My husband and I are really impressed with our recent HVAC duct replacement by Good Guys Heating and Cooling. Both the project manager Randy Anderson and Clinton Daley the installation clinician were personable, knowledgeable, efficient, and on time. Clinton was a hard worker and finished our job well within the time frame we were given. He also saw a hole in our outer wall where mice, rats and insects could get in and patched it (without additional cost). Additionally he removed a large object left and stored under our house that was too cumbersome for my husband and I to remove (also for no additional cost). He also secured insulation that was falling away from the subfloor- you guessed it----No additional cost. We really had a great experience doing business with Good Guys Heating and Cooling. Residential Heating & Air is my go-to company for any HVAC needs. I first used them to refill refrigerant on a leaking unit, then to fix a drain line on a separate unit. Based on their professionalism, attention to detail, and being a Mitsubishi authorized representative I had them completely rebuild an incorrectly installed Mitsubishi split system. My original HVAC contractor installed the unit without enough clearance to service the rusted coils (a common occurrence in these units). This was a one week, very complex project. Everyone who was part of this project was awesome and so glad it is finally done. Whether new construction, remodels or just annual service I would use them again in a heartbeat. read more

Jason from Residential Heating and Air Conditioning came out on a service call a couple of weeks ago. I had HEPA filters that needed changing in our units in the garage and attic. I also asked for a furnace inspection of both furnaces. He also changed the filters in our two HEPA units--one in the attic and one in the garage. He then cleaned our dryer vent inside our laundry room. He even vacuumed behind the dryer and the floor in the laundry room to clean up any mess. Then he went outside with his ladder to clean the opening from the wall to the outside. In the past, this was not always done. Besides doing a thorough job, he took photos of all the work he did and shared them with us. There were 2 parts to the furnace in the garage that he said were not performing well and we should consider replacing. He came out today to replace them and also measure for custom made return air flow replacement filters. He took more photos of the old parts and new ones. My husband and I were so impressed that he documents what he does with photos so he can clearly show customers what he did and what needs doing. Besides being competent, Jason is so friendly and personable and explains things clearly. We are grateful for him doing the work for us, and we imagine lots of other customers feel the same way. I have used this team now for 2 different projects (both installing a mini split on our ADU, as well as a full AC maintenance on our older main unit and can not be more impressed with the work that has been done, the communication through the job, and the transparency with the cost and pictures along the way of the work being done. Most recently we had Jason Hood as our technician and he was incredible (highly recommend). Not only did he do an amazing job getting our AC up and running after it had been buried under 6 inches of oak leaves and hadn't been serviced in years. We were drawn to Residential Heating and Air Conditioning as an experienced well rated nearby company having diamond certification on Mitsubishi HP HVAC installation. We came in upfront with high expectations and many questions. We enjoyed Tyler's friendliness and explanations re Heat Pump operation and options. Julian did a great job with electrical, sheet metal, indoor unit install, code, and SA sealing, and communication. Ray installed the outdoor unit and lineset well. We gave the project lead and scheduler feedback on our concerns, and they demonstrated efforts to make things better. Effective communication would include indications of extended absences, backups, and modes favored vs unattended. Residential recently replaced one of our AC units with a heat pump. The team was very professional, communicated clearly, showed up as promised, and installed a system that works really well. The new system is very quiet, efficient and heats the house in winter as well as cooling it in summer. I had many problems with my heat pump installation by Residential and would not recommend them. First, when I was dissatisfied with one of the mini-splits (I wanted one that delivered colder air), Tyler refused to work with me on replacing that unit with a better model, even though I was willing to pay. I had to get the owner involved to do the exchange. Second, I found out after 4 mini-splits were installed that they had butchered my ceiling joists and did not frame them out properly. If left that way, my ceilings would have started sagging within a few years (according to the inspector that I asked to check it out). Finally, I lost count as to how many times they were late, or just flat out missed appointments, without ever calling. I've done a lot of remodeling, and Residential was by far the worst company I have ever dealt with. Update: I do appreciate Residential admitting a poor review was warranted here. However, I'd like to clarify a couple comments here. First, there was no communication breakdown with my other contractor because my other contractor had absolutely nothing to do with the hvac installation. Residential was supposed to do everything for the hvac, period. The only reason my contractor stepped in after the fact was because Residential simply left the ceiling unsupported. I don't appreciate my other contractor being thrown under the bus here. Second, I admit I did not specify needing 61 degree cooling at the onset. My exact words were I wanted "a freaking igloo". It was not until the unit was installed that I realized it only went to 67 degrees. At that point I requested a change order to replace with the colder unit but was denied until Cathy became involved. read more

