We worked with S&S, their subcontractors, and partners for our home renovation project in San Jose…read morebetween November 2025 and May 2026. Our project included retexturing the exterior walls and repainting the entire exterior of our home, replacing our HVAC system and ductwork, replacing all the windows, adding exterior lighting to the front of our home, replacing our water heater, replacing our previous rain downspouts, and numerous other 'smaller' items that I can't recall as I'm writing this. Since this was our second home renovation project (we had a mixed-to-negative experience with our previous contractor), we spoke with a few different contractors in the South Bay and chose S&S based on several factors including their very competitive pricing, flexibility in understanding our needs, and excellent first impressions (showing up on time, proactively providing us with recommendations, being super approachable, etc.). Throughout the entire project, S&S and their partners always showed up on time (or communicated in advance if they were running a little behind), checked in with us to see how we felt things were progressing, and temporarily paused work to recalibrate with us if we felt adjustments needed to be made. Even though things didn't always go smoothly 100% of the time (what home project ever does?), S&S made sure that things were "done right" and that we were satisfied with the end result. Of particular note, this included S&S spending extra time, money, and labor at their own expense to make sure things met both our expectations and their standards, which absolutely speaks to their exceptional work ethic and business practices. Overall, I would absolutely recommend S&S to anyone else that's looking to have work done around their home. They will certainly be the first people I reach out to for our next home renovation project.

It's still in good enough shape that we asked S&S to repair, clean and seal the grout, replace the caulking, and fix one tile in the hall bathroom, and do the same in a newer bathroom. From the first contact, all S&S communications were quick and cordial. In their on-site-estimate visit, Steve Stuck (owner) and Joe explained what needed to be done, and this was detailed in the quote we received shortly after. On the day of the work, Steve and his son Zack (also an owner), introduced Carlos and Mario to us, and made sure the walkways in our home had protective coverings. Carlos and Mario both worked hard, and took the extra step of fixing a cracked tile that we hadn't mentioned. We're very happy with the outcome, and since S&S is licensed as a general and plumbing contractor, as well as tile, we're talking with them about our kitchen renovation, too.

I have been waiting to write this review, so I could give Cal Window some big props on handling two separate disputes with the Velux factory for a new product they introduced this year - custom-size blinds. While Velux is arguably the best skylight manufacturer out there, they also appeared to have some operational issues launching their new custom-blinds product and twice shipped two incorrect orders, first with a skylight, then with blinds. I do want to applaud Sean for how he handled things in a winsome way. Velux didn't want to own the first mistake, but Sean was persistent and was able to drive it to resolution...and then same on the second mistake the Velux factory made. All three skylights are now installed with the correct custom-size automated blinds and they work great...and the skylights are great! Thank you Sean, Gloria, Alex, Nancy, and Patrick for the constant communication letting me know where things stood. I am looking forward to working with you all again!

Other work included removing walls, recess lightings, increasing the size of window in the kitchen in installing appliances. The pictures below speak for itself. House was sold afterward, and the work they did significantly increased the value. Riz was the PM and thanks to Apollo for the requested paperwork. Quick responses and great customer service.

We just had our bathroom remodeled by Cotfort and are very happy with the result. We've used 3…read moredifferent contracting companies now to remodel different bathrooms in our home and I'd say Cotfort was the best in terms of communication, flexibility, and quality. Some highlights I'd call out are they have great subcontractors and technicians. The tiling, paint job, electrical... everything was fantastic, and everyone was super easy to work with. We've always had communications / language barriers when working with workers in the past, so it was nice to be able to answer questions or give feedback directly onsite without having to wait for Umid to jump in. I also found Cotfort trustworthy and reasonable. For one, I decided to try an online-only tile company which led to terrible delays to the project (my fault there), and they were patient with reschedules though I know it caused them headaches. They also stepped in to make things right, without hesitation, when their countertop fabricator accidentally installed the wrong floor curb on the shower. Another sign of trustworthiness: I asked them to come back after the work was done to change out one of the accessories in the bathroom... they really had no obligation to but they did anyway. There were definitely some hiccups, like in all projects, but it helped a lot that they were responsive, flexible, and communicative. I never felt like they were trying to nickel and dime us or recommend something outside of our interests.
