli, and chickpeas are good, but it's just not worth the inconsistencies of not knowing what you're gonna get with the protein. Most of the ingredients are super seasoned and I personally wish they were more less seasoned as when you put them all together it is going to be either a hit or miss. We created a bowl with sweet potato noodles (almost no taste) which I think were seasoned with some sesame oil, added on top BBQ chicken (didn't like the taste at all- not sure what kind of BBQ sauce it was), sweet potatoes (they were good), added a few veggies and done. Opted not to add any additional sauce as everything was loaded with something (as previously said.) The server rushed us thru the process even if the restaurant was not that busy, so we didn't have the opportunity to really look at everything. If you're thinking about eating healthy and fresh, sadly, this is NOT the place. You know when a place serves cold noodles, they have to get the it right because it can go bad real fast. I ate a bowl with cold noodles and I got stomach bug the same day. It was the only meal I ate that day, it was my lunch. I was vomiting at 9 pm and had a horrible evening. I also tried their zucchini brownies, ehh there was a strong spice that wasn't my favorite, but just a preference. My friend liked them. I love that you're able to sample anything. This place is amazing and I wish I had one in St. Augustine! I have really weird food sensitivities so this place was a dream come true. It's open and bright and fun with a menu that is super easy to navigate; clearly labeled for anything that someone may be sensitive to (gluten, dairy, etc.). I love that their meats are antibiotic- and hormone-free and that they are serving up real, clean food.
