The season is upon us again and while laying out Sunday afternoon I decided that I wanted some alone time with the girlfriend. Upon searching for available restaurants that had open spots for an early dinner I settled on this gem. Upon entering we were immediately welcomed and being the second party there had the luxury of picking any seat in the house. We settled on indoor seating and the experience began. This place is a quaint place and off of the main drag but don't let that deter you. Within a matter of minutes of our arrival more and more people started to fill the bar as well as the dining area. We started out with a the mussels and Chipotle hummus. Both of these starters were heavenly. The white wine broth was just enough to add a bit of umpf to the mussels. And the hummus was one of the best that I've had. With the reggae tunes in the background I had some the need for something to go along with it so I ended up with the Pork Chop that featured a Jamaican jerk. Now this was the second pork chop that I had during the weekend and let me tell you this one took the cake hands down. It was cooked to perfection and was one healthy portion. Still a go to spot even in COVID times. We ordered dinner tonight for our anniversary and were very satisfied. The disco fries were an awesome throwback and threatened to make everything else seem blah until we tried the cauliflower farro with the pork chop. That was amazing! Kudos to Gretchen in the kitchen for continuing to surprise us. We can't leave out the Meyer Lemon Cosmos. Trust us and order a pint. Excellent idea from Michael!! The food was incredible. We ordered the hummus, the watermelon salad, the mixed greens salad with pear, the salmon tartar, the salmon entre, and crab spaghetti. Each dish was delicious, with balanced flavors and great texture. The salad was a bit lackluster, but it was nice to have a healthy dish in the mix. My dad got the Kentucky Honey to drink and he said it was really good. The servers were nice and the volume wasn't too bad. Disappointing experience. Our second time visiting, and this time a second couple joined us. We shared a few apps (the burrata is fantastic) but the big mishap happened during the mains, with no apologies or corrections. One couples mains came a full 10 minutes before ours. When my boyfriends steak came, it was brought out as rare when he ordered it medium. My salmon was essentially sashimi and was brought out even after my boyfriends, so I was eating when everyone else was done. Throughly disappointing flavours on my dish as well- super salty and undercooked. This was not taken off the bill, nor even recognized (I took one bite and the rest was whole on my plate). An apology would have been nice. Would give an extra star for the ambiance, it was great out there. Too bad, we really thought this would be our go to place in East Hampton. read more

Loved the atmosphere, loved the good, loved the service, loved it all! This was our first spot for dinner in East Hampton. I made reservations about a week out, as I knew memorial day weekend was going to be very busy. When we arrived I knew I had chosen a good spot. They had great music playing, and the place was packed. We shared the mussels to start. They were done in the lovely white wine sauce with garlic and shallots. We did a half bottle of a red burgundy. All-around a great way to start dinner. For our entrées I ordered the cod done in an Indian style curry with raita. This was fantastic so good that my husband wanted it all and he doesn't even love fish. He ordered the linguine with clams. They were also fantastic and really unique because they were huge chunks of spicy chorizo which gave the entire dish a bit of a kick. He skipped dessert as we had purchased a pie earlier in the day from Briermere farms wanted to dig into it as soon as we got back to our hotel. Overall, a fantastic dinner in East Hampton. read more

Do forgive because I waited a year to review this place. I just forgot about it until I was reminded and so here it is... I met my husband here last year for supper as I was doing my thing in NYC. The drive was long and arduous so I told my Hubby, "It better be good sweetheart!" Let's just say I wasn't disappointed. All done, (the drive, the dressing and then further driving to the destination...) took about 5 hrs. I wasn't disappointed. In honor of me my hubby decided I needed a bit of "Fresno" that night. Let me start by saying that this place is high-end. The waitress we had was very accommodating and the service was beyond what I even anticipated for a hi-end place! The place is very beautiful and you can dine outdoors, where you'll find a lovely fountain and surroundings. It was just "Lovely" what can I say? The inside isn't shabby either. There's a zinc bar that sets the bar off and the bank seating is well done. It's formal without feeling you have speak in an English accent. The drinks were superb. I ordered to start, a virgin drink and my husband ordered a very nice wine. He also got the salumi plate to start us off. Heaven! I decided to try the Hangar Steak, which was cooked exactly to my specifications! Imagine that! I ordered the mashed potatoes and they served it with these magnificent brussell sprouts that I think were just made from magic because I don't even like these but I ate every last one! I remember also having a pear and walnut salad that was like crack 'cause I can't stop thinking about it. They should re-name it "Crack Salad" cause that's what it does to you. The dressing to me was a bit too sweet but I ate past it anyway. :) Now I know when you think high-end, you think you'll get these itty-bitty portions that have 2 bites in them. No! The portions are perfect. So much so that I wanted to try some cheese or a dessert item but I honestly, had no room left. If you want to impress someone, and you are near the East Hamptons I suggest you go here. If you have to look at the prices, don't go here. Given the relatively high ratings on Yelp, I'm surprised that my dining experience at Fresno was lackluster. The space is nice, and the daily prix fixe is a great bargain. The only problem is that the food was consistently overly salted. As appetizers we had a salad and the chicken liver pate with toast points. Not bad, but nothing to write home about. Unfortunately, the entrees (salmon over coconut risotto and hangar steak with frites) were so salty that they were almost inedible. The only saving grace was dessert (warm chocolate cake and a coconut flan). There are plenty of other dining options in town that I don't see myself coming back to Fresno anytime soon. read more

