Vy just gave me the pedicure of my life. This girl knows her stuff. An ingrown toenail is no stranger to her. Being that I'm an avid runner, my feet get really bad and my nails are really strong. Every technician normally points this out and struggles with my feet as they half ass my pedicure making me feel like they took it out. Just finished getting a pedicure and gel shellac. I am loving it! Why spend triple the amount elsewhere at a fancy place when you can get the same result here? I love the fact that the prices are super affordable here and I can change up my nails every few weeks without breaking the bank. Tammy was pretty detailed and careful with doing my nails. I moved to National City almost a year ago, and I have been trying most of the Nail shops around here. I stop by Frida who used to be a hair salon but now is only a nail salon. The services here are very good and the place was also not very crowded. Tammy was very good, she took her time taking out my ingrown nails, and massaging my feet. I also have very dried toes, and she made sure to moisturize them. I will definitely be coming back to this place and if you live in the National City area, you should stop by. read more

First time coming and I will never be back. Tammy or whoever did my nails messed them up I am very pissed about my nails. When she was taking off my nails..she used a nail clipper and clip a chunk of my nail off and it started to bleed my pinky finger is still in pain !!!!!!! That's only because she was jumping around from person to person trying to hurry up because it was starting to get full she didn't even paint my nails or my friends nails right she kept missing the sides and had to tell her to do it over..... SPIIIIDERSSS , so I walk in and the first thing they ask if " do you want gel " I said no & they just walked away rude & told me to pick a color of the wall. I ask them if they can do my color like an example I showed them and they told me to go the wall and look for it. I took my time doing them and didn't care. So , i was driving around looking for a nail place and yelp showed me this place. Stopped here, saw Tammy's work and took a chance. She removed my old acrylic nails by soaking them, no damage to my real nails no pain no redness they came off. I was soooo happy with that. So when she did do my nails, i loved the outcome , and she took her time and continued to look at her work while doing it , going over any details that needed to be corrected if so. Driving by today and saw Frida's and thought that I would give it a try because my regular spot has been going down hill and it is time to move on. So, I walk inside and I am immediately greeted by a lady who is on her phone and asked what I wanted (good sign?), but when I responded with I would like a full set the snob just looks back down at her phone. I stand there for about a minute and nothing, so I walked out. My money will just go to one of the other thousands of nail salons in SD. From what I experienced; the quality of work must be good because it definitely is not the customer service people go there for!! I recently bought a house in the area and have passed by this place, curious because I, like most Latinas, love Frida Kahlo. But, to be real witchu, I hoped that for once I would find a salon that would possibly have a Latina nail technician. Someone I can converse with, and who wouldn't just zoom through a Fill whilst speaking Vietnamese with co-horts, laughing as they look at you. Girls, you know what I'm saying. I'm not hating, I'm just telling you! Anyway, I go in for a Fill and to check out the place since I live a minute away and low and behold....not a single Latina to be found. Where is the Frida!?! It's just another inexpensive nail salon. I wasnt impressed by the fact that there was a special needs woman getting her eyebrows waxed, who repeatedly kept telling the salon manager that she was not happy with the results, and the salon manager persisted that she stick to what she got and wouldnt offer a do-over just to make the customer happy. I wanted to intervene and say to the woman that if she really wasnt happy she should insist to have her eyebrows fixed until she is, but she acquiesced too fast. Had it been ME, I would have made sure I left happy and wouldnt have let the manager (or was she just another technician with attitude?...) dictate how I felt about them. I wanted to get out of there quick. The technicians were typical of these establishments: aloof, rude, and talking Vietnamese loudly. I really wish they wouldn't use Frida Kahlo's likeness to represent their salon because its seriously false advertisement. Frida was classy, artistic, polite, and shrewd. This place...NOT. And as for the service itself, I've given myself better fills. The nail color selection is not the best, and the equipment is dated. I can tell they are not big on their sanitation either, and its the reason I wanted to leave right away but I was also pressed for time and needed that blasted Fill. won't be going back here... although the gel pedicure and manicure are lasting, the service I got sucked. at first, it was nice.. they took me as a walk-in and let me charge my phone. I also didn't have to wait very long, but my pedicure seemed rushed even though she was nice and it felt good. my manicure... I asked for a manicure before getting a full set for cuticle care and the woman who gave it was so rude and unfriendly. she just nodded me along and still didn't listen to the directions I gave her. my nails are oval-shaped and slightly crooked. she rushed and the gel polish application is sloppy. so is the acrylic application from my cuticle line. tending to my cuticles consisted of roughly snipping them off without regard to if she was hurting me or not. my cuticle area is peeling all around and the area around them was so sore an sensitive the next day. also, she was picking at her toenails and feel while my hands were in the uv light. gross!! I went to get a pedicure there with my mom and sister, this place doesn't sterilize their feet spa property. If you see you are taken to those chairs right after someone else and the seat is still warm you best belive they did not clean the spa property. The liquid sterilizer should be poured in there and let it run trough for 10 minutes. So it would take around 15 minutes to clean the spa. Well they dont. This is what i saw. They had no cleaning chart either. The person who did my acrylics really did a bad job and when asked to fix something she did not. I was so hopeful because i have been looking for a place to get my nails done when i dont feel like doing them my self. Mabe i have high standards since i do nails myself. I wont be back. read more

They said they had room but there were only three girls working and they only had room for one. I literally had to wait for my bf to finish his before they did mine. I would have went somewhere else if I knew that was going to happen. Then the woman kept hurting me. I told her she was scraping my cuticles too hard and she wouldn't stop. I would NOT recommend this spot to anyone. I am never coming back to this place, they overcharge you and go against the prices that they have advertised. They do not tell you that they charge for length, or that they charge ten dollars for gel when their sign says five dollars. I came on asked for the full set nails i did not ask for gel, I sat down she gave me the colors to pick from and she did not tell me it was gel. When I went to pay I was expecting a total of at the most 22-23 dollars, to an actual total of 35 dollars! This was at night time when I refused to pay the over priced total they gave me, for something I did NOT ask for. They proceeded to lock us in the store to make sure we wouldn't leave. Of course I was going to pay just not the price I did not ask for. 30 minutes later after they ignored me, to help another customer, and after having my mom come in, for them to open the door and calling the police, they finally settled for 25 dollars. WORST PLACE EVER. If you do go make sure you set your prices straight because they will try to play you for your money. read more
