Waterford Lakes~This amazing spot has never been on my radar until today. Although we are not used to eating Szechuan Chinese food, we definitely wanted to give it a shot. None of us can eat spicy, which is apparently exactly what Szechuan Chinese food is! lol That being said, the hostess was more than accommodating in making sure everything was prepared without spice!! Everything was made fresh and with a lot of delicious ingredients. We did not feel like we missed anything as far as taste goes because we did not have the spice. There are several dishes on the menu that I am not familiar with, but through a little bit of a language barrier, I was able to figure out some things that we would enjoy. Love this place!! We always try to go there every time we are in the area. Great food, super nice servers, and they always give us free things to sample! It's a szechuan foods, but there are lots of options for non-spicy eaters too! We always get 2 portions of Yummy Chickens. My kids love them!! The food was good, but the service was terrible. We waited about 10 minutes before the server came to our table. There was no greeting, no smile, and we did not feel welcomed. I asked for water with no ice, but it was ignored. When we ordered three dishes, the server responded with "That's it?" in an unfriendly tone, which made me feel pressured to order more. The food took nearly 50 minutes to arrive, even though the restaurant was not busy. One dish was wrong, and instead of fixing it, the server told me to just eat it and order the correct dish next time. That is unacceptable. I returned the dish. When the food arrived, there were no utensils. I had to get up and ask for them myself. The server then asked, rudely, whether I wanted chopsticks or a knife. Throughout the entire meal, the server--Linda--never checked on us. She was noticeably friendly and attentive to a nearby table of six, but not to us. I'm not sure if it was because we had children or didn't order much food, but that should never affect service. Linda needs additional training on proper serving behavior and attitude. Stopped in for lunch with a friends. Started off with the poach chicken in chili oil. It was ok, a little spicy, served cold and it a half a chicken chopped so expect bones. That why for me this dish was ok. Then got the spicy and crispy chicken (it called other names at other places). Ok the chicken was very good, some heat. With theirs they don't use a lot of the red chili which I liked and not many peppercorns which I don't like. Friend got the fried rice and enjoyed it. I got chicken fried rice to go for tomorrow. One of my sister's go-to Chinese restaurants when the fam is in town is Yummy Taste - and she doesn't even like spicy foods. So I was definitely intrigued. We had a large table of at least 8 people so I was ready for the full spread. We got two orders of the stir fried green beans because my sister claimed one plate would not be enough for the entire table. And it was definitely a good call because while each plate did have a lot of green beans, they were just that good. The rest of the dishes we ordered were all pretty tasty, with my favorites being the Griddle Shrimp, the Mung Bean Jelly with Chili, the Braised Sliced Fish and the Cumin Beef Noodles. We also tried a soup that I can't remember the name of that was good, as well as the Sautéed Scallion Beef and Sweet & Sour Ribs. So you can't go wrong ordering any of these dishes. It is a white fish in traditional spicy sauce. I can said while I am eating and sweating in the same time. I can tolerate the spicy but still make me sweat. Awwwww, snap! This new Szechuan restaurant took over the old VLC vegan space in the Waterford Towers plaza by Papa Lozzi's and Castaways. Don't get me wrong, I liked VLC, but I looooove some good, spicy Szechuan food. The menu has a lot of traditional items you're not going to find on any takeout Chinese places. If you're new to Szechuan food, maybe look at the menu before hand and google or browse the Yelp pics so you're prepared. The menu has just the name of the dish and no description so if you don't have a general idea of what it is, then you're gonna be confused. The menu is my main reason for not giving a full 5 stars because it's lacking in descriptions and also some more variety/options. I'd really like to see more appetizers like my absolute favorite Szechuan Wontons. The diced we got were the beef w/ tofu pudding and the fish in a hot sauce. Both were incredible. And spiiiiicy. I really love these spicy dished that make my mouth tingle and have so much incredible flavor. My only complaint is the amount of peppercorns. I really don't like biting down on a whole peppercorn so I end up painstakingly trying to fish them out from every bite. I guess it keeps me from eating too fast, so that's not all that bad. Yummy Taste is a new Szechuan restaurant located in the Waterford Towers shopping plaza (across from the Waterford Lakes Town Centre). It is an attractive restaurant. Bright with warm wood overtones. The menu here is based on Szechuan food and though small, I found a few