Fresh Kitchen is just the place for fresh food that is fast, but definitely not fast food! Pick a bowl and load it up with healthy options like rice, greens, and chicken or tofu. The line looked long when I came on a weekday recently, but I actually got through it pretty quickly. I chose a 4-bowl of spinach, spice rice, green beans, and teriyaki chicken. I wish the green beans were cooked more, as they were on the extra crunchy side. Also the beans and rice were a bit cold when they were served. Positive is that I didn't burn my mouth on them. The parking situation in Waterford can get a bit crazy, so be patient with that. There are high chairs and a changing table in the women's restroom for babies. Score for moms! I used to love eating at fresh kitchen but I am not sure if they changed the whole kitchen staffs or what...the quality of food is not good at all. This is not the first time it happened but I believe in second chances so I gave it another chance. However, this time, I ordered a small bowl with chicken almond, but one of them was definitely undercooked as you can see in the picture. I also had brown rice and sweet potato noodles but rice was hard like they didn't cook properly and noodles tasted really sour and old. Overall I am very disappointed and dissatisfied :(. read more

The food has always been consistent, food is always stocked, and service has been always on point. If you stop in around lunch time on a weekend, expect a good sized crowd. Upon the suggestion of my daughter, we headed to Fresh Kitchen to grab some takeout. Fresh Kitchen is located in Waterford Lakes Town Center, next to the Best Buy, so it wasn't a surprise to see a few people wearing the Best Buy polo seeking nourishment and a break from the grind of work. They have an assembly line process. You pick your base, your vegetables, your proteins, and finally your sauce and people pour oil into a container. I chose their six choice option (two bases, two vegetables, two proteins, and one sauce). I had as my base options the rice and the kale. My vegetables were mushrooms and broccoli. Proteins were steak (for $1.50 more) and grilled chicken. For my sauce, I had the white ginger sauce. The meal was relatively healthy and not bad. My plate was $9.99 plus the $1.50 extra for the steak option. It does seem they like to upcharge for what they deem "extras". In the competitive restaurant field, that could make or break them. Especially in the mall, where there are literally dozens of other choices. Like I said, it wasn't bad, but the meat did seem to be overly salted and the rest of the choices seemed lackluster. I will say that the broccoli was pretty good. Their selection of teas looked interesting, but we were getting takeout and working against a time frame that my daughter had to get to work, so no tea for me. Again, this is my opinion. My daughter enjoys here. For me, not so much. I just find for close to forty dollars for three entrees, no drinks or nothing, I could have had better. read more

So I was looking for a healthy alternative while out shopping due to a vacation approaching where I'll be in a bathing suit 90% of the time /: I stumbled upon Fresh Kitchen and I'm so glad I did! I explained it was my first time and the employees walked me through everything. Of course I looked at Yelp before deciding upon here and saw Jen B.'s tip to order a 6 bowl instead of a 4 if adding a veggie cause it's cheaper so that's exactly what I did! For my two bases I got the cauliflower mash and green rice. Saying I HATE cauliflower is an understatement, but it literally tasted like mashed potatoes (: The green rice was ok, but not a stand out. I picked bbq and grilled citrus chicken as my two proteins. The bbq chicken was perfect. Tasty and tender. The citrus chicken was grilled to the point that it tasted like charcoal. I'll steer clear next time. For my veggies I got green beans (seasonal) and parmesan broccoli. I favored the green beans, but the broccoli was good as well. They had add on's like yummy pesto tomatoes or you can even upgrade your protein to steak. I'll probably try those out next time. You get to pick one sauce and I went with the balsamic vinaigrette which I was surprised was a green color, but it was fantastic. A+ for a healthy, gluten free, vegan restaurant. I recently visited Fresh Kitchen and loved it. You build your own bowl with four or six picks from their menu board. They have a delicious selection of grilled meats and vegetables and serve fresh high quality ingredients. I ordered a bowl with cauliflower mash, grilled steak, grilled chicken, grilled brussel sprouts and whole roasted mushrooms. I added a scoop of guacamole. The meal comes with one sauce so I picked a creamy ginger and added a balsamic dressing. The bowl did not need dressing so I only used about a teaspoon in total. This place has been on my periphery for quite some time, yet I never felt called to step in and try their food. But, was I curious about what they were doing? Yes. So, when some friends decided to meet up for lunch, I said "perfect!". The cafeteria style line is interesting, there is organization and stuff, and there are plenty of graphics on the walls that tell you what to do. It seems pretty straightforward, except that the combinations of food and spices is not common, like citrus rice and sweet potato noodles, and despite knowing what to do, you still need to figure out what things may taste like. But trust me, you will not regret taking the plunge. I got sweet potato noodles, spinach salad, sesame green beans, grilled caprese tofu, and a creamy white ginger sauce. It was all cooked perfectly, tasty, I tasted a little too much vinegar at times but the sauce balanced that for me. I ate a lot and I didn't feel stuffed or bloated, and that is good! Now, I have been moving towards healthier eating recently because of .... well, you know, and I have been getting more pounds that I need to carry on, so I may be a bit partial towards not fried foods and no carbs. First thing I noticed was masked employees, 6 ft markers on the floor, and someone sanitizing the door handle after each person entered. I liked all of that! I sized up the menu and decided on Signature Holy Kale, Roasted Mushrooms,Herb Grilled Steak, Coconut Rice, Barbecue Chicken and green beans. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and cooked to perfection. My green beans were al dente and not mush. My kale and mushrooms were tasty. My meats were tender and well seasoned. I couldn't eat it all and was filled and satisfied for most of the day. I am so glad I tried this spot and will be back for sure. read more

Saw the new broth bowl item, as tempting as it was stuck with the 4 (2bases, 1 protein, 1 veggie,1 sauce) bowl. I honestly can't recall what I get each time since there's so many great options I switch it up. This time was the Veggie Quinoa, Kale Salad. With Todu for protien, parmesan Broccoli (favorite) and coconut siracha sauce. Also added Pesto Tomatos. We came here for the first time and wished we had come sooner. It certainly pairs with the name as they have all fresh food and delicious options. What makes it so fresh? It's 100% Gluten free, Antibiotic free meats, home made sauces, dairy free, no processed sugar and 100% olive oil is used. What more could you ask for? First you pick your bowl size. This will determine how many sides and sauces you get. I went with the kids bowl while my boyfriend went with the four bowl. While mine had one base, one veggie, one protein and one sauce his had two bases. They have a few different bases and veggies, different meats (protein) and a variety of sauces they make themselves!!! I got coconut ginger rice (delicous!!!), honey ginger carrots, bbq chicken and creamy white ginger sauce. Everything was fresh and full of flavor. The rice was my favorite. My boyfriend got vegetable quinoa, brown rice, sesame green beans, kale pesto chicken, and cucumber jalepino sauce. He devoured his food. Lastly they have a terrific fountain drink area with cane sugar soda and homemade teas and frescas. The strawberry lemon Fresca was my favorite. I LOVE Fresh Kitchen!!! I used to go to the LA Fitness next door and come here every week after the gym. Everything is in their name, freshly made! All of their food taste great! Chicken's always tender and not overly sauced. Kale and spinach salads are on point. Roasted vegetables have hints of charred taste from grilling, perfecto! And best of all, nothing is oily.
