Fried Green Tomatoes ***** Super crunchy with a sweet flavor and red sauce with a red tomato spicy flavor. Fried chicken 6 pc with baked beans and corn bread ***** Baked beans a must get item. Catfish Sandwich meal.

Five stars for the catfish sandwich. Flaky and tender fish with a crunchy breadcrumb crust. Not oily at all. Can't wait to try more on the menu.

First off, prices have been raised a lot. Second, mac'n cheese has been discontinued. Never made sense that it was only offered on Fridays & Saturdays. My friend & I met here for lunch. She had a cheeseburger with the works and fries. Looked fabulous and my friend said it tasted great! She's very critical, so I know it was good! I tried the catfish dinner. Nice big crispy tender filet, red beans & rice (very delicious) and a too tiny little piece of sweet fluffy cornbread. The price for this dinner went from $15 to $18. While I really enjoyed it, it will be awhile before I order it again. Maybe if there was an adult sized piece of cornbread? I love what they're doing here and the involvement in the community.

Mary and I stopped in for lunch today; our first visit. The place is colorful in presentation, we were greeted by friendly staff; the place is very clean. Mary ordered the Fresh Soul Special; two ribs, one chicken leg, one hot link, two sides, (she choose red beans and rice and potato salad), cornbread, and sweet tea. Everything was delicious, the corn bread is sweet and could have been dessert. I ordered the Catfish sandwich and fries. The fish had a nice crunchy coating and was soft and tender inside, with a mild sauce, the roll was soft and fresh, a delicious sandwich. The fries were hot and tasty. We also got a side of mac'n-cheese which was exceptional. This place hires young folks needing help to an intern position and teaches life and business skills; what a blessing and example of God's Grace in action. You should get in here and give this place a try.

I can't speak highly enough about this place. This restaurant isn't just a restaurant but it gives kids a great opportunity. They do job training that not only teaches kids practical skills like having a job, budgeting, interview skills and, mentoring. It also gives them a purpose and a reason to have pride not only with themselves but their community. It's a small place that has a big heart. Walking in you are greater and sat at a table. Brought waters and your other drink orders are taken. I got their sweet tea which was sweet but not overly so. We ordered their gumbo special that runs once a month and I believe their number 7. The food came out fast and looked delicious. The gumbo was loaded with crab sausage in a thin broth with rice and other goodies. The number 7 had ribs, sausage, chicken with, corn bread and two side. We got the homemade potato salad and french fries. Everything was delicious. The ribs literally fell off the bone. The chicken was hot and crunchy and the sausage was awesome. The gumbo was amazing. Great flavor and super fresh The cornbread was like and airy and packed with flavor. It was a fun and fantastic experience. The service was spot on and the food so tasty. I will definitely be back. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a taste of the south.

This was my first time I ever been to fresh soul, I got a combo meal and the potato salad was ok, I loved the red beans and rice, the hot links were nice and spicy, the chicken was alright but seemed flavorless and the cornbread was nice and sweet. All in all was good but my ribs seemed a tad dry even with the sauce, the meat fell off the bone but it was a tad chewy and was hard to chew for a bit. Other then that I love this little place and over time the more I eat here the more I'll get to try different items on the menu so if anyone is going to be in the Spokane area hit them up and telling you if you love spicy food then hot link ain't no joke lol.

This spot made me fall in love with Spokane's food scene. While I can't claim to have been to tons…read moreof restaurants in the area, this one made me decide I needed to come back to Spokane to get more of their amazing Corn Bread and try some other places in the area. Let me just say... their cornbread. So good. I was visiting on a work trip and I loved my experience at the restaurant so much I returned the next day with a friend also in town for work. The cornbread is like a dessert even if it's meant to be an appetizer. Now every time I come into town, even if I don't eat at the restaurant, I order at least two cornbreads to take home with me. I will say one time they did burn it and I hadn't realized it til I was already well on my way back to the west side. The most recent time I went about 3 weeks ago the cornbread was not burnt, but I feel like it wasn't AS good as I recalled the other 4 times I went to the restaurant. Next time I'm in the area, I'll opt to eat in the restaurant and enjoy it fresh! Every time I've been, I have had great service. The staff is always kind even if they're slammed! The first time I went I chatted with the bartender since I was alone and sat at the bar. They also have really great drinks! Finally, their bathrooms are nicely decorated! Definitely have recommended this place to many!

But that was all that was great. It seems that everything is cooked on the highest temperature. We got hushpuppies and whipped honey cornbread for appetizers. The hushpuppies were dense and while they lack flavor - I did enjoy the sauce that came on the side. It was spicy and had a nice flavor. Although it was obvious they do fry the hush puppies and fish in the same oil. The honey corn bread was burned and tasted of burnt oil. It was oily and had a strange taste and was overwhelmingly sweet. (You'll find that burnt is a common theme.) My Cajun burger was good but the buns were burned. The meat was juicy and had a nice flavour. The fries were seasoned well and were crispy while being soft on the inside. The pork ribs were decent. The sauce was nice. They weren't fall of the bone tender, but still tender enough. The coleslaw on the side was very sour and spicy. It was more like spicy sauerkraut rather than coleslaw. The seafood boil was underwhelming small especially for the price. The shrimp were overcooked. The clams were very small. The muscles still had beards. The potatoes and corn were cooked nicely. It needed more salt and sauce. The sweet teas came unsweetened and while it did came with sugar on the side - the grains were too big to actually stir in. And I would like the mentioned that my cup of water had black specks floating around in it. All in all - I wouldn't return.

I had heard about this place from a friend, who is originally from the south, so when he was raving about it, I figured it was good. The place is a vibey dive. It has some cool art on the wall that is meant to do just that. They care much less about what you think of the place and way more about how good the food is! The gentlemen who run the place do a really nice job and got our food out to us really quick. They have tons of different options, including some really good hush puppies, some next level chicken and some really good pie desserts. Get there early because, as we found, they do run out of some of the pies. The chicken is masterful! From our time in the south, we learned that you shouldn't have to put anything on your chicken. Here....you don't have to put anything on the chicken! It's juicy, salty, southern chicken at its best. Paired with hush puppies and some fries, this makes you want more and want it now. The ribs were another must have. They were absolutely delicious! Falling off the bone and saucy to boot! Go here. Go early. Go chicken!

The place is super small and cozy, with that comforting local feeling right when you walk in. I had the ribs and chicken tenders, and fries. The ribs were just... ridiculously good, especially for the price. Probably some of the cheapest I've had in Spokane, but still incredibly tender, juicy, and full of flavors. Chicken tenders were also amazing, crispy outside, juicy inside, and perfectly seasoned. Even the fries were addictive. I kept eating more even after I was already full. I really wanted to try more of the menu but just couldn't have another bite because I was too full. Definitely one of those places I'd happily come back to every time I'm in town.