items that interested me. I ultimately went with the twice cooked pork noodles and after a moderate wait, my food was brought to me. Overall, the bowl was a bit small and there was not a lot of pork belly. I also would have preferred the pork belly to be fried a bit to develop a bit of a crispy exterior, but it was not meant to be. Overall, the dish was not terrible, but it wasn't a ything special either. Szechuan cooking should be wonderfully complex and this dosh was rather one dimensional. I love Szechuan food, but this place was rather uninspired. This place was a vegan restaurant prior to this change yo Szechuan cooking, though they still have a vegan menu. I guess this is trying to keep customers coming in. Again, I found the food nothing extraordinary or even particularly good. I guess I will go with two stars. read more

A new Szechuan placed in Waterford with new owners from what was I assume a vegan restaurant. I think there are two menus to choose from. We picked the One with more Szechuan Chinese food options. We tried the cold dish (12.99) mr and mrs , beef with tofu pudding (17.99) and sweet and sour pork ribs. All were very flavorful and has that distinctly spicy peppercorn taste from that cuisine. The sweet and sour pork ribs (17.99) is what it is. This version uses what I think is black vinegar and still sweet. Ribs were chopped up and were tender. I'm glad there's a Szechuan spot in east orlando again since Chuan Lu garden shut down. I'll be coming back. read more

This is hands down our favorite Chinese restaurant in Orlando! We have been so many times that it feels like a 2nd home (likely at least 20 times and counting). The food is delicious, always freshly cooked, and so flavorful. We wish we could recreate the dishes at our home but the chef is truly one of a kind. While service can be a little slow, the food fully makes up for anything lacking in your experience at this restaurant. Everything we have tried is truly yummy tasting. The prices are a little higher than we'd like but the portions are fair and the owners are often very generous in giving us dessert or fruit complimentary after our meal. P.S. while the food is known for being super spicy, the chef is able to adjust spice levels and there is still a ton of good flavor if you can't handle spice like me! But if you find it, it really is a hole in the wall. The people here are super friendly and very willing to explain the menu to you if you have any questions, and service as a whole is great. While some of the portion sizes may be smaller than most places, they really make up for it in terms of flavor. The fried pork had a really light but crispy batter on the outside that soaked in all of the flavor from the sauce. The steamed fish was definitely the highlight. Super light and fragrant, the meat of the fish was so soft and tender. Really pairs well with rice. The ambiance of the restaurant is nice, simple, and clean. I really expected this place to be good because of all the reviews, but when we went there, we ordered their house fried rice and salt and pepper ribs. The house fried rice has huge pork slices, and there was a weird taste to it. It tasted like it had been sitting there for a while. Then they brought us soy ribs because the chef said they didn't have the salt n pepper. The picture included is called the Braised Whole Fish, which is my favorite dish at the restaurant. The have a live fish which they catch, and usually show it to you (ask is this fish good?) and then prepare it in the kitchen fresh. I got this to share with my boyfriend and it was the perfect amount. The meat was falling off the bones and it is just so tender. The fish is steamed and you eat it by dipping it in the sauce. My favorite Chinese spot near UCF!! It's Szechuan cuisine so don't expect the regular American Chinese food that takeout places have. Although I think they have some of those options as well but I recommend getting the more authentic dishes. My go to dish is the spicy fried intestines. Literally one of the best I've ever had bc it's really hard to prepare and cook intestines. I also recommend the Szechuan boiled fish with tofu. Very classic dish, can't go wrong with this. If you want noodles, try the Chongqing noodles. And for veggies, get the eggplant with potatoes and green peppers!! I also ordered Cumin Lamb, which was on the Daily Special menu, the Stir-fried Green Beans & the Sautéed Baby Bokchoy. I'd order all of them again & so would my husband except he, unlike me, didn't care for the Bokchoy. I look forward to trying other dishes on the menu. Food was 10/10. I got the Boiled Pot Beef (I had originally ordered the boiled pot fish but it got lost in translation) but I honestly didn't mind at all. EVERYTHING was ate was delicious, and spicy! I had originally thought the cucumber salad was going to be mild, even thought it wasn't, I think that was my favorite thing out of all! My boyfriend ordered the Beef Noodle soup which was just as fantastic. All of our food temperature hot for a good long while, every time you'd stir up your bowl it would steam up again.
