I would sell my soul for one more taste of Andy's. If you don't know if you should go, take this as your sign to pull the trigger. My personal fav is the turtle banana split. Just perfection.

Was crazing a sweet treat and kept seeing this bright bold Andy's ice cream shop in the Midtown area. This is custard style so very similar to Goodberry's ice cream but they have A LOT more options. I love that you can do drive thru or walk up and order. I went with the Apply Pie small, they quite literally chopped up a piece of apple pie in there, huge chunks. It would have took it over the top if the apple pie would have been warm but delicious nonetheless! Super quick service, in and out in less than 3 minutes. Plenty of parking and very friendly staff!

Been here twice now since Andy's opened in Mid-Town in Raleigh, and I'm already a big fan. It's located on East Six Forks Road near Wake Forest Road--an area that has suddenly become a hotspot for trendy fast-food openings, including Whataburger, Guthrie's Golden Fried Chicken Fingers, and Dave's Hot Chicken. Andy's is flat-out delicious. If you're curious about the difference between soft ice cream and frozen custard, here's the quick version: frozen custard contains egg yolks and is churned with less air, giving it a denser, richer, silkier texture served slightly warmer. Soft ice cream is lighter, fluffier, and colder. In short, custard is creamier and heavier; soft-serve is smoother and more airy. Andy's offers an impressive menu of treats, including: * Concretes: Their signature dessert--frozen custard blended thick with toppings, served in a cup because it's too dense to swirl. * Jackhammers: A Concrete with a "drilled" center filled with a topping of your choice. * Sundaes * Shakes and Malts * Waffle Cones, Cake Cones, and Cups On my first visit, I ordered a Jackhammer with chocolate and caramel--a genuine WOW moment. Today, I went classic with a chocolate custard in a cake cone, and it was excellent. I parked and ordered at the walk-up window both times. The whole setup has a charming 1950s art-deco roadside stand feel, and the building design really adds to the experience. It's take-out and drive-through only, but it works perfectly for a shop like this. The staff has been friendly, patient, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic on both visits. This place is already a great addition to the neighborhood, and it's only going to get busier. I fully expect it to be packed all spring and summer--so go now while it's winter and the lines are still short.

I'm a sucker for frozen yogurt, custard and soft serve ice cream so was thrilled to see an Andy's opening near me. Husband ordered the James Brownie Funky Jackhammer which had all his favorite ingredients in it. He said it was delicious. I ordered the small cone, which I have to say was pretty darn small. Custard itself was yummy and creamy. Employees were friendly although still learning as the place just opened. This place might give Goodberry's a little competition!

We got there about 30 minutes after they opened today; super quick service, friendly cashier, clean space, and AMAZING custard.

If you are looking for the nearby museum, that is the Randleigh Heritage Museum. It is a little further up the road, but appointments are usually required. Howling Cow has parking right outside, just watch the signs, as a few spots don't allow parking because of loading zones. Pets are not allowed, so leave them at home. Howling Cow sells ice cream, milk, sodas, water, cheese and other merchandise, such as clothing and water bottles, inside. The coolers are filled with to-go items, and there is even a separate check-out. If you are looking to enjoy your order there, you order at the register. They are a cashless facility, so remember your credit or debit card. You can get cones, cups, sundaes, and milkshakes. There are a few tables inside, and if you prefer to sit on the covered porch, there are tables and even some rocking chairs. The cows sometimes roam the pastures on cooler days. This visit, I went with the chocolate peanut butter ice cream brownie sundae. I wasn't expecting it to be so big and have as many of the toppings as it did. I couldn't finish it, but they had tops to put on it so you could take it to go. These were near where you pick up your order, so it's easy to grab one if you need one. If you are looking for quality ice cream with a variety of flavors in a peaceful setting, check out Howling Cow.

But there is absolutely nothing educational about it -- it's just an ice cream shop. They don't accept cash (legal tender), and there are no signs anywhere telling you that beforehand. They also won't let you sample flavors, so if you end up disliking what you ordered, too bad. Meanwhile, they had one employee working the register while five others just stood around. They're not pet friendly at all either -- no complimentary pup cups, just $1 for a tiny squirt of whipped cream in a cup. I ordered the cookie dough ice cream, which was advertised as cookie dough flavored ice cream with cookie dough chunks. What I got was basically plain vanilla ice cream with maybe three tiny pieces of cookie dough in the entire serving.

She has such a wonderful personality and knows her ice cream. I was one of the first to enjoy her Gluten free Coffee ice cream with chopped up chocolate-covered espresso beans throughout. Then George took the cup of this delicious ice cream and torched it for a brulee finish. Amazing, indescribable, and I will be back for more soon kind of flavors! I have since checked out her flavor options and kick myself for not visiting her shop soon over at Iron Works. It is so close to where we live in downtown Raleigh. No more excuses. We are heading there this weekend for a Valentine's Day treat of one of her many boutique flavors. Plus I love that Andia truly cares about the Gluten Free population and offers so many wonderful-sounding flavors for them.

We decided to get ice cream in waffle cone since we couldn't get the milkshakes. I got the Cookies N Cream in a waffle cone My wife got the Cotton Candy in a waffle cone. The cookies N Cream was good but, the waffle cone was not. The waffle cones are the "softer" ones, i was expecting the classic crunchy waffle cone. I just ate the ice cream with a spoon out of the cone. The cotton candy was not good. It tasted like sugar free ice cream. Same thing with the waffle cone as I previously wrote. The service was great! The ambiance was nice. Not sure if we would go back, our favorite ice cream shop is in Durham and I would prefer to drive 30Min to that place. I would rate Andia's ice cream shop 5th in the Raleigh/Durham area for ice cream. *I would say give it a try I may love it.

I don't know if it was because they were busy on Sunday (5/31/26) or what, but I did not enjoy my ice cream at all. I ordered the Carolina Concrete (vanilla frozen custard with M&Ms, Oreos, and hot fudge). The signature is literally in the name -- concrete -- but mine was terrible. From what I understand, it's supposed to be fresh frozen custard served upside down because it's thick and frozen, but mine was far from that. It was served the regular way, and the custard was basically liquid. I also ordered my dad's plain vanilla frozen custard. The lady helping us was sweet, but she mentioned they only had certain frozen custards available at the moment, which was disappointing. I feel like there should've been a sign letting customers know that beforehand. When I questioned my order and mentioned what the sign described the Carolina Concrete to be, the employee did offer to remake it, which I appreciated. But honestly, I shouldn't have had to ask for something to be made correctly the first time when I paid for it. I'm not sure what was going on, but it felt like they weren't prepared for the Sunday crowd on a hot day. And no -- before anyone assumes it melted because of the weather -- I ate it inside my car with the A/C on, not outside. One thing I'll always give them credit for is the atmosphere. The outside seating area is still really nice, especially with the fountain, and it looks beautiful at night with the lights. I'll probably know moving forward to visit during less busy times or later in the evening instead.