We used Residential Heating & Air Conditioning to replace our 50 year old gas furnace with a heat pump, so we can have safer & more efficient heating, and enjoy cooling in the summer as well. This company's quote was competitive, and they were very easy to work with. Their crew (Abel, Ray, Nick, Noah, Tyler) always arrived within their promised time window, they kept our place clean, and they installed everything exactly as promised, with no surprise extra costs. Though I'm no HVAC expert, the quality of their installation seems to be very good, and we had no trouble with the city permit inspection. I also appreciate that they followed through to work out some small adjustments/kinks after the installation was complete. With this unusually cold winter, we've been very happy with our system's ability to keep our (poorly insulated, old) home warm, and we're looking forward to a more comfortable summer as well! read more

WeI've been having a problem with our furnace, and our neighbor recommended Residential Heating and Air Conditioning in Campbell. I called and explained the problem, and a service call was scheduled for that afternoon. Brandon called 30 minutes before arriving, and was right on time. He was polite and knowledgeable, and quickly diagnosed the problem. Our system was up and running within the hour, and is working fine once again. Their rates are fair, and the friendly and attentive service that I received from Tara and Reyna in the office was absolutely first-rate. We've worked with other Heating/AC companies in the past and the results haven't always been great. In the future, Residential Heating and Air Conditioning will be our first choice, and we highly recommend this company for all of the reasons I've listed. Loved their service, highly recommended! I asked for their service when I was moving into a new property in Los Gatos in April, in order to upgrade the aging heating system and add AC for the whole house. Nick came in for the consultation, and with his advice, we decided to go with an electric heat pump in the attic + outside unit installation. Almost everything went according to plan after that: the team (Jesse, Brandon and Eleazar) came in and did a fantastic job redoing the pipes from the attic to the outside, right on schedule. The only hiccup was that the electrician they contracted could not make it (due to COVID-19), so I had to hire the electrician independently. Other than that, the team has been very professional (of course they wore masks) and did an amazing job. Thank you Residential Heating for keeping us comfortable in this hot summer! read more

