Home during COVID- one of the COVID unemployed so I had plenty of time on my hands. I needed a few things for my next project and my normal hardware store didn't have it. Called the other bigbox which also didn't have what I needed. Annoyed, I googled a local hardware store and called Fresno Ag. Took a moment to understand what I was looking for, but "oh yeah, we have those" was the eventual answer so hop into my car and here we go. Everyone is wearing masks, spots on the floor for distancing, one way entrance and exit, plexiglass for the cashiers and the lady I spoke to said she feels lucky to work with so many people who believe in science. I love that, because other businesses' employees don't tell me the same thing. There seems to be a lot of pushback in this area, so I feel obligated to point it out for those who care. They will make you wear a mask, they control the number of people in the store so you may have to stand in line a minute. Be prepared, and I would suggest extra kindness and compassion will go a long way. The items in the store seem well priced, I was in a bit of a hurry and I wasn't trying to linger. I did find a little pile of ladybugs for the backyard garden, which I haven't seen "off season" since I moved to Fresno. That shows a dedication to organic gardening and I love that too. Finally, I was concerned about where (in which political coffer) my money may end up in, so I emailed and asked. I got a response the next day, and was relived to find that they don't make political contributions. Rather, they reinvest in the community (Think: Valley Children's Hospital, employee reinvestment) so my money will stay here. I *really* love that. So, lifetime customer here. read more

After I was asked by the security guard at the front of the store, I was both surprised and to leave my purse/backpack at one of the checkout stands. It may have been the most excitement of the day, but I asked if it was a safe parking lot. He replied yes, even though I know it's sketch as hell. I dropped my bag in the car and went back in. I looked at kitchen utensils, pesticides, sharpening stones, flower containers and seeds. I remember there used to be more of a variety. A few unique fruit seeds were purchased, but nothing else. Awww... overpriced on so many items. Regular Ace items seemed right for Ace, but other items were just too much. I miss OSH. Sadly the maze of aisles were not inviting and I do not think I will return. I used to love this place, but it seems to have gone downhill. Although I over heard they have a great home plant supplier and their indoor plants looked lovely. However, it was so crowded in that area I did not want to stay long. The positive is that there were many people working until 5p and they seemed happy to be getting off work. My purchase of $6 made me happy because usually I do not escape a store like this without spending $100+. They may carry hard to find items and hopefully you find what you are looking for. read more

This is my kind of hardware store. Big but not the size of a small town. I'm rarely in need of a hardware store but this is always my first stop and I've always found what I've needed. Today I needed small rods or dowels. Found 'em; might not work for what I need but I found what I was looking for. One of their best assets is their employees. This was the year for a security door on my front door, mainly to be a screen door so the dogs don't shoot out of it when it's open. I always think of Fresno Ag first for all of my hardware needs. So I trotted up there, and was perusing the metal doors, and as always they have such excellent customer service. I was approached quite rapidly by a sales associate in the hardware department and we talked it over. I made my selection. They also had a nice array of high-quality locks and I was able to select one which matched my current front door key. Bill was ever so helpful. He even reset the locks that I was buying to match my current key. It was so easy! Then when I got home and was having them installed I had some trouble switching the handles around. I went back to Fresno Ag and they assisted me showing me how to do it because it wasn't in the instruction sheet that came with the locks. Super, super helpful! I always go to Fresno Ag first for all of my hardware needs, they have a great array of gardening plants potting soil, fertilizers and so on. Pest control, they've got it. Front doormat, another win. Kitchenware. Do you need Lodge cast-iron? I do. Even though I already had some skillets, I needed a metal weight to put on my bacon. Check, they've got that one. Cleaning products? They carry Zout the stain remover I favor. They have plenty. They even have giftware and hand towels, all kinds of lubricantcants and vacuum cleaner bags and children's toys. What I need to work on my sewing cabinet refinishing they have all the goods that I need. And the customer service is always supreme you can ask a question and they explain things. They have clothing, and electrical stuff. You can buy one bolt, screw, or nut at a time as opposed to some of the big box places where you have to buy 50 in a box. I've been able to get a pull string for my latch on my gate, and electrical wire strippers for rewiring some machinery. The tool section is great and they have everything that could go on a Dremel. I have visited Fresno Ag a few times recently. I am impressed with the variety of products that are offered for the home and garden, as well as the helpfulness of all staff. Particularly, I was trying to locate a pull out hose for the kitchen faucet, and unfortunately I purchased the wrong part. Despite this, all the staff here were very helpful and knowledgeable in my quest, and they cheerfully refunded me for the wrong part. I won't be shopping here any longer. Unfortunately i am fed up with their crap management and the constant frustration that comes with shopping here. I was buying specific things from here because other places didn't carry what I needed. Ever since they've hired new folks different stuff has been ordered, the same stuff I once bought hasn't been ordered and all three times I've talked to two ladies in the garden area I've been told it would be ordered. I was told to leave my info and I would receive a phone call regarding the stuff I need. It's been nearly a month and not one phone call.