I went here as part of a party. Granted we had 11 people at the table, but the restaurant didn't look super busy when we were there (~8:30p). First, we were seated 15 minutes later than our reservation. Not a deal-breaker, but still worth noting. Before we were seated I had a drink at the bar and realized how snobby the atmosphere there was. One can say that is to be expected in the Hamptons, so again not a deal-breaker, but good to know before you arrive. Once we ordered it took a while to get the food. No one checked on us, no one gave us a heads up that it would take so long. I ordered the Linguni with clams and chorizo in a white wine sauce. It was OK, but I don't think it was worth the $30 I paid. Also, my friend ordered a Coca Cola twice and never received it. 20% gratuity was included. Yum yum yum! Fresno is the best restaurant in East Hampton- classy, with great food, and quick and efficient service! I love that it's off the beaten path and all the noise of the main streets and has the charm of a quiet residential block. The food was excellent. We had a few wonderful appetizers to share including shrimp and a salad. My main course - the Orecchiette with Broccoli rabe and Sausage was a killer. It is such a classic and simple dish but it was executed with such mouthwatering perfection that both my bf and I were in awe. He had a lamb dish but was jealous of my pasta :) We had a banana bread dessert which was amazing! First time coming here, and would not recommend or return. The food was good but they gave us an attitude for not having a reservation. The hostess was crocheting...I've never experienced such awful waiter service ever. We had to ask the bus boy if he was able to take our order because the waiter never came over. They have an abundance of people working there so short staffed wasn't the problem, waitress was more worried about looking at herself in the mirror then checking on tables. After realizing on Friday afternoon that we had booked our weekend getaway during Hamptons Restaurant Week, my boyfriend and I were afraid that we wouldn't be able to get in anywhere good this weekend. I scrambled to grab a 9:30 reservation on Friday night and we drove as fast as we could from the city to make it. It was well worth the rush!! The food, service and ambiance were all amazing. Although we had to wait for our table, the hostess and other staff members were very friendly and made us feel welcome. We started with the black bean soup (his) and the hummus platter (mine). Both were very delicious and came out quickly which was exactly what we needed for such a late dinner. For our entrees he got the linguine with clams and I got the tile fish (based on Yelp recommendations). The clams were fresh and the pasta was cooked perfectly. We're native Long Islanders and no strangers to this dish, but he said it was the best he ever had! My dish was impeccable. I'm not a huge seafood fan and was a little nervous ordering the tile fish, but felt like it was the right way to go. I was not disappointed! The sauce was amazing and I really enjoyed the combination of the spaghetti squash with the fish. Although we were completely stuffed we HAD to order dessert, so we split the toffee cake and passion fruit sorbet. We enjoyed both desserts so much that we finished them despite nearly falling asleep at the table. We will definitely come back here next time we're out East! read more

Great vibe and ambiance accompanied by creative dishes. Too often in the hamptons I've experienced the same old food prepared the same way. However, Fresno really dials it up and provides creative twists on old classics. To start we got the margarita en fuego. I'm always a sucker for a good spicy margarita, but this one was truly unique by adding the grapefruit element. Very delicious, I quickly ordered another. Also to note- the wine list is extensive, but i was in a cocktail mood that evening so stuck to the margaritas. We then got the special appetizer, which was a fish tartare of some type (I can't remember what type). This was interesting and different because it had spicy flavors as well as mango in it. This was devoured quickly. Next for mains- we got the special fish of the day, and the pork chop. Both were delicious, but I have to say the pork chop was the real standout. Anyone can do a porkchop, but this was so perfectly cooked and seasoned, I'm still dreaming about it. Overall a great place with outstanding food, great service, and a trendy (but not pretentious) vibe! If you can, ask to sit outside! read more