This is absolutely the most incompetent and lousy customer service HVAC in the Bay Area. I called them for help with a system they reworked and they were not responsive. They finally got back to me a scheduled an appointment that was supposed to arrive between 2-4 PM and showed up announced at 12 Noon. I had to get another firm to install a thermostat because of their non responsiveness. When they arrived I asked them to check the system and fix the wireless access to the thermostat. The took down my entire wireless network and left saying the system was working properly. The same day the system failed in the same place I told them and they said "You are not a priority customer" and may be we can to you next week. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!!!! We've worked with Residential for over twenty two years and their service is stellar. Case in point, we lost an HVAC unit this past weekend because PG&E over volted the breaker boxes in our neighborhood, sending 220V into our 110V lines (very dangerous!) I emailed Residential about the situation this morning, and they fixed it by the afternoon. The service technician was conscientious, wore a mask at all times (over the nose), and maintained social distancing. Thankfully the problem was just a transformer, which is a minor repair. When he was done, he offered me the dead transformer, which is always a sign of trust in my book. We're now finally comfortable in the worst heat wave of the year, within hours of contacting Residential, after a miserable sleepless weekend of outages and damage caused by PG&E. We called Residential HVAC to come and check a possible gas leak from our furnace. Didn't call PG&E because if they found a leak they would shut off the whole gas line. Since it was cold we thought an HVAC company would fix the leak. They were quick to respond and made an appointment with Jim Stragalions. I just had long overdue furnace inspection by Timoteo, he was friendly, efficient, careful about cleanup, wore mask (as I did). Since the furnace is in the attic, and we both can't fit -- esp. with COVID concerns, he took some pictures to review component functions and observations with me on a tablet, which I hadn't had before -- very nice. Impressive diagnostics on component health and adjustments. The furnace is OK for now, but since it's an aging furnace, he also gave me some estimates on possible component replacements that might be needed vs when to consider a new furnace if any problems show up. If you are building or remodeling a new home or a HVAC system(s) and Residential Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc. ("Resi") comes up in the quoting and bidding process, choose "Resi". If "Resi" are not on the quoting and bidding list, add them. If someone tells you that you could save money by going with one of their other "trusted" but unlisted resources, get multiple points of confirmation you're not being lied to (otherwise, chances are, you are). Pay now or pay later; but, one way or another, you will pay (see below). Given the chance and choice, I would strongly encourage paying NOW to work with Cathy and her "Resi" team. They'll get it right--the first time, you'll delight in working with them in the process, and they'll be there for you when and if you need them in the future for regular service and scheduled maintenance. Like anyone worth working with in construction-related trades in today's world, they are busy, but they are worth the wait. We built and completed a new home in Fall 2017 with the design and installation of other resources. The design resources were quite capable and designed and delivered specifications for an HVAC system of quasi- commercial level. However, the installation resources, unfortunately, we only learned later were not trained and certified HVAC technicians and, most certainly, were not trained and certified Mitsubishi Electric (our HVAC system brand) technicians. The general contractor had promised these experienced and well-trained and -certified installers would save us thousands and get the work done on schedule. But, even as we worked toward HVAC system commissioning and bring-up we had issues with the HVAC system that we escalated with the general contractor and the subcontractors that went unresolved. Eventually, the general contractor and subcontractors went bankrupt, closed up shop, and we were left with an ill-performing and often-broken HVAC system. Left holding the bag, we began the search for a reputable, trusted, competent, thorough, and technical HVAC company and team willing to build a relationship and take on our HVAC challenges and bring the HVAC system to a state we and the original engineering designers knew it was capable of. Fortunately, through our architects, we were referred to an energy design consultant who, in turn, referred us Cathy Haire and her team at "Resi". Where other referrals flat out refused to work on someone else's design or installation--particularly one with problems, Cathy and her team were willing to listen to the problems; understand the system (including its original design) and installation; and to work with us to methodically solve them. So, October 2020, in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, nearly three years after we moved in, Cathy and her outstanding master technician, Ryan Anderson, came out over a couple of October days and worked with us to: document the scope and scale of the problems; through construction photos and as-builts to understand existing conditions; and built a prioritized action list with labor and part cost estimates to rehabilitate our HVAC systems and bring them back up to their full, intended performance. Two years, a 26-point work item list, and a little under $33,000 later, five years after we moved in and took occupancy of the home, Cathy, Ryan, and the "Resi" team have provided us with a powerful, quiet, efficient, serviceable and highly- functional Mitsubishi City-Multi S-Series + Nest system that finally works so well that we did something we had never done five years prior: we turned the thermostat cooling set points up two degrees since the house was simply too cold at the prior set points with the system functioning correctly. read more

Residential Heating and Air Conditioning never responded to my voicemail message in which I requested that they provide an estimate for installing heating and air conditioning in my home. They paid for an advertisement in Ca-Modern Magazine "claiming" that they are responsive to customers and will provide a 5% discount. Do NOT believe it. They did not even return my phone call requesting a quote after a week and a half. As an employee if I did not respond to a customer request for that long, I would have been fired -- no excuses. Their apathy is absolutely unacceptable. If a company does not have the competence and commitment to return a phone call to attract new business, I would NOT trust them to be competent and committed to fulfilling a professional contract on my home. So I chose not to contact them a 2nd time. Something is wrong. The online reviews are mostly positive, but their treatment of me makes it impossible for me to believe such ratings claims. Or maybe their performance has just gone downhill recently. The advertisement was in Ca-Modern Magazine, but that does not make Residential Heating and Air Conditioning competent to work on my Eichler home. I do NOT trust them. So reviewers will know, I did call five of their competitors and all five returned my phone call within 2-36 hours; and they were all were happy to come out and provide a quote. read more

Everything was pleasant in dealing with this company! I had an unpleasant discovery on the hottest week of the year that my upstairs AC was not cooling. First, the scheduling person gave me a 2 hour window when the person (Antonio) would arrive. Antonio arrived on time, and was wearing a mask. Antonio fixed the issue in 15 minutes (it was a broken capacitor). Then, he spent some more time debugging the issue since he saw a teflon wrapped on the bolts. He suspected a leak, and said that may have been the cause of the loss of Freon. Luckily, it turned out that there was no leak So he added the extra freon, sealed the bolt with some more teflon, and we were back to working again! Antonio also was very cautious through the repairs, wearing his mask. He wanted me to check the vents upstairs since he did not want to come in due to COVID - really appreciated it.