I went to Fresno for a Sunday night dinner during Labor Day weekend. We got to sit in the garden area, which was soft-spoken and dimly lit, and the perfect late summer dinner atmosphere. My only complaint was that it got a little buggy out there as the night progressed. We started with a few specialty cocktails, but I much preferred the wine selection. Our group of five split a spiced chipotle hummus appetizer, and ordered two plates of the crowd-pleasing, yet small-plated burrata with heirloom tomato special. Everybody enjoyed everything. For my main course, I went for the linguine with Montauk littlenecks, which was a large portion, and perfectly done. I tried my husband's tilefish, and friend's osso buco; both were great. However, the star entree that made us all jealous was the deceptively simple orecchiette with sausage. The depth of flavor here was the most impressive out of everything we tried that night, which is saying a lot. read more

Their website header advertises 30% off all bottled wine on Thursdays. Specifically, it heralds, "Join us for Oyster Night every Monday! $1 Montauk Pearls :) & Thursday 30/30 = $30 Prix Fixe - 30% off all Bottled Wine" The grilled octopus, mixed greens w/pears, fluke, tile fish, and veal chop were altogether award winning delicious and the two bottles of PIERRE RIFFAULT, SANCERRE, 2018, LOIRE refreshing. We were singing Fresno's praises until the check arrived. The wine was charged at full price. Had to be a mistake, so we asked the server to check. She returned and informed us that the 30% off discount was "not offered this time of year." I followed up that night with a note to the Fresno website contact.. No response. Poor form Fresno. Update your website. This deception is not good for your restaurant, your servers, or your current and future customers. This is one of my favorite places to visit when I'm in East Hampton. The staff is simply amazing and really great to look at ;-) But on to the important stuff...the food is always great, fresh and very seasonal! The drinks are amazing, Diego makes sure you're taken care of. I would recommend making reservations, especially in the summer. You would be crazy not to. I usually find a spot at the bar. Also, this may sound weird, but the lighting is absolutely perfect. I love soft lighting in restaurants. Just go there! You won't be disappointed! read more

Really....the food here is amazing! My husband, 4 month old daughter and I stopped in here to pick up dinner after a long road trip. We all waited in the dark bar with some wine.. Much needed. Thankfully the noise put her to sleep! It's a one room dining room and bar with a warm, bustling vibe- not to casual or dressy. Just perfect for what we needed. I tend to have a preconceived notion that I'm going to get jipped on my food when ordering to go-- not this place! Our food was delicious, and I want recipes! My salmon was cooked perfectly with a side of cous cous (warm, earthy spicy flavors) with zucchini, courants, eggplant and golden raisins. My husband ordered the hanger steak. He obviously loved it because it was gone in no time and he didn't offer me a bite. Sorry I don't have any details to offer on this one. The fries were thin, soft, not greasy and delish. I noted that this must be the hip and trendy spot for the design industry. Noticed lots of stylish groups of men in there... Maybe seen Elle decor, AD...? I don't know if this is typically a to-go place because they didn't have any plastic utensils. This was just what we needed at because we were heading back to the b&b where the dining room was closed. They actually asked us to bring our silverware back the next day?!! I had the opportunity to check out this fantastic restaurant. My boyfriend's sister got married and they chose to have their reception here. The restaurant isn't bug but it's perfect in size. From the decor to the lay out to the atmosphere...everything was perfect! I had the GRILLED TEQUILA MARINATED DUROC PORK CHOP which was divine. It was beautifully cooked, tender, and the flavor was fantastic. For dessert I had "The Split" which is a crispy peanut butter stuffed banana w/espresso gelato, chocolate sauce, and whip cream. Hands down and outrageously delicious dessert. Everyone wanted some and I dared not share. If there's anything you do before leaving this earth it's coming here and having this dessert. read more

Most overrated and overpriced place in the Hamptons. I don't know how it's still in business. The only positive is the gorgeous garden dining area. The food is mediocre at best. My pork was bone dry, the crab pasta was limp and swimming in a pool of bland, watery cheese sauce. My wife's halibut came out completely raw. We sent it back and naturally it came back once the rest of our table was finished eating. It was a $46 dish, to boot. No adjustment made to bill. I asked the server about wines to suggest cases on our dishes and his reason was "I'm not a wine guy but people seem to like this one." Seriously?? At $500 for 2 adults and 2 kids, this place should be spectacular. For that money skip this and head to Nick & Toni's or St Ambroeus in Southampton. Fresno is a joke. read more

Looking around I could see all the other guests were enjoying themselves and a lot of them were regulars. We got the crispy goat cheese salad and the salmon tartare for apps- both were amazing and the portions were good too. For our entrees, I got the cod and my boyfriend got the steak special. My cod was extremely well cooked, juicy and it came with beans in a sauce that was full of flavor! His steak was slightly overcooked even though he asked for medium rare but it was still super tender and yum! The only thing I didnt like (but my boyfriend LOVED it) was the polenta side....whatever cheese they used in it was a little to intense for me! What a nice touch. However, I feel it could have been more interesting. It was presented with the clams still in their shells which I thought was a bit odd. I like when the clams are mixed in.
